Map location is not accurate. Located west of I-75, not east.
This is a local, down-home place. Don't expect fancy, but everyone is friendly. I have been coming to the area on business for several years, but this was my first visit to Golden Girls based on a recommendation from a colleague.
The Mexican omelet was quite good, with no skimping on the jalapeños. It was served hot. The coffee was pretty good, and the service fast.
I like a place that serves breakfast all day.
I wish I had eaten elsewhere. Â This was my least favorite restaurant I have eaten at in a long, long while. Â The service was good and the decor is fine. Â The problem I had was with the food.
Ordered:
Pot Roast - Grade F - The meat tasted old and like it had been boiled in water. Â The roast included baby carrots and potatoes boiled in water. Â The gravy tasted like box gravy mix. Â So, after all the components were boiled separately, the bland gravy was poured over it.
Philadelphia Cheese Steak - Average - nothing special
Visited here in June 2010. Â Stumbled upon this restaurant on the way home from vacation. Â I ordered the broasted chicken and it was averagve. Â My sides were cucumbers and onions, and mashed potatoes and gravy. Â If you are looking for a friendly, fast and affordable meal, this is a good place.
Review Source:I always find it odd when the desserts cost more than an entree, in this case the Red velvet cake out-priced the burger. This time it was worth it though as the dessert was truly the best part of hte meal. Fried mushrooms, grilled (dry) trout and a big burger were sampled. The cornbread is what you'd expect, sweet and cooked in cast iron, mac & cheese nothing special. Stop in for dessert on the way to or from Norris Lake.
Review Source:It's a hangout for local adults - mostly middle-aged and older. Standard country or home cooking fare and maybe a little better than Cracker Barrel. The food's not bad but nothing I've ever eaten here was memorable. I've always thought the prices were a little high for what you get. We only go here when we are meeting someone who grew up here and likes the place.
