Awful awful awful. Came here for a quick dinner before we hit the road to head back to Boston after July 4th weekend at the lake. After waiting foreeever for our 2 draft beers, we got our appetizers: Boring jalepeno poppers with what I'm certain was velveeta inside. And the coconut shrimp, charred on the outside, raw shrimp on the inside. Gross. Then we waited another epoch of time until entrees dropped. Â My sister's chicken parm was almost totally raw when she cut into it. Â After the kitchen re-made it, she was served a portion approximately half of the original and fried within an absolute inch of it's life. Â We asked to speak with the cook (nope, I will not call him a chef) who's excuse for serving RAW food was that they just introduced a new menu. Â I'm still not clear on how that affects their actual ability to cook.
Review Source:Came here for lunch with some family after a reunion on the lake got cancelled due to snow and high winds over Memorial Day weekend (thank you, global warming!). Walking through the door, my first thought was that this place is very cool: very small-town NH feel with exposed plank floors and bar tables with white birch legs that are built right into the wall.
The menu is pretty solid with the standard pub fare plus a few interesting twists. I got a BBQ pulled pork sandwich with caramelized onion and cheese that was so good I wanted to curl up inside it and take a nap, and the fries were thick-cut and crispy -- perfect. We also got some buffalo chicken dip that was excellent as an appetizer, and my cousins had high marks for the Philly steak subs and veggie burgers as well (the veggie patty had actual discernible vegetables in it and looked to have been made on site, which was nice to see).
The only drawbacks? Well, the waitress was mildly surly (though it was more amusing than annoying) and the food took quite a while to come out, though it was worth the wait. The prices were decent and the food was good enough that I'll definitely stop by here again if the rescheduled reunion in July also gets snowed out. Â :-P
I would have probably given the place at least a 2/5, but they neglected to mention a $1.50 up charge for sweet potato fries. Even though it was on the menu, as a courtesy, the servers should mention it when they ask you if you want one of the other options.  We had the same problem in two different extremes with our entrees. My lobster cake burger was very bland and lukewarm (tasted almost like a veggie patty) and my fiancée's French Onion Soup was overly salted.  Not a great experience here at all.
