Oh Glenn,
You marvelous little diamond in the rough you...
So I live 4 blocks from this place and just recently noticed it's existence. Great service, great drink specials, phenomenal right-size portioned meals and local atmosphere. If you get the chance swing on by and get a Glenn drink token during happy hour. (Try the Spicy Turkey,) sounds stupid I know, but blew my mind.
This place doesn't disappoint.
OH YEAH! Â I am LOVING The Glenn! Â I grew up in Thornton/Northglenn and remember as a teenager how I felt like I was in a restaurant chain hell. Â The Glenn offers a British pub style environment (wood booths/bar) and a really tasty menu with good prices. Â
Another thing I like about The Glenn is that they have karaoke, trivia, and live music nights. Â It really helps not having to drive all the way to Denver to find entertainment! Â
Keep it up, guys! Â You've found a loyal customer!
Good stuff!
I've been there to see Trainwreck a few times now. Always a great show! I've only sat on the patio and had drinks, apps, and dinner, never inside. Indoors seems pretty nice though, walking through.
While their beef is not grass fed, they state that it is fresh ground by a small local producer. A step in the right direction! The burgers are quite tasty. Good sweet potato fries. I like the fish and chips too. The green chili dip is not spicy at all, and it is quite cheesy. It's a bit wetter than some, not as thick and gooey as you might expect. Good flavor, just not what I expected. They could use a stronger/thicker tortilla chip that would hold up better to being dipped.
Drinks are good. It's more of a beer place than mixed drinks. The first gin and tonic was better than subsequent. Different bartenders maybe...very different pours. Service is friendly but at times a little slow. I think they need to staff up a bit more for popular band events.
Plenty of people bring their kids, even for the loud music. It is fairly family friendly, although there were some smokers later on in the evening.
I like The Glenn, I'll have to go for lunch or something another time, even when Trainwreck is not playing. They're awesome though!
Oh Glenn, I try so hard to like you. Â I want to like you... but it's just not working out.
I wrote my previous review based on our "bar night" here, but on the most recent occasion, we brought the whole fam.
The high booths are kind of nice; my toddler liked sitting high up and my one year old could sit in a booster seat and sit at the table just fine. For an early dinner (5pm-ish) it was BUSY.
The fried pickles were great.
Our burgers and other fare was so-so. Â Typical bar food. Â The beer selection, however was ABOVE expectations and we were quite pleased there. I had some kind of IPA from Chicago and the hubby had a Batch 19, both on draft. Â Nice.
Service was SLOW; this is always exacerbated when you have kiddos in tow. Â They start whining and it seems like things take even longer. Â Because of this, I watched the time, and it wasn't just me, it was slow.
However, the main reason I probably won't be back here in the near future:  my husband could not stand the top 40/hip hop/dance tracks that they were BLASTING the whole time.  Not just background music... BLASTING so loud that it was hard to have a conversation.  I can stand that kind of music a bit more than he, but it does seem really weird that a place with a "biker bar" kind of atmosphere would be blasting  the newest J-Lo remix hit rather than some classic rock.  As we were leaving, the band on the patio was sounding much better.
Saturday night is prim rib night and its pretty good. Make sure you get there early though sometimes the prim rib runs out.
I have been to The Glenn a few time the fish and chips are another good pick off the menu. My favorite are their fried pickles, they are probably the best that I have had. I love that they fry spears it makes them much easier to eat.
Overall this place is a lot of fun with the live bands, karaoke and there is always a game or something to watch on all the tvs.
I came here on a Tuesday to play Geeks Who Drink. The service was fantastic. The person behind the bar was very quick to refill my drinks, make sure I had everything I needed, and also did some conversing to get to know me a bit. I felt welcomed immediately. So many places forget the human factor, and this place didn't. They have karaoke on Thursdays and Fridays also, but it gets really packed for that. Get there early so you can get a seat. They also have a giant patio that will be great when the weather gets warm. They have a great number of craft beer on tap and delicious burgers. If you are in Northglenn, check this place out. You will be glad you did.
Review Source:This isnt a dive bar, this is just a great bar. They have a decent selection of draft beers and great burgers. I think they have Karoake some nights but I've never stuck around for that. We've come her for lunch, dinner, and happy hour after work. The servers are pretty no-nonsense, but they are always attentive and get the job done.
Review Source:This is truly a great local place to hang out. There is karaoke on Thursdays and Fridays which is always fun to go and check out. If you are looking to have an in-depth conversation, this may not be the place for you. It is a pretty loud place but its easy to talk to whoever you may be sitting next to. There is a patio outside with a firepit if you need to step out which is nice. As far as food goes, I always get any one of the burgers because they are great and the sweet potato fries get a lot of love too. Drinks are pretty standardly priced but happy hour is really where it is at, 2-for-1 drinks before 5 if i remember correctly.
Review Source:They always have good specials. They have boardgames too which we took out once and played over drinks. My only real complaint is that almost every time I've been in it's taken the server a long while to initially get to our table and sometimes a while to get their attention otherwise. It can get loud. The food was cheap, good, and quickly delivered. The servers were sweet.
Review Source:Yummy yummy yummy burgers!!! Never frozen beef??? What??!?! Â You can taste the difference. This is a bar that seems out of place but walk inside and you will feel the neighborhood warmth! Â Decent pricing on food and drink and good healthy pours will keep us coming back! Â If yiu want to sit down during karaoke I suggest you get your booty there before it starts! Â We waited forty minutes and snagged some seat at the bar! Great bar! Will come back again and again.
Review Source:Went here last night for a late diner. Â The first thing I noticed was the noise level. Â It is pretty loud. Â TV's going everywhere, pretty crowded and warm inside. Â The waitress was on top of stuff and got our drinks out quickly. Â
For starters we had wings and quesadillas. Â The quesadillas were really good, but the wings were a little overdone. Â For main course, we had a burger, fish and chips, and the Monday Special, a pulled pork sandwich. Â Food was good, but nothing really memorable.
Restaurant was A-ok - not bad, not great. Â Since it's close to my brother's apartment, I would probably go back, but I wouldn't make a drive to go there.
I *heart* the Glenn. It's everything I've always wanted. DELICIOUS burgers, good fries, awesome service, laid back atmosphere, fried pickles, great beer...I could go on and on. If it gives you an idea of how much my husband and I love this place, it was the first place we thought of for our last "date night".
The only thing I would change is that it's a bit loud inside.
I had a great time there last weekend.  They were completely packed and everyone was out on the patio for karaoke.  In between karaoke songs they were playing a good mix of modern music  The crowd was a mix of ages ranging from 20s-50s and the food was great.  The burger was pretty greasy but good sized for bar food and the sweet potato fries were awesome.  They smoke their own barbeque in-house so I'll be trying that next time I go.
Review Source:I used to live close to this place & visited frequently. Â Haven't been there in awhile since I moved, but was in the area last week and decided to stop by. Â It was JUST as I remembered! Â
It's out of the way, probably what some would call a "dive," however it's anything but that. Â They have awesome food, live music certain days, and an outside patio for the smokers. Â The burgers and blood mary bar are fabulous. Â Very casual atmosphere....flips flops and tank tops are dressy. Â
Btw....don't miss the cinnamon roll waffle. Â Creme cheese frosting! Â Yum :)
This place is such a solid 4 stars, that if I see it slip to 3-1/2 stars, I'll change my review to 5 stars. Â After reading the reviews on Yelp, this place was exactly what I expected and wanted. Â Went with my grandson for brunch. Â Hot day (well air conditioned). Â Service was splendid. Â They made a smaller meal for my grandson and barely charged anything for it. Â He loved their lemonade and I loved my bloody mary from the bloody mary bar. Â No crowds. Â No wait. Â Just perfect for what we were looking for.
Review Source:Summary- Awesome local place somewhat off the beaten path (for tourists anyways) delivers solid food, good service, and good atmosphere.
Food- 4 Stars
Nothing that's gonna get any michelin stars, but solid and as promised.
Fried Pickles were very good, nachos were a solid rendition.
Burger was awesome, and I am not one to say that lightly. Perfectly cooked, all the ingredients were excellent.
Salad was also very good and huge, although the chicken on top could have looked more appealing for sure.
Atmosphere- 5 Stars
Just a awesome neighborhoody feel with a cool bar and big booths. Can get pretty loud.
Service- 5 Stars
Quick, friendly, and brought us a bunch of extra water when asked to.
Drinks- 4 Stars
Nice beer menu with good selection.
This is the perfect local dive. I say dive but its still really nice and clean. It just has that great warm dark homey quality a good local bar should have. We stopped in on a Sunday night and it wasn't packed but still fairly busy.
We started with some fried pickles because I can rarely turn down fried pickles at a bar. They were the big spear style and were nice and warm and crispy. Perfect. I got the Maytag burger with sweet potato fries. It is your basic blue cheese and bacon burger. I was a little sad about the amount of blue cheese on the burger. It was just a small amount in the middle and the bacon wasn't much different. I am a big believer in having each bite of your burger include everything on the burger and it just wasn't going to happen with the proportions. BUT the burger was big and juicy and yummy so I still managed to scarf the whole thing down. The SP fries were fairly basic but still yummy. The boy got the steak sandwich and loved it. The chunks of steak were perfectly medium rare.
As we were getting ready to leave the live music was being set up. It was just a dude and his guitar but he was good. Behind him was a wall with board games and the booths were nice and big. It was really the kind of place you go to hang out in the neighborhood. Too bad it isn't my neighborhood!
In the area, this is the finest local bar around. Â The staff has always been great. Â This is my go to spot in the area. Â The menu is simple but very good. Â The beer selection is balanced if not excellent. Â Nice patio/beer garden in the back. Â It is almost too popular for my taste now as it can get crowded. Â Also free wi-fi if you are in need.
This is what local bars are supposed to be like.
This has become a regular hang out. Â We found out about this place because it was the after work hangout for our favorite 975 North (god rest its soul) waiters.
It's just out of the way enough to be "locals only," but still is almost always full (a good sign).
The ambience is dive-bar size but MUCH cleaner and with more attention given to the look and feel. Â We love the lights (school light type globes hanging from the ceiling). Â The booths are cozy, and while the place definitely has a buzz, it's never too hard to hear each other and have a conversation.
The burgers are THE BEST. Â They use local Colorado beef, so this is one of the few places where I'll still have a burger.
I feel a little like I shouldn't be reviewing this place, 'cause I don't want too many people to catch on, but it's definitely our new "go to" local spot.
The Bloody bar alone is worth the four stars. Â They have everything (except Montreal Steak Seasoning...hint, hint) and it is clean. Â As you know, not all stay that way! Â The burgers are yummy as are the nachos.
Not sure I've had any thing bad, it's all good.
Drag yourself on over.....you'll be smiling for hours!
One of our favorite low-key, good food bars to go to. They have daily specials, but our favorite is the Sunday night Country Fried Pork Chop....not healthy, but OHH so delicious. The beer is always cold and the food is always great. The servers are friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed. They have a patio for summertime use, and it's always sure to be a good time.
Review Source:Delicious! Cheap! Great atmosphere!
I thought my mom was kidding when she said they had the best burgers around - they are wonderful!
They taste meaty, there is no greasyness or fat on them ... and the pulled pork was similarly lean and cooked perfectly.
I recommend the fried pickles and sweet potato fries!
I have been the Glenn several times and there are things that I love, the food is good, sweet potato fries are yummy and they offer a variety of vegetarian options.
But every single time I have been the service has been horrible. This time is was Tuesday night and they have Geeks who Drink, you would think they would staff for that well I guess not. One bartender and she was way behind. It took 15 mins to get a beer and we were sitting at the bar!
I understand if they were wall to wall but they were not, the service was just not really up to par.
I've only been to The Glenn for drinks at the bar so I can't rate the food. Â I've seen what they offer and the prices seem really low so I'll have to check that out sometime.
I was there on a Saturday night and they had a guy at a mic with a guitar. Â He was pretty good! Â The music was a bit too loud but we still enjoyed it for the most part.
The worst part was the service. Â The bar is a "U" shape and from where I sat I could see two sides and part of the third side. Â At one point every person sat with an empty glass or bottle in front of them and we all watched the bartender ignore us. Â It did have one benefit because it got us all to talk to each other. Â We had something in common -- we were all thirsty!
When a couple came in and sat at the bar I glanced at my watch to time it. Â They waited five minutes to get some attention from the bartender. Â Then they finished their drinks and watched the bartender for awhile. Â Eventually they decided to go somewhere else. Â Yes, the second round had us all talking to each other again. Â It didn't take our bartender very long to get tabs and money, at least.
Lastly, the bartender put a bottle of Crown Royal near us and we had a chance to stare at it for a bit. Â The label looked as though it had been washed many, many times even though the bottle was full. Â If you ask me, that means that they wash the bottles very often (they didn't look like that was the case) or they were refilling bottles. Â Interesting.
I still want to try the food sometime but I think I'll find another place for beverages.
The Glenn is our favorite local pub. The atmosphere is great, lots of wood and vintage lighting and floor tiles. They have specials nightly and a bloody mary bar on the weekends. The food is suprisingly delicious and diverse for bar food. They also have a brunch menu. The reuben is good, so is the green chili. They have board games if you like and great booths to sit in. Trivia on Tuesday nites!
Review Source:I like this bar...  From the outside it does not look like much.  Once your in it feels more comfortable .  Had a nice neighborly feel with friendly staff and very good food.  I was expecting simple greasy bar food but was surprised at the variety and quality of the food.  Not the  cheapest place, but a the food was very good for the price.
I have been twice now and I'll go back again..
My girlfriend and I went here for a lunch based on the reviews already posted. Â The great reviews are well deserved. Â I walked in, I dug the atmosphere. Â The waitress was great; super chatty but not in a forced way. Â A pretty good selection of beers to choose from on tap, and I managed to get in during happy hour to get a buck off my Fat Tire draft.
I got the southwestern burger and it was delicious. Â I wish I could taste the green chile more, but the taste of the meat was excellent. Â They also formed the patty to have a greater diameter and be a little flatter, which is welcome considering some places almost put a ball of meat on a bun. Â The bun was also delicious and perfectly sized for the burger. Â I like how they made a point on the menu of mentioning that their ground beef is from a local place, as are their buns. Â My girlfriend got the avocado melt and while she wasn't as impressed as I was with my burger, she still enjoyed it a lot. Â
The prices were very reasonable. Â The draft beer (real beer, not swill like bud light) is a little overpriced, but it's not outrageous. Â
Overall, a great restaurant with good food, good beer, good atmosphere, and good service. Â They check every box on the good restaurant checklist for me.
We've eaten here several times, and it's pretty darn good food. Â Atmosphere is good... easygoing, intelligent staff. Â Seems obvious they won't just hire a warm body to work here... they must screen pretty heavy to get smiling bartenders and wait staff who seem to really care about their customers. Â
Good beer selection, quick service and a pretty wide variety on the menu for a bar. Make sure to try the fried pickles. Â They're spears... not slices, and well fried in a tasty batter. Â
I'll rate them 9 PBR's out of 10.
Service, FOUR STARS !!.....The bartender put the Rockies game up for us at the bar ! (Really, in a few other places....they do not wanta put up the Rockies for us......) I like that some bars have the Stella Artois glasses...with the stem, so...that you can look cooler drinking your beer. I feel so much classier with the genuine Stella glass....
Food, THREE STARS!!!....Why you ask? My husband asked for a burger with just lettuce. When it was delivered just a short jaunt from the kitchen, the server asked him if he had wanted the tomato's, lettuce and onions. He told them...nope, just lettuce....and we watched them (from the bar) pick off the extra condiments he specifically did not ask for off the burger in the window. .... otherwise, he enjoyed his burger which was cooked to temperature as requested.
I had the "Ballpark Nachos" The menu promised some sort of cheese sauce...or cheese, beef chili and onions, tomato's and sour cream. I think the ratio of the latter was good...(Oh, and pickled jalapenos..) but the chili was hardly there. I found a few beans and a random piece of ground beef, but I felt no real chili presence there. Cheese? A few sprinklings of cheese matter...no discernible cheese sauce to be detected. The chips were cold and some of them stuck together from frying..and a few of them too dark. I was happy that it appeared that they fried their own chips...although they were careless in the process. Their salsa was really good, which I asked for to add more flavor to the nachos.
I really used to love the Glenn for the above bar food quality. Now, not so much. : /
Yep.... Just Love It!
Whenever I am in the mood for a burger, this is the place to go. Â Burgers are beyond good and with sweet potatoe fries and fried pickles on the side, it just doesn't get any better for me! Â It's a great neighborhood bar and with trivia night, kareokee, outside patio with live music in the summer and cheap drink specials, how can you go wrong. Â Not in the mood for any of that, well just go grab a board game and get on with it already. Â I can remember a night with a group of 6 sitting in the big booths drinking PRB and playing JENGA - good times. Â I've been here more than I should note, but will keep coming back anytime I get that burger or PBR crave:)
Beautiful patio, great atmosphere, and affordable hang out! The sweet potato fries and fried pickles are really tasty, the burgers are yummy and there is a beer for any taste.
If you go, you have to check out the patio. It's so comfortable and well put together. This is no corporate owned same ole'. Â This is my new hangout!
I don't want to like this place. I hate finding awesome places on vacation. You know, 'cause I'd love to go there all the time. While not as awesome as Squeeze in Marfa, Texas, this place still falls in that category.
The awesome thing is that it doesn't look like anything from the outside. An older, ugly building conceals the delicious inner beauty of the Glenn. The decor is cute-- a mix of super old school (30s and 40s esque tiling) and more modern hip (the tiny little lunch trays that the food comes on instead of plates).
The only particularly negative thing I have to say about the place was that the booths can be a little hard to get out of if you're not a twig-- the table and an armrest at the end of the seat are a little too close together. Oh, and we saw my dining companion's salad being made. It looked like they were piecing it together one piece of lettuce at a time. But that isn't so much negative as it was kinda funny.
Anyway, the cheapish draft beers ran around $4 but there were cheaper bottled beers I think. I had a burger, which was damn good, and the food that my dining companions had looked good too. The fries came in a little metal bucket/cup thing.
Adorable.
AND delicious.
Once the location of a biker bar, the remodeling and reopening of the Glenn was a pleasant surprise. After peering through the windows on drive by's and seeing more SUVs in the parking lot than bikes we thought it was safe to enter.
We were both pleasantly surprised. Well portioned burgers in cleaver little trays, holding any condiment you could think of. The decor was comfy and casual though slightly too yuppie for the neighborhood. The beer selection is decent and the daily drink specials aren't bad.
I love bars and pubs with trivia night and board games. There's nothing wrong with a little drunken competition. Though if stop by to play Jenga...please don't steal the tiles!
I shouldn't like The Glenn, but I do.
A nondescript little neighborhood bar in Northglenn, full of exactly what you would expect: Â backwards baseball caps, really bad facial hair decisions, and women wearing outfits that would have been a bad idea 15 years ago, much less now.
But for some reason, I dig it.
First off, it's cute. Â The decor is modern pub. Â Lots of wood, high-backed booths, and a centerpiece U-shaped bar in the middle. Â They have a full menu consisting of bar standards, but all done well. Â The burgers and sandwiches are really good, and they add their own touch to the presentation by doing things like serving their fries and fried pickle spears (yes, I said fried pickles) in little metal pails. Â Service is super friendly, and they have a killer happy hour with half prices apps and drink specials that include 2-for-1 pints of PBR for $2.50 (can I get a HELL_YEAH!). Â They have a patio in the back, but from what I can tell from what's behind the Glenn, it's more for smokers than for the view. Â They also have a trivia night and occasionally bands.
Every time I go, I invariably make some smartassed remark about the knuckleheads, or the old drunks, or the cougars, but I'm always happy to go back. Â Maybe it's the cheap PBR and smiling servers. Â Maybe it's the fried pickles. Â Or maybe it's just that I appreciate a good neighborhood bar, even if I don't really connect with the neighborhood.
Cheers!
