Great place in downtown Oshkosh. Love stopping in here to grab a quick beer and bite to eat. They have a excellent rotating selection of craft beers and I can always find something new to try. Panini's are good, have had both the pear, brie and honey as well as the black and blue. My favorite part though may be the cheese and wine shop in the back. One of the few places I can find some of my favorite cheeses like Pleasant Ridge Reserve and Sartori Montemore.
Review Source:Our favorite place when we're in the area. Dean the bartender is super friendly and they have an excellent wine selection. The risotto is to die for. We have a cottage nearby and when we need a great meal, we stop here and always leave happy. The live jazz (no cover) is a huge plus too.
Review Source:Gardina's would be a really decent restaurant in a city like Milwaukee, Madison or Minneapolis; in Oshkosh it is magnificent. Â
I had a panini that was pretty enjoyable, though just a little bit bland. Â Fruit cobbler for dessert was tasty. Â Very good beer list. Â Very pleasant/capable/knowledgeable server. Â Nice decor. Â
Next time the gods punish me with a weekend in Oshkosh, I'll spend the whole time here.
I know it's a wine bar, but Adam (gardina's manager) has made this place a craft beer paradise as well. Â They have a carefully thought out draft selection with a great local sampling as well as a few gems from the rest of the country and Adam has gone to great lengths to make the bottle list even more impressive. Â These people are serious about their beer and it shows.
I wish I could have sampled more of their food before I had to leave town, but the curried peanut soup and corn and bacon chowder were both phenomenal. Â The bistro steak was also excellent.
Great beer, great food. Â Gardina's knows what it's doing.
Love, love, love. Stumbled upon Gardina's by chance while driving through Oshkosh for a conference. Â I dined here with a group of 9, and the staff was great at accommodating us. Â Gardina's has a nice selection of wine, along with an attached wine store area. Â The food menu includes sandwiches, paninis, and thin-crust pizzas. Â I had the margherita pizza ($9.99) with a glass of pinot noir ($7.50), and both were delicious. Â We had a wonderful experience here and hope to return to Gardina's while on future visits to the Oshkosh area.
Review Source:Great food, great atmosphere. Really haven't had anything here that wasn't solid, whether it's brunch, lunch, or dinner. The only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 stars is that is has a very short wine list for a place that calls itself a wine bar. (If there weren't a $10 corking fee for bringing in a bottle from the attached wine store, this wouldn't be quite as much of a problem!) But aside from the wine selection, the drinks are good, and the food is worth the trip.
Review Source:I loved Gardina's! I went with a friend and was blown away! Their fig flatbread may have been one of the best things that I have ever eaten! The spinach and artichoke dip was also good. My friend ordered the pear and Brie panini and it was amazing. I enjoyed the Mediterranean panini. I ordered a flight and enjoyed three fantastic red wines. It was great to sample before you ordered a glass or bottle. The service was impeccable. Our server happily split our bill and was very pleasant. My friend was looking for a specific bottle of wine that was on their menu previously (they must rotate the offerings) and the owner happily sold her a bottle. Great little shop connected! Wonderful gem in downtown Oshkosh! I will be returning!
Review Source:I had the lobster dip and mushroom risotta. Â Both were fabulous. Â The food is savory without seeming overly rich and the wine list is a solid list of reasonable wines. Â I had the Catena Malbec, which at $8/glass was right on the money for quality at a good price. Â I spent much of my meal with my eyes closed, savoring the great flavors and textures of the food. Â This is a must stop for anyone visiting Oshkosh, WI and a great spot for anyone just looking for fine dining quality food without the fine dining prices.
Review Source:Had dinner at Gardina's last night, food was good, people were very nice and service was excellent.
It was good enough for a do-over. Â They were able to provide me good vegan options. Â I had the roasted vegetable Panini(sp?)without goat cheese and it was exceptional. Â Wife had the Chioppini(sp?) and she really enjoyed it. Â Wine was good, it was a nice stop after a long day in the sun.
Great find in downtown OshKosh, definitely will go back again and again. Decent food and a good wine, beer and liquor list. Not many places I can think here that have all those choices. Atmosphere is great, nice service and well prepared food outside the norm of strip mall chains and low class food normally found in this town.
Review Source:This is a great place for lunch or dinner, with an extensive, unique menu. I had a hard time deciding what to get because they have a lot of options and so much sounded good. We split a couple of appetizers - the artichoke, spinach dip and the fig flat bread. Both were good but I LOVED the fig flat bread - fig compote, sharp cheese, and a bit of crunch with almond and scallions.
With a couple of appetizers, you could make one of their salads into a meal. I got the baked goat cheese salad. It was very tasty. My husband said the french onion soup was good - it's very hearty and thick.
We had some special desserts at home, so we didn't stay for that, but it looks like they have several kinds of cheesecake, if you're into that. They also have a really cute wine and cheese shop attached.
This is the best place to eat in Oshkosh, if you like something other than steak and potatoes or deep fried food. Â If you want interesting food that is served well, with outstanding service, in a unique setting, with stellar wine, this is the place. Â If you like the bottle of wine you have with dinner, you can go into the back where the wine store is, and buy a bottle to enjoy at home.
Review Source:What a nice change of pace for Oshkosh restaurants. Recently moved to Oshkosh and was having trouble finding a nicer place to have dinner. Food was excellent and the service was prompt. They had no problem with us finishing up at the end of the night even though they were closing. Will definitely return.
Review Source:A wine bar in Oshkosh? They get points for courage. It's cozy and intimate in the old downtown, which makes it stand out if you're looking for something out of the ordinary. (I trust I don't have to explain what ordinary looks like.) The menu selections are slightly more adventuress without being intimidating. (Pannini is a sandwich.)
I'm no wine expert but the wine list looks accessible with a focus on mostly West Coast American wines. I enjoyed a Pinot Noir from Oregon that was considerably dryer than most wines I get from wine bars and restaurants I've visited, even when I request a dry wine. Prices are reasonable and my only complaint is they could be more generous in their pourings for a glass of wine.
Was in town for work. Thank goodness we found Gardina's, otherwise it was fried food or texmex, midwest style.
Atmosphere:Gardina's was a refuge from the horrible late winter storm. The dinning room was okay, a little awkward and we felt like our table was kind of floating out there, maybe a few more architectural elements would help.
Food: Prices were very reasonable. I had a very good soup and a goat cheese and pear salad. Thank you for not having hard pears or super soft pears, they were just right. My fellow diner was pleased with the wine list.
Wait staff: Our waiter was very pleasant and was able to provide a nice pairing of wine. My friend ended up getting a bottle to take home too.
Store: We were able to grab some new and old favorite WI cheese and some wine from the attached store.
Overall, and for Oshkosh, this was a welcomed option for dining. If I lived in the area I would very likely visit often. I hope the business prospers.
