I'm 28, and I felt old at Es Tas - but I feel old nearly everywhere I go in this college town. Â And I didn't feel TOO old at Es Tas. Â It's a dive bar atmosphere, which I love, although I'd be interested to see what the crowd is like during peak bar hours - I suspect it gets a little more clubby.
We went for dinner, and I was impressed with the tap beer menu. Â And the food was awesome - fresh and flavorful. Â I'll definitely be going back to Es Tas, an underrated Campustown gem.
Fantastic middleground between a dive bar and a club. This bar has something for everyone. I used to fequent this bar a lot, but now only make it there once or twice/mo. One huge issue I have is that they actually had a cover twice this semester. Anyone who knows this bars history knows that a cover is border-line against the law....I could not believe it. That will impact how often I go there...it just put a sour taste in my mouth. Nonetheless it remains the best bar in ames.
