Gabriella's got banged up like many other places. Â Last night we took out, and ordered from the menu online. Â When I went to order in person (you can't seem to get thru on their phone line), I found that the menu was changed and limited. Â BUT, the waitress said I could probably get what was on the old menu. Â Yep, whoever was working the kitchen (yeah wizard!!) whipped up a phenomenal steak au poivre - my fave. Â And I've had this in France. Â Awesome. Â We also got an awesome Seafood Bianco - huge dish! Â My wife ordered the grilled porto mushroom salad (no longer on the menu) but we got it anyway. Â Everything was great. Â Thanks Gabriellas!! Â I'll be back soon. Â Great to see a local place keeping up the quality.
Review Source:FINALLY, GOT TO Gabriella's last night - a Friday Night at the Shore in August (after the past 2 years of wanting to go). Â First, the other reviews - SORRY, but don't agree. Â First, VERY HAPPY Â we were able to get a table at a shore bar-just because you are trying to get into a place-that actually has a table available-doesn't mean the food is bad. We thought the food was amazing! Â To boot - the band was great and just so much fun - Â and the semi-outside dining with a nice ocean breeze on a very hot/steamy day - we were able to sit and watch and feast on great appetizers and dinner! Â The hostess was a doll and the waitress, beyond sweet and very professional. Â The appetizer platter of eggplant rollatini, mushrooms, sweet sausage, and clams oreganato were delectable! - my son had the mozzarella sticks and they were fantastic - but the marinara sauce - even better! Â My husband and I shared the lobster platter for 2 which consisted of lobster (already split) , clams/mussels/scallops, and al dente linguini with a light (and sliced garlic) wine sauce - which is going to be enough for the next 2 days- (did I mention delicious?) and my son's cheesesteak which was a REAL steak (not a steak umm) cooked on the grill and served on a fresh italian seeded bread with cheese - Not what we expected, it was not greasy or fatty, just amazing. Â Love, Love this place, with it's food/ambiance. Â Cant wait to come back. Â The Band was great and fun with the best rendition of "Jersey Girl" we've ever heard! Â A complete package and so glad to hear this place is open in the winter! Â We'll be back, and actually sorry it's took so long to get there!
Review Source:Don't even think about going to this place...entertainment book or not.  It's your typical seasonal "jersey shore" restaurant whereby they have 2 months to make the most $ they can and aren't all that concerned about repeat customers or quality of the meal.    Having been to Italy several times and loving Italian food and eating in great Italian restaurants in NJ and NY, this is not Italian food.  My boyfriend said to me while eating that "it tastes like you tried to make it" since my culinary expertise is boiling water for my hot tea.  The food reminds you of  an Italian meal that you might get at your local diner.  The chicken marsala gravy was like water and the chopped up onions that sat on the chicken cutlet left an aftertaste in my mouth all night.  What adds insult to injury are the prices.  Chicken dishes $20 -$23 ????   Hello, the place isn't in SoHo, it's on a highway in Ortley Beach and I wouldn't even mind paying those prices if it were good.   The only plus was that the bread and service was decent as the waitress was a sweet girl.   My advice....head over the bridge to Toms River @ Fischer Blvd and go to  Cafe Italia .... great, quality Italian food in a beautiful restaurant with reasonable prices.  Never had a bad meal there, and they have a take out section as well.  Their bread (pizza bread) is to die for and their foccaccia pizza delicious.
Review Source:This review is 90% bar related and 10% food.
After reading previous reviews I wasn't headed in with high hopes. But the wife and I needed  a place within walking distance while visiting here on the jersey shore. The bartender , Angel, was fantastic. As a former bartender I don't I don't say don't use words like that often. Some  bartenders are there because it's job, others are there for the tip, but the rarest kind of all are there for the success of the restaurant. The
latter is Angel. Old world, personal service ,recommendations, and patience
Go quik, though. Rumor is he is starting his own place up in Hawaii. No surprise, here.
Oh, clams on the half shell were great, too.,
Well after having one of the most phenomenal meals I've ever had at the Jersey Shore the other evening, last night may have been the one to forget. It wasn't downright awful but it was certainly nothing to write home about and certainly not a repeat.
Gabriella's is your standard doesn't have a clue what it is trying to be type place located on Route 35 north in Ortley beach. If you eat in the front dining room or outside it's a beach type bar with associated sandwiches and appetizers more inclined to hooters type food. If you go in their back dining room, they give the resemblance of a fine dining establishment but with none of the attributes such as having a clue. Â Anyway although there were an abundance of tables available they put is the far back corner of the place and when asked to be moved to a more central location they said they want to give each server equal number of tables OK no big deal.
Server was nice enough and Pinto Grigio Santa Margareta was only $34.00 a bottle a small mark up from retail so we ordered one bottle of that and a  1/2 carafe of red sangria. The Bucket of Ice the wine came in had a giant insect plastered in the ice to the side of the bucket and the sangria was definitely Yago out of the bottle. After having the bucket changed out we moved to the meal.
The menu large and diverse ranging from every portion of the Country of Italy with no real direction on Southern / Northern Italian just FOOD. Â Ordered a family style salad for the table for 3-4 persons that could have easily fed 6. Definitely the best part of the entire meal. It had all types of fresh vegetables, cold lettuce and a nice balsamic dressing that really complimented the mix of greens. Unfortunately that is where the good reviews end.
4 Entrees were ordered and will review individually. First the "Incredible Stuffed Salmon special" as our server described it. Stuffed with abundant amounts of crab meat rolled and baked in a sauce. Â OK Salmon was on the plate with a giant lump of breading type crab something plopped on top with some none descript sauce this was in a word awful any way you look at it. Not rolled, not stuffed and have no idea what the crab meat concoction was.
Boneless chicken Savoy with side of potatoes and vegetables. Â White meat chunks of chicken seared or quickly fried with a vinegar brown sauce that had no body, and very little flavor. Only 3 little slices of fried potatoes on the side and some cold vegetables another of the take this back please type dishes.
Boneless Chicken "Country" which is their version of the Giambotta. Generous amounts of chicken, sausage, peppers, onions and sauce with again only a couple of potatoes slices. This was the best dish on the table by far.
Last but not least Chicken Rossini. Large Chicken cutlet over a heaping bed of angel hair pasta with a tomato sauce? Â Chicken breast large yes pasta was overcooked mush and the sauce was some white sauce with little to no flavor or tomato base. There was a SLICE OF TOMATOE put on top of the chicken LOL I guess that is what constitutes tomato base these days.
Bottom line here was absolutely no clue as to what they are trying to be  fine dining or bar food, they have a nice outside bar with TV's to watch games and a little 3 piece and for entertainment. My guess is that if they stuck to basic food they would be a hit but trying to be fine dining Italian without any idea of how to go about it they failed miserably.
Entrees were all $22.00 plus so it's not inexpensive. Â All and all this is a NON REPEAT and absolutely no reason to recommend. EL PASSO!!!!
Absolutely the worst meal I have ever had. Â We have a summer house in the area and we have tried this place three or four times. It is local and you can always get a table when all the other places are packed (that should be a hint that the food sucks). Each time seems to get worse. From the time you walk In the door it is a horrible experience. The hostess is miserable and the servers are worse. The last time We went there I ordered the veal pram, thinking I would be safe. The veal came out raw. Â The server told me that the chef gets very upset when people return "his veal" and it should be served rare. Needless to say we gave the place a few shots and no more. I will wait for a table somewhere else.
Review Source:Situated in a small summer resort town in New Jersey this little place is a neighborhood place that serves its year round local customers. Â Driving down the street, you would imagine that it is a deserted town with only a few Christmas decorations that were lighted.
The food here is nothing spectacular, my veal parmigiana did not taste any different from other places I have eaten it. Â BUT, the drinks were outstanding. Â I was served what would only amount to a triple in any other establishment at the price of a single.
I was told in the summer the place is jam packed and you cannot move, but hey, I will have to come back in the summer.
