Overall, I really like their burgers and to me that's what counts.
This place has become very popular during the lunch hour, so it does get noisy and crowded. If you don't like crowds you may check elsewhere.
Typically Freddy's has excellent customer service. If it's not busy, folks come around and ask if they can take away any trash, trays, or refill your drinks. Â This is a nice touch for a quick service restaurant.
The Steakburgers are quite good. I've had the original double, and the California Style Double. I prefer the original with some mayo. (The California style does not measure up to In & Out burger)
I would rank this place 3rd or 4th on my burger list in Springfield. 1: The Roost 2: Five Guys 3: (tie) Whisler's and Freddy's.
We chose to go here on a Sunday afternoon. Â The place was "jamming" and had every table bustling. Â Service wasn't horrible and it seemed like they were pretty well prepared for the rush of people.
We ordered, burgers, hot dogs (for the kids), chili, a shake, and fries.
The burgers were okay (very similar to Steak n' Shake.)-although their prices are a tad higher than SNS. Â Taste was similar as well, the only difference was a different bun, but it wasn't that noticable. Â
Fries are thin cut and need the over the counter shaker salt/pepper seasoning. Â Without it, they are bland. Â
The shake was good-it's not bad.
The chili was disappointing. Â My son said it tastes like the "cafeteria" at school and concurred with him that it was "Chili-Man"-something about it said "canned chili". Â SNS's chili is amazing in comparison.
Hot dogs were okay. Â The kids weren't overly impressed, but it's a hot dog.
All in all, Freddy's wasn't a bad experience. Â Although they are from Kansas (where they started) it had a West Coast vibe to it in the restaurant. Â All of the wait staff (trash picker upp'ers were very friendly) and attentive given the lunch rush.
We'll go back and try more menu items and see what else they have to offer.
Freddy's had a lot of hype going for it, and it somewhat met my expectations. I've eaten there twice (got the chili hot dog once and the hamburger and fries combo the second time). The hamburger was delicious, but over all I don't think it was worth the price (it was more expensive than your average "fast food", that's for sure).
