OK, pictures to come, but this place is a gem near the Rubbertown side of Louisville. Not far from Park DuValle and just off Wilson Avenue near the corner of Algonquin, it sits in a non-descript former restaurant, not sure if this was a former Long John Silver's but I don't think it matters.
Don't expect anything fancy but do expect very good comfort food at a fantastic price. My eldest son had a$5.99 (small) chicken gizzard basket and had enough food to feed 3. The batter used was slightly salty and peppery, super crunchy, the gizzards were chewy as they should be but not overcooked.
My youngest son had the $2.79 pizza roll and fries and could hardly eat half. I took a quick bite and the roll was flaky and filled with a slightly spicy and tasty pizza filling.
A philly cheese steak (6.99 combo) was also shared among the crew and it was flavorful and overloaded with thin slices of marinated steak, onions, peppers and mushrooms. Be prepared to have more fries than you'll know what to do with if you order any item that comes with them.
They have a fairly diverse menu of sandwiches (burgers, subs, etc.) along with fried fish and chicken, and gyros too.
It can sometimes be a rarity to find any restaurants worth their salt (they actually got 100% on their Health Dept score) on this slightly West end part of town, but I'm hoping this one sticks around. At the very least, it looks as if they're gaining a takeout audience in the neighborhood, so it's a start.
