Let me start out by saying my experience here has mostly been take-out for lunch and not dining in the restaurant. I'm not sure if that matters, or if the food really loses its freshness and flavor in the 5 minutes it takes me to drive back to work with it. This place tries really hard to look all upscale, from the bar, to the "market", to the banquet rooms. Honestly, it does look really nice inside, but the food and service is a different story.
I often used to pick up lunch for clients at work here. Personally, I never really liked much of anything on the menu. The only thing I liked is the Reuben, but it is so salty you feel like you can't breathe after you eat it and I usually ended up drinking about 4 bottles of water in the afternoon to quench my thirst. Most things are either very greasy or salty, (in fact, we have had meals literally SWIMMING in grease) or they are extremely bland. They do have daily specials that change every day, and it is very hit or miss - sometimes you end up with something not so bad. Some of the clients really love it here though, it seems like any of the fish dishes or salads are a favorite with them. And since I really don't like fish or salads, maybe that's why I can't wrap my mind around it.
The service, at least for takeout, is consistently terrible. They would usually tell me a pickup time, and I would often wait 10-20 minutes after they said it would be ready. The orders have had many problems with them as well, from missing sides, to wrong sides, to missing meat in the salads, to wrong dishes completely.
So, like I said, don't let your eyes fool you. Some people love it here, but I think there are much better choices nearby.
We stopped in at around 1:30pm on a Friday afternoon, after seeing the restaurant from the highway. The hostess gave us a tour of the restaurant, which is actually 3 restaurants in one: a sports bar, a steak house, and a wine room. You can order from the same menu in all three rooms, but we chose the steak house for its quiet atmosphere.
The steak house section is absolutely beautiful and romantic, with a waterfall and nature scenes on the big-screen televisions.
Our server (Jerry) was very helpful and gave us excellent service.
The fresh-baked bread was delicious, and so was the rest of the food.
Awesome food and people make this an excellent place to relax and have a great meal.
So, I haven't been to the sports bar in awhile so I can't comment to much. Except for the fact that the food is way over priced. The food is...ok. Things are generally cooked correctly, but they leave a lot of room for improvement for the price. Some of the servers and bartenders have been here for ages, and they are all great!
I recently contacted the Banquet center about throwing a catered 50th birthday party in February. I just started off by asking them what their options would be for a party of 25-30. They e-mailed me a "banquet menu" where prices started at $30+ per person for a buffet style dining. Â While I waited for more details from The Galaxy I went ahead and got price quotes from Bravo in Fairlawn and Cafe Bricco at The DoubleTree hotel in Fairlawn. Both places quoted me far more food, for around $20-$22 per person. I've eaten at all 3 of these places, and I've been far more impressed with Bravo and Bricco's food! They are all close in price in their general menus, but The Galaxy's food doesn't even compare. So, when I called around and I found out that Bravo and Bricco were willing to give me better quality and more variety for less money I went back to The Galaxy to see what we could work out.
I wrote them an e-mail that basically explained I had received quotes from other places which were offering me more food for less money. In addition, Bricco has offered to let me choose the color of my linens, center pieces and they even waived the $50 room fee. I asked them if we could work on a menu for my guests that would stay around my $20-$25 per person budget. I even offered to look at options from the less expensive sports bar menu. I went on to explain that the location of the restaurant is really ideal since I have family traveling from north and south. Even some coming from out of state, so how convenient is it that there are 2 hotels next to the restaurant.
The response I got: "I spoke with David in regards to offering a dinner for around the $20 price and unfortunately we are unable to match that price at this time."
Really?! I didn't ask for them to give me the $30 buffet for $20, I asked what they would be willing to offer for $20.
Needless to say, I won't be having my birthday party at the Galaxy, or any party for that matter. Their lack of flexibility and customer service is appalling. Â
It's unfortunate that in today's economy where any business is struggling to stay a float, coupled with the struggles of keeping any restaurant alive, they would not consider a more affordable option.
I have taken my $700 dinner budget to cafe Bricco, and they have been a gem! Look for that review after the party!
My husband took our young child here for dinner this weekend. They ended up leaving after being seated for 20 minutes without a server acknowledging them; even though they were sitting right next to the watress station. We will not be returning here anytime soon. It's a real shame that the owner/manager has allowed the servers to lose the restaurant business.
Review Source:I've eaten in the Sports Bar on a number of occasions with my family and have never left satisfied. Â The food quality is mediocre at best. Â The atmosphere is cool and casual with tv screens all over (even small screens in the back booths). Â The staff is kind and helpful. Â But if you are looking for a great meal, this probably isn't the place for you.
Review Source:I'm going to give this a two star even though it's more of a one star.
The main place that seems to be reviewed (and open most often) is the sports bar which is a downright one star in my book. I get sick every time I eat here. Everything is so incredibly greasy - and when I tried a salad it just was bland and the tomatoes weren't fresh or anything. I have tried a large array of things here, from appetizers to sandwiches, and I just can't eat anything that I like.
The ceiling is kind of cool, but it is always so COLD in this place. I have to wear my winter coat when it's winter, and in the summer, well, in the summer it's just unbearable.
I can't complain about service. We are usually the only people in here when we go. It is nearby family, so we end up here a lot.
Now, they get an extra star from me for what I assume is their cafe food. I had a wedding shower here, and the soup they had there (never on the sports bar menu, PS, I checked) was delicious, the salad was fresh, and thats all I ate. It was like it was catered from a different restaurant of something. They took the food away too soon though :(
Anyhow, I just kind of groan about this place. It's one of those restaurant names my husband and I say with a certain amount of disdain.
One of our favorite lunch spots at work. Â Great food and the daily specials make each trip a new experience. Â Good fish tends to be hard to come by here in Wadsworth (other than our excellent sushi place down the road). Â Order fish at an Apple Bees or other large chain restaurant and you know what i mean. The Galaxy has some of the freshest and best cooked fish. Â You can tell there is a real chef back there cooking your food. Â Not some one pulling something frozen out of a box and re-heating it.
I had one disappointment when some one in the kitchen used sugar in the mashed potatoes instead of salt  They were embarrassed and they quickly fixed it and made it right.
They are a great addition to the Medina county restaurants and first on my family's list of places to stop after church.
We went here using a Groupon yesterday with the kids and grandma. I was amazed at how large of a restaurant this was - basically four in one with a dining room, wine room, patio and another room. We sat on the patio since it was a nice day which was very nice with canopied bars stations and little waterfall. They had a steak menu and then a menu with burgers, pastas, etc. The artichoke-spinach dip was great! We mostly all got burgers which were all very good as well. I guess our Groupon was for the dining room only, but they honored it anyways.
Review Source:The Galaxy is a bar/restaurant establishment. Â I have eaten here many times and each time I wonder why I come back. Â The food is always disappointing. Â I dare you to order a steak. Â Double dare you! Â Unfortunately, it is not just the steak that is bad. Â About anything with meat will guarantee you one of those little chewy pieces that we all hate to bite into. Â It is hard to believe they are big into catering weddings and business functions with the food they serve.
Prices are descent.
Food aside-It is a great bar. Â The atmosphere is great and they decor is true to it's name, complete with a mural of the night sky on the ceiling. Â There is an outside patio that is great in the warmer months. Â As a drinking establishment I would give it 4 stars.
Here's a snapshot of my full review that I made:
For the handful of 'relaxing on a patio' months that we have here in Northeast Ohio, you should make your way down to the Galaxy. Drink, eat, and be merry in the sun or shade - just the fact that there is large outdoor eating area should keep you coming back here. The honest sandwiches, decent draft beers and occasional live music are bonuses.
Overall, I want to go back to the Galaxy and enjoy the outdoors. Sure, I have a patio at home, but it's always more fun with people around and someone serving you a drink instead of having to get up and get one. Plus, I don't have a waterfall at home. I'm also very keen on trying out their Wine Room - their website mentions that they do flights...that's always a good time.
I recommend going to the Galaxy and just having fun outside this summer. There aren't too many places with an outdoor area quite like this.

The Galaxy in Wadsworth is an upscale restaurant paired with a casual-dining bar & outdoor restaurant and a wine room. Â It's the best food anywhere between Norton/Barberton and north to Fairlawn. Â They know how to cook fish, their wine selection is huge and varied, and their relatively small dessert menu is nonetheless remarkable for its taste and presentation as well as for the fact that desserts are prepared on site. Â Quiet ambience in the wine room especially, but also in the dining rooms. Â Want noisy? Â Go to the bar -- but you'll get a different menu with unremarkable food. Â You can dress up to dine at the Galaxy or go upscale-casual and be at home. Â (In the bar, dress however you please.) Â The waiters like a conversation about good wines.
