10/9/2013 - Had my first visit since Restaurant Impossible was there... the place is beautiful!  The wait staff was more on top of things since my last visit.
I had the fried chicken, mac & cheese and cole slaw... it was delicious!  They mentioned to us that they now roast the chicken in advance, before coating/frying,  cutting down on the prep time - good idea and it worked!  The mac & cheese was good as always and the slaw was too!.  The waiter promoted appetizers and desserts during our visit.... we had the Gator Bites, and Tempura Crawfish - both FABULOUS!  I went out of my comfort zone with dessert and chose the Bacon Brownie - well let me tell ya - you gotta try it - not overpowered with bacon, but the combination of sweet and salty was amazing!

I'd say that the guys learned a lot from Robert during his visit and have starting turning their business in the right direction... they still have some renovation going on and I'm sure that the bar area will be just as beautiful once it's completed.  Bathrooms haven't been touched since I don't know when, but I'm sure a little paint and cleaning will have those spiffed up soon enough.

Overall, I enjoyed my meal, service and the atmosphere... I'll be back soon!

Having eaten here prior to the make over, and not being impressed, I was curious what could have been done.  So I and some friends stopped by after the makeover.  The dining area looks great.  Nice atmosphere.  However the bathrooms need their own makeover.

On to the food...the menu is more limited, but it appears to have a good selection.  They were also offering specials for the evening, which I like because It gives you a break from the regular fare.  We started off with gator bites and tried the shrimp and grits meal as appetizers.   No one at the table had ever had either before.  The gator bites tasted like battered chicken breast.  Not bad, but nothing exceptional.   I'm not a fan of grits, but these had cheese in them...so how bad could they be?  Again, nothing exceptional.  The shrimp though, had a good flavor.

I chose the chicken pot pie, being a fan of pot pie.  It's hard to screw it up, but again nothing to rave about.  One of the party had the crab cakes, which included the collard greens.  He said that the crab cakes had a vinegar taste, but aside from that they were full of crab meat.  Keeping in mind they are not a Maryland crab cake, I think crab fans will like this meal.  I know the collard greens are a staple in the restaurant, but no one at the table is a fan of them, so I can't rate them one way or the other.

Two at the table chose the fried chicken meal.  The chicken was tender moist and had a unique taste, that keeps you wanting more.  The mac and cheese is baked, just like my mom did it and was very good.  The slaw was also very good.  Very much worth the visit to the restaurant.

We finished the meal with the peach cobbler.  another dish that is hard to mess up.  The ice cream was homemade vanilla...very good.

When we went the restaurant didn't have a lot of customers, so we had an attentive waitress.  She was friendly and informative.   Overall a very good experience.  We intend to return and try some of the other meals.

    Keep up the good work.

We were here prior to Restaurant Impossible and they were so slow our visits ended.  My wife wanted soul food, so we rode over.

Kitchen is so slow and my 4 year old had pink chicken.  And the new menu really tries to be upscale.  The menu really has little credibility.  The food was weak.  I wonder why Restaurant Impossible didn't throw the kitchen staff out.  I'll have to watch.

The bathrooms were disgusting. If I wasn't already disgusted by the pink chicken, the bathroom helped me just feel grossed out.

It is a real shame. The dining room service was outstanding.  They really are some of the best anywhere.  But the kitchen kills it.

We went to Georgia Boys Cafe 9/22/13 for dinner and it was not very busy. We ordered and waited a little over an hour for our food. When we asked our waitress about it she said she would check to see what was taking so long. She came back and said there was a "computer glitch" when really she forgot to put our order in. She told us that our meals would be comped but we had somewhere to be. We were very disappointed that it took her an hour to realize that she forgot our order when she had very few tables. We will not be returning.

Dined there on 9-14-2013 which was one week after Restaurant Impossible had worked their magic.  Will be interested in seeing the episode based on the current service and food.

Called ahead for a reservation.  When arrived they couldn't find us on the list.  Host was tripling as a wait staff and had to bus our table.  It took a full hour from being seated to having the food arrive.

Had an appetizer that was grits and collard greens.  It was to have cheese, bacon and tomatoes in the grits.  No tomato, no bacon, no seasoning and greens were very sour.

I had the chicken pot pie which was tasty with a very flaky top but could have used a bit more sauce.  My wife had fried chicken, mac and cheese and slaw.  Slaw was very good, chicken was not good, the mac and cheese was dried out and looked leftover from previous days.

Dessert: They were out of the banana pudding, wait staff had to ask the cook if there were raisins in the bread pudding (there are).  We were left with the choice of peace cobbler with bourbon ice cream or "bacon brownie".  Had the peach cobbler which was fair.  The ice cream was plain vanilla.  When asked the wait staff told us the cook hadn't had time to make any bourbon ice cream.

Avoid the restaurant which had no one managing it, but the attached bar was doing well.  Obvious from the beer banners in the parking lot announcing proudly they welcome bikers.

Fried Zucchini-ok, BEPC-good but ask for the sauce separate, catfish-great and make sure you get the sauce listed on the menu, and shrimp/grits-good but heavy cream cheese was noticeable.  Overall a good time, Owner was very accommodating, staff friendly, but the kitchen was slow. Will come again.

Ok so this place was one of those, you know it use to be good, but the let their standards slip kind of places. I got the shrimp and grits while both the shrimp and grits were cooked properly the shrimp was cold before it got to me but the grits were hot and the sauce was gelatinized bland and ruined the dish.

Their chicken wings are TO DIE FOR. That is, if you wanted to kill yourself from high cholesterol and obesity caused by overeating, their house chicken wings are totally the way to go. The sauce is made in-house, and they fry their chicken at a low temperature for a much longer time to keep it juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It's incredibly, out-of-this-world delicious.

I also had their pulled pork with a side salad and potato salad- all of which are made in-house and really tastes like it. We were glad to hear that everything is made there by the cook- no cheap, packaged flavors! My husband had friend shrimp with sweet potato fries, and he was blown away as well. We don't eat this heavy kind of food often, but the next time we're in the mood for a blissful bellyache, we'll think of Georgia Boy.

It's true, the building and decor isn't the best- it smells like a motel room and the Bob Marley and Jim Morrison posters make it look like a dorm. It's not gross; it's definitely a local joint, not a date place. But the homemade, delicious food makes up for it, and after you stuff yourself you can go for a stroll around the city park.

This restaurant has some good things and bad things going for it. Good things: Both times we've eaten there, the food was tasty, plentiful and well-prepared. The shrimp and grits was to-die-for. Hubby liked their ribs and fried catfish dinners with mac 'n cheese side. I enjoyed the chicken Chesapeake (a juicy, pan-cooked breast with crab dip  and melted provolone) with sweet potato mash and collard greens for sides. Staff is attentive and friendly. What's wrong:The atmosphere is severely lacking -- no unifying decor, too many mirrored walls, just not inviting. The cornmeal muffins crumble as soon as you pick them up (too dry, maybe over-baked?), and tasted like they were from a mix. First time I went, they forgot to bring my collard greens and some of the salad greens were slimy. Second time, they got it right. Although the wait staff are friendly, they could use some training. With a little more attention to detail and presentation, this could be an excellent addition to the Hagerstown restaurant scene.

Ate here during restaurant week and had the worst meal I have ever eaten. Food was terribly prepared and served and it was definitely not a value. Would never eat here again.  Should get a negative rating....

Our experience wasn't the best.  The service is very slow, which we expected since we read the reviews before going.  We had the fried chicken, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes and the fried whiting - oh and a salad that came after our meal. So, the fried chicken and fish were over fried, and not well seasoned.  The mac and cheese wad oily.  The sweet potato mash wad just ok, and the whiting had lots of bones!  We asked twice for the Salad we ordered as a side and it never came, so when we were finally able to flag down the waitress, I told her I wad done with my meal and didn't want it anymore.  The owner told her to bring it to me anyway in a to-go container.  I thought this was a nice gesture to please a customer, until the check came.  Not only did the salad not come out with or before my meal, we were charged $2.25 for it! Needless to say, we will not be going back!

Georgia Boy is a friendly new business in the old Park Circle Restaurant building.

Although the atmospere is a bit bland, the food is fabulous!

Fried chicken just like my southern granny made, flavorful greens, and I know that mac-n-cheese was homemade!  In fact, I was informed that all food is homemade and cooked to order, so we're talking fresh!

I'd definately go back to get my southern fix, but I wish they'd perk up the atmosphere a bit and make it more "homey".
