Yes, the beer is good.  Very good in fact, my beer snob partner took home a growler of the black double IPA he enjoyed it so much.  However, you will be doing yourself a great disservice if you do not try the bloody mary.  It was honestly the most delicious bloody mary I've ever had and I've had a lot of bloody marys.

Also, the bartender was nice and fun and it was enjoyable to spend a Sunday afternoon chatting with him.

looong wait for food, but good service. our waiter felt bad for how long it took for us to get our meals and kept apologizing, which is a nice alternative to the waiters who usually ignore the table in these situations.

when we did get the food, it was decent. the bread that they brought out while we were waiting was probably better tasting than the meals...the ingredients used did seem fresh, the food just seemed dull.

the atmosphere of this place was quite clean and stylish in a trendy bar kind of way.

the location was prime - right amongst the other shops in downtown Galena.

I'd see myself coming back here when in town - it's a good option if you're looking for some standard American grub.

Galena Brewery was a nice surprise. We're craft beer fans and try to stop at local places, but Galena really exceeded our expectations. We sat at the bar and ordered two sample flights, one of their standard, year-round beers and the other of the five seasonals. The bartender was friendly and a font of knowledge, eager to answer our questions and chat about the craft beer industry in general. We even learned about the new-to-us strain of "Galena" hops that they use in a couple of their beers.

The place is brightly lit and open, like many warehouses-turned-breweries, and their equipment is all on site. They seemed to have a setup for live music, too, but on a Saturday afternoon, it was relatively quiet, with a couple of TVs and a few other tables.

The summer seasonals were great, especially the rye saison and the tart. I really enjoyed their flagship Annabelle's IPA, too.

We shared a Cuban sandwich, which was ok. The emphasis is on the beer, not the food. Definitely come here for a flight of beers, sit at the bar, and enjoy.
