Pretty good food. Â We both had burgers. Â They were good, but the patties were overcooked and dry. Â The buns and veggies and cheeses and sauces were delicious, but it is hard to enjoy a burger when the patty isn't cooked right. Â The barbecue sauce was really good! Â Nice smoky flavor.
The service sucked. Â It was the middle of the day and there weren't many other people there and it still took the waitress forever to get our orders in. Â She came by for the drinks order and then disappeared for a long time. Â Then brought the drinks and said she would be right back for our orders and she disappeared again. Â This time when she came back we figured we should get our orders out fast before she disappears again and in the middle of giving the order, she interrupts to excuse herself because she didn't have a pen to write things down.....and disappears again for a long time. Â Again, could be excusable if it were a busy night or whatever, but there were hardly any people in the bar.
Not a bad place! Â But don't expect great service.
we used to go to Goonies every friday night for hotwings and beer, it was ok, there were the usuals there at the first table on the right, we usually sat at the other side of the bar at a table and had 3 orders of hotwings extra crispy and a salad and a pitcher of MGD, it was a nice place to have dinner! We smoke so it was good for us!
Review Source:Goonies is grim and grizzly and smoky. Â Unfortunately it's the place I invariably seem to end up when I'm home visiting for the holidays because it's where I know I'll find the other people who are home visiting for the holidays. Â I'd like to give it two stars, but the bartenders do a pretty reasonable job and the shuffleboard tables in the back are kinda nifty. Â I just can't seem to like this place much. Â To Goonies's credit, nobody has tried to pick a fight with me there yet, something of a rarity for Coos Bay bars. Â That's about the nicest thing I can say about the place.
Review Source:As those who hail from Oregon's own "Bay Area" (aka North Bend/Coos Bay), there is a dearth of good bars. Well, really, there is a dearth of anything entertaining for young people. I mean, you go through high school camping or having bonfires at the beach with lots of beer and other booze, but once you're old enough to publicly drink, you don't have many options. But, the towns are a great place to visit if you like your bars seedy.
Goonies is a smoke-filled sports bar that is packed during holidays when all the college kids and graduates return home to visit the family. And, of course, holiday stress drives everyone to a bar, and Goonies is really the perfect place to meet up with acquaintances and friends from high school - see who got knocked up, who's married, who got a boob job, who got hot...Drinks are fine, nothing spectacular, but it's the atmosphere that makes this place worth a visit. Don't wear anything you have to dry clean because you'll reek like an ashtray by the end of the night! Play pool or air hockey in between gossiping with friends; even if you're not from the area, it's a generally young crowd. Of course, I can't speak for non-holiday times of the year - I did go one evening on a random visit home and walked into the middle of a shuffle board tournament where the clientele was upwards of 50...
