I'd driven by Granskofski's old diner-like location in Ontario on Lakeside Road for years, and now they've moved into a larger, newer structure a bit closer to Webster. It's almost unnoticeable, nested between small motels and used car dealers on Route 104.
Visited on a subdued Sunday night to find a strong 1950s-60s nostalgia motif. Now we know where all the fixtures and memorabilia from the closed Tom Wahl's in Webster went. The place is clean, recently painted, but the fluorescent lighting is a bit harsh.
The food is fine, with a menu that goes well beyond 'malt shop' burgers and fries. Prime rib was okay, not overly fatty. Bourbon pork was good, too. Salad bar was okay, but didn't really have a large variety (and in a poorly lit corner of the dining area). Waitress had some challenges regarding flatware, but was otherwise friendly and attentive.Prices were as expected; a little high for a queen-cut prime rib, but then the quality of the cut was above expectations, too.
One nit: the place was chilly. Not sure they've got the HVAC figured out; a couple of heat units are oddly mounted above windows, as though they got them out of the motel rooms next door and had to find a place for them.
