We went to Gino's for dinner in late June 2013 based on the three very good reviews it received.  Well, we were a little disappointed.  I'll go through some pros and cons.  On the pros side, the portions were definitely large.  The bread sticks (large order) were gigantic and were very good.  It was basically the size of an extra large pizza!  On the cons, they had run out of lemonade and milk as dinner beverage choices (bummer for the kids), and had also run out of blue cheese dressing for the salad.  I really think that restaurants shouldn't ever run out of those pretty basic items.  Our party (nine of us) also found that all the sauces in our meals (lasagna, calzones, etc.) all had a sweet taste to them, which you really don't want in Italian food.  The lasagna was a bit odd also as it had not only ground beef, but sliced beef in it as well.  I've never seen lasagna with sliced beef in it.  Perhaps this is a local thing?  All in all, I'd give it 2 stars as it was a mixed bag.  I'd suggest trying Pino's Pizza instead.  It's outside of  Boydton on Route 4.
Review Source:So there we were, driving through Clarksville looking for a bite to eat. Not exactly bursting at the seams with restaurant choices, we settled on Gino's mostly because it was open.
But this was a pleasant surprise and one we wouldn't hesitate to go back to. We ordered one of their specialty pizzas, and we both ate a lot more than we intended to ... and no just because we were hungry. The dough was made fresh, the toppings are generous and it was served with a smile.
The proprietor made some of his traditional Middle Eastern dessert for us, and it too was absolutely delicious. A gracious and warm man, we chatted with him on the way out and got the impression that he really loves this restaurant.
I hope Clarksville knows what a treasure it has in Gino's and its wonderful staff.
Me and my friends stopped in at Gino's for some dinner while in Clarksville, VA attending a bowling tournament. Â From first glance, we were not really that impressed. Â Once we entered the restaurant (around 3:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon) it was fairly empty. Â Our waitress Stephanie was such a joy that she made our first time visit the BEST. Â She explained that all of their ingredients were homemade. Â Me and my friend ordered the Shrimp and chicken alfredo (which was the best we've ever had). Â My other friends order pizza and the calzone (which as the size of the entire plate). Â The Food was absolutely the BEST italian food I've had in very long time. Â If you're ever in the Clarksville, VA area please be sure to stop in and ask for Stephanie. Â She's the BEST!! Â Also, she did most of the painting inside and outside of the store... This restaurant does not serve alcoholic beverages but the FOOD AND SERVICE was the BEST!!!
