I found the Ruther Glen Town Dump and they go by the name, Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant! Â The Bathrooms were filthy - Rachel T. was very very rude and not friendly at all. Â My Chicken Salad was disgusting. Â There was hardly anything to it and they chop their chicken into little tiny pieces. Â They are completely under staffed and it took about a half hour to finally cash out after I received the bill. Â This is the kind of restaurant you would see on the show Restaurant Impossible!
Review Source:Stopped off on our way back from Southern Shores. Food was a little better than average. Antipasto salad little more than iceberg lettuce and cold cuts, but the baked canaloni was fine. Garlic knots were well prepared, not to much butter and oil. The offerings for the kids were pretty standard, with very good fries and pizza slices that would fill an adult. Not much else for food around it otherwise, so a good alternative to driving around with hungry and grumpy family, especially the kids.
.
Generous portions and good prices. Children's spaghetti with meatballs was enough for 2 adults! Kids plain cheese pizza was two slices. Delicious antipasto salad, delicious garlic knots. My husband got a mushroom cheesesteak and my father in law got the chicken parm sandwich, both medium size. Both were very satisfied and thought their sandwiches were delicious. Onion rings were great too! Wait staff was friendly and service pretty quick. Great place to stop off I-95 and way better than fast food.
Review Source:Having been here 4-5 times now, trying new items, I'm discovering my first review was a little inaccurate.
We're gone from... VERY GOOD to MEH to NOT SO HOT. Â How does this happen?
My major disappointment stems from last night's dinner. Â I ordered the sm Sicilian pizza. Â The topping were good, but the crust was dried out, hard, over baked and crumbly. Not fresh at all. Â No sign of there ever being any olive oil in the crust pan when cooked. Â Â
I didn't even want to take the rest home, but my GF insisted. Â Â I tossed it later.
My GF had the Veal Parm, Â and that was hard and overcooked/pre-cooked too. Â She also didnt finish her meal. Â Yet no one asked us if everything was alright?
So between my first visit (Nov 2012) and now, my opinion of this place has taken a downhill slide. Â I'm not saying I won't return, but I'll stick to the menu items that were good in the past. Â I wish I didn't have to write things like this!
I miss L&B Spumoni Gardens! Â :)
We enjoy it here. The ingredients taste fresh and there is a nice small town atmosphere. You may encounter a less than friendly waitress (we did once). If you order an entree like chicken Marsala spaghetti comes as the side and their are no noodles with the Marsala. Its a good idea to ask for no sauce with the spaghetti so you can use the noodles with the sauce in the entree :) I'd give four stars but spotty service has cost them one.
Review Source:Stopped here thanks to a blue information sign on I-95 that had it listed for "Food" at Exit 110. Â A quick look at my Yelp app showed this place had some promise. Â When I pulled up and saw it appears they are adding on to the building, I figured they must be doing something right.
Well, it wasn't the most fantastic pasta (shrimp fra diavolo) I've ever had, but it was quite good and definitely a thousand percent better than stopping at some chain restaurant. Â
Everything had a homemade feel, was light and service was quick. Â Perfect for a quick stop during a long drive!
I will definitely keep it in mind for drives back and forth to DC.
This is decent Italian food, but I am extremely biased because I'm from NY and nothing compares to NY pizza. But considering this is the closest place for pizza near us, I'm glad that it is pretty good. I especially like the Giuseppe's Special pizza and the garlic knots. The stromboli was terrible - it was soupy and we couldn't even eat it, but the calzones are pretty good.
I'm not as happy with the entrees - they are okay, but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice and I'm thankful that they voluntarily went smoke free. Overall, I'd recommend it for pizza and as a decent family restaurant.
