Took a group of 7 in for my son's birthday and was so excited to try a new sushi place...so much so, that we drove through a tornado watch to get there! Â When we arrived I was a bit nervous. Â The inside decor does NOT scream Asian Fusion. Â The walls are very blank and the whole place seems a bit cold and drab. Â The sushi counter had no chef behind it and there was no fish in the cooler. Â Somewhat odd I thought. Â I felt like I was at more of a breakfast diner. Â Minus one star.
Having said that, after eating all the dishes we did, that's the only star I will deduct. Â Between the 7 of us, we tried the beef teriyaki, lo mein, orange chicken, sweet and sour pork, tuna sashimi, vinegar octopus, the sexy roll, the spider roll and a few other things I cannot recall. Â Every dish was fantastic and very flavorful. Â The sashimi and the rolls that we ordered were beautifully plated (refer to pics of rolls I took), as was everything for that matter. Â The fish on my sexy roll seemed a tad lacking in flavor but delicious nonetheless.
Our server, who was 1 of 2 employees in the place, did a wonderful job keeping us satisfied with some great humor added in.
Overall I was VERY pleased. Â A 5 for food (both flavor and presentation) and service but a 3 for atmosphere. Â For Asian Fusion, the place needs a bit when it comes to decor and warmth. Â I shall return!
Ginmiya Asian Diner has become my family's favorite restaurant in Evansville. Â Ginmiya has everything you'd want from as Asian restaurant. Â First, their food is absolutely delicious. Â Every dish is passionately prepared with fresh ingredients, served at the proper temperature, and plated with finesse. Â Most of their dishes look like a work of art! Â Second, their staff is terrific. Â When you go to Ginmiya you are treated as a valued customer. Â They always go the extra mile to make sure you have a great experience and want to come back. Â The menu offers plenty of variety so they're sure to have something for everyone. Â The dining room and bathrooms are extremely clean. Â Now that they've been around for about six months it seems like they are developing quite a few regulator customers. Â I've seen several people return on more than one occasion. Â
Ginmiya Highlights:
- Spring roll
- Mushroom soup
- Hot & sour soup
- Hibachi steak & shrimp
- Chicken with broccoli
- Mango chicken
- Shrimp Udon
- Banana spring roll (Dessert)
They have an excellent sushi chef. Â Customers rave about the Hawaiian Roll & Sexy Girl Roll!
Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Food was served quickly and hot and was extremely artistic! We ordered appetizers, sushi rolls and entrees and were pleased with all. Pricing seemed a little high though as this was not a "high end" establishment. Would likely  return. A pseudo complaint was the music- I didn't expect to hear country in an Asian restaurant.
