Been a little while since I have been here....Maybe a couple of months....But I just wanted to say this is a nice place....The bar itself is very nice, clean, and comfortable....The interior is all done with wood - very nice touch ! Â They also have a smaller but nice area if you don't want to sit in the bar section, and eat.....
I went on a Wednesday to see the Jony James Blues Band....If you have not seen them yet, and are into the blues/jazz I highly suggest you see them here or elsewhere....He plays a style of blues they call "survivor blues"...I have now seen them 4x in the last 5 months, and have not been disappointed once ! Best part is every Wednesday Jony plays here for free !
I enjoyed many beverages at the bar....The whole staff was friendly, and I was introduced to the owner's husband who shared some scotch with me - nice guy ! Â
While I didn't eat my friend did.....The menus are really cool....They are done up on record cases - very cool idea.....My friend had the roast beef on weck, and was very adamant that it was excellent !
How many times did I use the word nice in this review ? lol, I guess this is a nice review for Ernie's ! lol
HAVE A NICE DAY ! :-)
I am a local performer in a couple bands, and I happened to be at Ernie Webers Beef & Ale watching one of my friends with her band sing. Â Mind you I was in jeans and a hoodie just expecting to enjoy the show. Her band asked me to come and do a song, when it was over the owner who should be somewhat in control of herself came up told myself and my friend her thoughts; normal minus the face she could barely stand and was slurring her words drunk. She proceeded to tell us how she thought we had great voices but our outfits were basically ridiculous, while she was dressed like a sloppy random with stains all over her shirt. Â Her exact words to my friend were basically "you look like and office slut" and I "looked like a gym rat." Classy- Â To add to this eventful night the bartender was more interested in talking with friends and eating her pizza logs rather than serving. Â I waited without exaggeration 20min to close my tab with a total of 10 people in the entire bar. After closing my tab walked out of the bar and realized she never gave me my debit card back, when I went back in waited another 10min and she then claimed she had no idea where my card was, heated I was about to cause a scene but maintained a lady like composure. A local at the bar (friends with owner it seemed) then started to yell at me and claimed they would never loose my car, as the bartender hands to card back to me. Â I do not recommend this bar to anyone based on service alone. Â They have a sloppy drunk owner with tacky comments, and apparently do not know how to hire decent bartenders. Â Beware bands they're not a good place to perform at either.
Review Source:After a visit to the Botanical gardens the girl and I were hungry for a bite and passed this old-time beef house and jumped in for some lunch.
Te place was empty on Saturday around 3:00 - they just opened. We had the server/bartender/hostess/cook take us to the room beyond the bar area.
WOOD - wood walls, wood ceiling, wood tables and chairs, nice bar tables and dining rooms tables custom made. Â So said the above mentioned waitress... decorated this place 10 years ago!!!
They closed for two years and recently reopened in February ( although listed as closed everywhere!!)... owners can't seem to get it changed. ( I have notified yelp twice myself since our visit)
We asked who Ernie Weber is ( the mustard king ?) , my dad she replied, and also a "famous country bluegrass guy - who wanted to build a bar for people to get a beef and beer. When they get a music license, Ernie and the crew will presumably perform while you down a few pints and Sammie's.
The menu ( delivered in an album cover) was a nice example of bar food/gin mill grub with nice supply of bistro selections.
We shared a Mr. Big combo ( $16.50) .... 1 pound of beef on weck with 10 wings..
This was outrageous, excellent and huge! Crispy large wings, juicy beef - " Wish I lived near here" Â good! A side of o-rings, golden brown and huge as well $2.29 includes dipping sauce.... Napkins - FREE!!
Free refill sodas for us today, but cheap beers at Magic hat pint $4.00 $14.50 Pitcher. $3 domestics bottles...some bar specials.
Beef  and burgers come in 6,8,10,and 16 oz portions!, awesome fish fry at $10...
reasonably priced food.
Lost in the clutter of the newest, bestest, trendiest and most exclusivest sits this little gem of simpler and more honest times; BUFFALO culture in days of factories and hard work. As the children, grandchildren and great greandchildren of the factory era search to find the best composed martini on the strip.
Forget not where you have come from.
I Â Love the vibe, could have stuck around for hours...
Check it out because they do it right
Hit it on the right day, it's excellent.
The service is a little (flaky) uneven, but if you like a Beef on Weck, I think this is what started the Buffalo tradition. (before chicken wings) The guards at the gate are a little intimidating, but have the patience for your reward. I consider it a little pricey but on occasion, it's worth it. A draft and some fries it's a memorable meal.
I wouldn't recommend taking children. A dark, old, beautiful, two room, shotgun bar. Open from 3pm to 11pm I think. This can be a little uneven too. Street parking.
