wow,  we ordered food and got the total opposite of what was ordered,,and then when we went back to complain they just threw together a cold sandwich ,,wich anywere else is always hot,, royal farms has a better breakfast than this and i am blown away how little you get for the money,,  i also tried again and figured dinner would be diffrent or even better,,  wrong  ,, wrong,, wrong,,,  got the same dish as the previous post and the portion hadd me wanting an explanation????  i could fit it all in one hand!!  no joke!!  and the roll tasted like total dirt!! do they even test their food??? or are we all ginny pigs at the farmers wife? i mean the cabbage and ham didnt even have good broth or even hot broth to make it nice,, the potatoe was very small ,,,id sooner stay home and cook if this is what good money gets at this place,, Â
i even waited weeks to see if it got better, and still to no ones belief ,,is it any better,,, just worse now!! Â
very disapointing when youve got a family to feed and theres not many choices here in hebron,,
why does this town always have the worst food?? not one restaurant yet has had a signature dish that puts them on the map,,not 1 dish!!
We didn't go to the eatery but instead stopped to buy a pumpkin and stood looking in amazement at the huge pumpkins available. Â Also bought some jam and nuts. Â The staff behind counter are quite friendly and polite and the place is quite clean and has a lot of different vegetables available.
Review Source:Let me just start by saying that some of these reviews seem very childish and ridiculous.
I have been there numerous times and have been extremely satisfied. The food is fresh and the taste is great. The Chesapeake wings are out of this world! Being a new business, I understand that it can be a little slow at service sometimes, but it is fine. When you are waiting for your meal, they come around and give you a bowl of fresh watermelon and cantaloupe.
This is a great place to eat! The people and staff are great and the food is delicious!
I have to say I was very disappointed. The portions are very small for what you pay for. I don't like that they serve old bay chips for the  children's side, all 3 of my children didn't like them.  I would have gotten the French fries instead, but they are very overpriced. I had a roast beef and spicy cheese wrap, I asked if the roast beef was rare and was told yes, well it wasn't rare and there was one piece with a bunch of iceberg lettuce and cheese that tasted like American. My daughters ate the mini hamburgers, they said they tasted like McDonald's. My husbands hot turkey and cheese was good, much larger than what I got, and I believe if was less money.
Review Source:This is a new local eatery where Chicken Man used to be located. Â I was excited that a new restaurant was opening there and that it was not a chain. Â Out this way, there's not many places to go out to eat unless you consider Subway or Royal Farms as fine dining. Â
The first thing I noticed was a severe lack of tables on the inside of the restaurant. Â After we were seated, another couple came in and they had to bring a table and chairs from the outside. Â There is definitely more room for tables or booths inside the location. Â There was way too much open floor space. Â
The restaurant is in a self service format where you order and pay at the register but if you are eating in, they bring your food to your table but in "to go" boxes. Â Since there are no servers, there is no tipping. Â
I had a "plain jane" burger (5.99) with a small "boardwalk" fries (3.49) while my companion had a special, ham, cabbage and potato (11.95). Â
My burger was a fairly small 5 oz patty (which they disclose on their menu) and it was properly cooked with just a small hint of pink inside. Â The burger ingredients were fresh. Â The ketchup packets were Hunts which for me is a turn-off. Â I am a loyal Heinz person. Â The burger was packaged in a to-go box with these seasoned potato chips. Â The seasoned chips had a very burnt aftertaste. Â I think they may have been the Old Bay seasoned chips. (Old Bay is very popular here on the Eastern Shore). Â The size of the fries was very generous. Â I was expecting less for a "small". Â The fries were in a burger sized Styrofoam to-go box.
The "special" was not very special though. Â It was packaged in one of those larger to go boxes (the kind with the one big slot and the two smaller ones) and the entire 11.99 serving only took up the big slot. Â The potato that came with the meal was smaller than a golf ball bordering on a large marble. Â My companion left the restaurant still hungry. Â
Drinks are done through self service fountains. Â It's Pepsi, which pretty much has the market on independent restaurants. Â The tea is freshly made and coffee was fresh brewed. Â The floor throughout the restaurant is made of hard wood. Â Because there was no mat around the fountain area like many restaurants have, I almost had a slip and fall accident in the restaurant as I did not see liquid from the fountain that spilled on the ground.
As a local, I was very disappointed by The Farmer's Wife.  I feel that they are trying to cash in on the US-50 crowd that goes from the western shore to Ocean City but I feel that they are doing this at the expense of the locals who will be patronizing them year 'round (if they plan to stay open year 'round).  I felt that I did not get much value for the $20+ that I spent there when I could have continued a few minutes to Royal Farms and got a  chicken family pack for just over half the price of what I spent at The Farmer's Wife.
The people were very friendly and I would give a 4 out of 5 for speed of service. Â We waited normal length of time for this type of restaurant. Â
Until this restaurant improves the seating, improves customer safety and is a little more generous on portion sizes and is an overall better value, we will not be coming back any time soon.
