I am compelled to write my review to counter James P's review. Who boycotts an entire restaurant chain because his sandwich came with mayo on it?
We had lunch at this location last week on vacation in Erie, then returned later in the same day to have appetizers and watch the US Women's National Soccer Team play in the Gold Medal match against Japan. Both meals were delicious and the service great. The hostess, manager and server were all patient with the fact that we took up a booth for two hours to watch the game (the US team prevailed, by the way).
For lunch, I had a delicious southwestern pasta with grilled chicken and red peppers; my daughter had a great report for her Korean beef tacos. The server was nice, and constantly refilled our drinks without asking.
For game-time appetizers, we ordered pretzels with craft beer cheese dip. These were amazing... soft, warm and so tasty. Our service was great (thanks Treva), in part because of the server's offer to create an iced coffee for me (off menu).
I highly recommend this restaurant location and it's service staff.
I had one of the worst dining experiences in my life at the TGIF in Erie on Peach St a few years ago. Â I have not patronized this TGIF or any other since then. Â
I took my wife and 2 teenage daughters there to dinner after a movie. Â We placed our orders and I specifically asked the waitor to have the mayo held from the club sandwich that I ordered. Â When the order arrived my sandwich had the mayo. Â No big deal. Â They were pretty busy. Â I would ordinarily just remove it myself and get on with it. Â But instead I mistakenly I and politely asked the waitor to return it and please have the mayo removed. Â He came back with the tomato removed but the mayo still there. Â
Now I'm confused. Â I again politely told him that the tomatos were fine but the mayo was what I wanted removed. Â A few minutes later the manager came to the table and asked what the problem was. Â I explained. Â The mayo issue for some reason still did not get resolved so I removed it myself and we finished our meals. Â I believe I even left a reasonable tip as I felt like perhaps I wasn't being clear enough.
I had patronized this TGIF and others dozens of times prior to this incident. Â In most cases I don't request any special treatment for an item like "hold the mayo". Â In fact, Â I will usually just take the mayo off myself. Â
BTW, Â I have found the food to be good at TGIF's but it takes more than good food for a pleasant dining experience.
This experience was a few years ago and perhaps management has changed and it's likely the waitor has moved on to a non service job.
Beware of the flare, I don't know of this was supposed to mocked after the movie officespace but they do a pretty damn good job here. The location of the place is easy to find and parking is plenty. Lets talk about the staff, here is something different in Erie all the staff were polite, put together and attractive and smiled. WOW, a manager at that place IS paying attention to whom they hire and keep.
I had the fish and I didn't like it at all, I eat a lof of fish and it didn't do it for me. I sent it back and asked for a cheese burger and before I could blink the cheese burger was in front of me given to me by the manager, either they give out 30mg of adderall to all the staff or they have a very good leader that runs a pretty smooth ship.
You don't go to TGI Friday's for the 4 star meal but you go there for the quick meal that won't put you to sleep and keep you from getting out of your SUV. So after you leave this place go across the street to bestbuy and walk around talking to the blue shirts.
