This place has so much potential when you first walk in. Â It has that feeling of you are at a premier golf resort with a museum etc. Â But that is where it ends. Â The food is ok to below ok. Â We had breakfast and for the price me thinks not. Â You need to have a few bloody mary's to make this work. Â If your a golfer and spending this kind of money for golf you would expect the food to be on par to the rest of the facilities. Â Not so...
Review Source:Wed. Is prime rib night vat Ernie's. Â Hubby and I are both beef lovers. Â We ordered end cuts if available, or med. rare, if not., but were told that only Med. was available (it was only 6:30 p.m.). The meat we were served was overcooked and very dry, plus my sides came out of the kitchen wrong twice. Â We are members, but will never eat here again
Review Source:This place is very nice great atmosphere food is better than average. My wife and I sat at the bar ordered two side salads and a veggie burger. Â The servers/bartenders were not engaging, we had to ask for menus, then ask for our order to be taken. When our food did come it all was delivered together salads and burgers and fries.
Good place but the service at the bar needs improvement.
I stay at a PGA West condo every year for Coachella for a week and am so glad to have discovered Ernie's. Its a great sports bar with a beautiful view of the golf course. The food is pretty good and ranges from salads, to sandwiches, to bar food like wings by the pound. I've been for both breakfast and dinner; both were good. Overall, a good option for the area.
Fyi, no jacket/formal wear required. I went in shorts and sandals. We weren't sure since its in a country club.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Ernie's. The salmon was cooked to perfection. They make a great vodka drink - with orange juice, tonic water, fresh basil, and strawberries - that was super fresh and strong. Juan Carlos, our waiter, was very attentive. An overall great experience sitting outside by the water and the food was quite tasty as well.
Review Source:The lunch faire was very good - I had a chipotle chicken sandwich and the service was friendly and man- great view of the course. Unfortunately, the it's a bit pricey and the service seemed a little overwhelmed - took quite a while to get our check and a box for leftovers. Overall though, we were satisfied. Paid $36 with no drinks and with tip for 2.
Review Source:Sports bar ambience and outdoor patio views are great, but it pretty much ends there. I've been here several times and the food is very inconsistent as is the service. They never change the menu so you'd think they'd at least be able to get it right. There seems to be a lot of staff turnover and many of those there, including the 'greeters' are fairly unseasoned.
Its ok for a quick bite when you don't feel like cooking. If you are a foodie, it isn't worth the trip.
Ernie's Bar & Grill at the Pga West Clubhouse is a hidden gem! Â My husband and I decided to stop by Ernie's to see if this was a viable dinner option. Â The restaurant was packed and we ended up sitting at the bar counter. Â Our server/barman was delightful, offering wine tastings for me to select from. Â Our meal was fantastic: nicely presented house greens with key lime vinaigrette and a delectable fall off the bone short rib with blue cheese croquette and baby roasted onions. Â Expresso ice cream with melt in your mouth blueberry tart completed our delicious meal. Â We enjoy breakfast at Ernie's on a regular basis. Â After our dinner there this weekend, it's now become one of our fav dinner spots.
Review Source:Went back for Monday Night Football.... Â
Live DJ that plays music during commercials and keeps the scene lively
Hole in One Contest at Half time
Drink girl handing out tastings of Vodka and Kamikazees.
Lively and upbeat.
Heard they have a Make your own Bloody Mary Bar on the weekends going down this weekend this this a try...
If my future update is full of typos and gibberish it means I really enjoyed the Bloddy Mary bar!! LOL
First, you do not have to be a member to drop by Ernie's Bar and Grill. Â The addresses are kind of goofy out here in the desert, makes it difficult to find using navigation. Â Just remember to follow the road all the way to the end. Â The view is great, stay indoors during the summer, but the patio is nice during the evening. Â Great for lunch, wife had half sandwich and salad I ordered the calamari. Â I would pass on the calamari, my mistake, who orders seafood in the middle of the desert? Â I should have known better! Â I had a couple of bloody Mary's because they had a $5 make it yourself deal worked out great! Â It is kind of hard to find, but I will definitely go back.
Review Source:This place is amazing. My stepdad is a golfer and goes here after he's done playing gulf so I had to check it out.
We arrived as the sun was setting about 7pm. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the golf course to amazing views. There were misters on the building and lots of breeze for a July evening in the desert.
We weren't that hungry and shared a salad and steak. The salad was a rock star. I cant remember the name of it but it had fresh mozzarella, 3 types of tomatoes, cucumber and a balsamic reduction sprinkled all over the plate. Â Yummy!
The steak was good and wrapped in bacon on top of mashed potatoes. Â That was just okay. The best part of Earnie's is the view. It's a little pricy but worth the drive and view. I think I'll be back again!
I've been twice, and Ernie's is now one of my favorite places in the Valley. Good food, stylish interior...if only it wasn't hidden way in the back of PGA West.
I got a gift certificate for my first visit; otherwise I'd likely never have known this place existed. It's a long drive from my house, but it was well worth the effort. The clientele seem to be mostly PGA West residents, usually wear polo shirts and visors/ball caps. There are lovely views of the grounds through large windows and a great outdoor seating area.
The chef seems to really love what he does. He could probably get away with basic pub grub, but he's getting creative. The menu changes with the seasons and features solid gastropub fare like homemade chips and ramp dip and an excellent charcuterie plate. On both visits, the executive chef was working the room, greeting guests and asking about their experience.
Standouts were the tomato carpaccio, thinly sliced heirloom tomatoes with a balsamic glaze and arugula microgreens. The salmon was good, and every vegetable we tried was excellent. Â The bf's panna cotta was gorgeous to behold and just as delicious as it was attractive.
If it was closer, I'd be a regular. I'll make an effort to return, though. It's worth the drive.
Went here for my bro-in-law and sis-in-law's rehearsal dinner. Must say this place is soo far out in the boonies and it was super dark driving over! I think other people got lost on the way too because we had to stop and ask someone and followed some other car in asking. It was in the PGA building so that was interesting. When mapping it, it wasn't in the correct place at all which was why we needed to ask directions!
Anyway they had a nice little room in the back with tables set up and it was private. They had a buffet of all you can eat pizza and ceasar salad. Pizza was decent, and the salad was good. I would give it 3 stars. We ordered Arnold Palmers and dang, those were the best i've had! 5 stars for that! The dessert was good, some fruit and yogurt thing. I would give it a 3 because of the far out location and the food was ok. get the arnold palmer!!
The view at Ernie's is almost worth a four star review alone.
I came to play at the PGA West course and sat down with my partners for the end of their breakfast. They ordered french toast and the standard eggs hash browns and bacon. The portions were very large and I was able to get quite a meal skimming off them.
Food was well prepared and well presented. It is typical breakfast fare.
The same can be said for the lunch menu.
The burgers are large and the baskets of fries enough to fill anyone, but it is standard fare for a golf clubhouse.
The dinner menu and dining atmosphere could be a four star experience.
Sitting outside with a view of the finishing holes  at PGA West make the atmosphere terrific, however the food is pretty standard.
Enjoyed a Jack and Coke sitting on the deck. didn't make it to happy hour....
The staff is very friendly.
An enjoyable experience all in all.
All I can say is: best Buffalo wings I've had on the West Coast, and I'm originally from Buffalo. The sauce was tasty, and the wings had a little crisp to them. These wings were big and meaty, not skimpy like wings at some of the other places around here. When you're in the mood for some REAL Buffalo-style wings, it's worth the drive to this place, which is inside PGA West.
Review Source:While in town for the weekend, we were staying in PGA West. Â Looking at the Yelp Map, we found Ernie's to be close by. Â And after ignoring some of the negative reviews (as usual), we went. Â
The restaurant is situated in front of the big lake at PGA West, big "rock sign", Stadium Course, etc. with the mountains in the distance. Â So the scenery is spectacular. Â
The first night, we went for the Happy Hour. Â We sat at the bar, and they had drinks specials and appetizers. Â We ordered a couple of drinks, appetizers, then another small entree.
- Â Calamari - (which I do love) was excellent. Â Big pieces of calamari, not too much breading, not greasy.
- Â Lettuce Cups - I would have preferred the sauce on the side, but they were good (not great - I guess PF Chang's spoiled me)
- Â Salad - Excellent
- Â Jerk Chicken Sandwich - Very tasty
The second night, we went for dinner there. Â This night we had:
- Â Seafood Salad - was nice, but not that big
- Â NY Strip Steak (with home made steak sauce) - the steak was fantastic, and did not need any other sauces (to me)
Great views and atmosphere, plenty of parking and friendly staff but food is really bland. Had corned beef hash for breakfast and it was just cooked eggs and cooked hash browns and cooked corned beef. with no seasoning. Why did we even go out? The night prior I ordered the lettuce wraps that they do not mention on the menu are sitting in like a puddle of mayo or some sort of white cream sauce, really gross and no way around it and to not have such a key ingredient listed is unfair, I would have ordered something else w/o so much sauce. People ordering lettuce wraps are usually trying to be eating a bit healthier than those ordering popcorn shrimp so there should have been a heads up, list your ingredients on your menu and flavor your eggs or hashbrowns.
Review Source:A wonderful indoor / outdoor clubhouse place with a fantastic selection of lunch eats.
The clubhouse has been significantly updated in the past few years, and this place has fantastic, airy atmosphere.
I tried the short rib sandwich w/ fried onions. Â Really tasty, and the meat had a great texture. Â The whipped horseradish was not too hot, but did have a nice bite. Â My Finance Golfing mentor had the beer battered fish and chips. Â The crunch of the fried crust was outstanding, but the fish was moist.
My foodie chef buddy Danny Boy had the Ernie's Ensalada with Salmon. Â It had strips of tortilla chips, and the salmon was very good, with a nice, salty seasoned crust.
Wait staff wear caddie "bibs" with many pro's names across their shoulder blades. Â They were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu selections. Â Our waitress ran through today's special quickly, with good explanations with comparisons to foodies you might have had before.
This place fits nicely with a prestigious PGA tour clubhouse.
There are 6-9 full 18-hole course in the compound. Â I hear that the course I just played, the Pete Dye Stadium course was just voted off the Bob Hope classic, because it was too hard! Â I lost enough golf balls to raise the water level of the lakes, so I would agree that it has a high degree of difficulty. Â My golf bag was incredibly lighter at the end of the round.
Ernie's is great! It has a great atmosphere inside and out and the staff is wonderful! They have great breakfasts (though in the off season they are only open on the weekends for breakfast) and their lunch and dinner menu also offers some great items! I would recommend stopping by! Â You can also sit outside at night by the fireplace and enjoy a drink, it's quite nice! Â
The Market Cafe, on the other hand, definitely needs some work.  The menu is limited, and they are always low on stock for items like yogurt or fruit.  The cafe was closed at 10:30 am this morning, so no coffee, breakfasts or snacks after 10:30 am.  The coffee when they are open is very good, but their hours are so unpredictable (what coffee place isn't open in the morning?).  This place has so much potential because of it's location among so many homes, if they can't figure out how to make it work  they should let Starbucks or a company that knows what they are doing take over the space. I don't know why they don't offer a limited amount of grocery items (eggs, milk, bread etc), coffee, sandwiches and wraps, among other muffins and snacks, there is so much potential for this spot and right now it's just wasted space.
Showed up here Saturday to play the Stadium Course at PGA with some buddies and had a chance to grab a bite to eat with my buddy Antny before the round. This place is sooooooooooo good. I started off with a Gazpacho Soup with Avocado and diced cucumber. Â INSANE. Across the table my buddy was doing back flips for the tomato soup that he ordered which thankfully he made me try... WOW! We both ordered salads too. I had a great salad with halved grapes and big chunks of goat cheese with a champagne vinagrette... I Can't say enough about this place! We played the round which was awesome, then we returned to the clubhouse to find it was Happy Hour at Ernie's... I ordered the Grilled Shrimp over Avacado salad and my buddy ordered Calamari. Both were just insane! We sat out back under the misting system drinking beers and watching guys Plop balls into the water after hitting short... Killer GO There !!!!
If you have high blood pressure just sit out back here during happy hour... You will melt all your troubles away.
Ate breakfast here twice this weekend. The first day i got pancakes and they where good but not great. They are very fluffy though. They had a unique flavor. The 2nd day i ordered huevors ranceros, first time ever having  this and it was pretty good but i didnt finish it because i was done with eating the same thing. I had OJ both times and was fresh squezzed.
Review Source:Went on a relaxing vacation to La Quinta for a weekend and stopped by Ernie's Bar & Grill. Â What an awesome find! Â This place is quite expensive but I guess that is to be expected since its on the PGA golf course. Â It overlooks the PGA West golf course and is located in the stadium clubhouse. Â My boyfriend cannot stop talking about the most amazing Lobster Mac N Cheese. Â He also ordered the bloody mary bar, where you can go to the bar and create your own bloody mary. Â They have all the condiments laid out and you can fix it up to your liking. The menu wasn't very vegetarian/ vegan friendly. Â Actually it wasn't friendly at all. Â I did order a salad with no meat and cheese with red wine vinaigrette. Â It was good but nothing special. Â Though the food wasn't awesome for me because of my diet, I know omnivores will enjoy it if you have the cash to splurge. Â The ambience is really nice. Â Its got a nice outdoor area with a fire pit and the indoor area is posh even though it has TV screens for sports watching. Â I really enjoyed my time here.
