After reading all these great reviews on here we picked here to eat dinner our first night in town.
You sit down whenever a table opens up. Â They took over a hour to get out an appitizer, and then it was some of the worst food I've ever ate. Â The oil they used had to have been over a month old and it was burnt on top of it.
The fish was just nasty! Â For places that are right there on a beautiful lake, we should be eatting fresh fish caught that day.
Save your money and your tummy and find another place to eat that cares about what they are serving out!
Every time I go to Sugeon Bay I make it a point to stop in at the Greystone. Â The Greystone special is the most delicious burger I have ever ate. Â If you are man enugh (or woman enough) ask them for a double g stone special. Â The Ebel family and all the others there are very nice. Â It has a very Door County feel with all the fish and animals on the wall. Â It really lets you know who the people are that live in the town. Â I will continue to go back every time I am in Sturgeon Bay.
Review Source:Everything for the Friday night fish fry was awesome!! Â The ONLY thing that was NOT was the deep fried cod plate. Â The fish was the POOREST excuse for fish. Â It was frozen chunks of fish with way too much batter!! Â So disappointing, because all the other fish was awesome!! Â Had the pan-fried blue gill and pan-fried perch, and it was awesome!! Â Everything from the service, to the potatoes, coleslaw, cucumber salad, and drinks was excellent. Â As constructive criticism, just replace the frozen cod with baked or pan fried, and your Friday fish fry will be the best in Door County!
Review Source:Best food in Door County. We ate here on our first day and spent the rest of the week trying to find something else we liked better. We failed in our search. I ate the prime rib sandwich with cheese curds. Awesome does not come close to describing it. Cheap, great food and great service!!
Review Source:I've gone there again when I was in town. Â Indeed, Â the majesty of the prime rib is certain. Â We feasted well and as per our previous visits, the cheese curds were very addictive.
Beer is quite affordable. Â Food is affordable. Â Food is epic. Â Beer list is meh, Â but at least they carry spotted cow.
This was a fantastic little find during a Door County weekend. We dallied getting ready for dinner and found ourselves facing a bunch of closed kitchens one Saturday evening. We were told they serve til 10 at the Greystone, so we went to check it out. It looks pretty dive-y from the outside, but it was warm and welcoming inside - as long as you can appreciate the fine art of taxidermy.
Anyway, I had the prime rib sandwich and it was superb. A huge slab of meat on buttery Texas toast and an amazing au jus - simple, strong flavors. The rest of Door County was going to have a lot to live up to after this meal. We saw another patron sipping a margarita, so we asked the waiter if they were special for Cinco de Mayo (it was 5/5) and the waiter said, "No. Sometimes people just like to order them." Well, we ordered about six of them and they were delicious.
Wonderful service, nice folks, great atmosphere, amazing food, totally affordable. And they definitely served a full menu well past 10pm. I'm already regretting we didn't go back for a Round 2 before our trip was over.
The Greystone is a place where the locals eat for great food, and is uniquely decorated with mounts of different animals. There is even a deer rump mounted on the wall, which reminds me of a Far Side comic!
The burgers are juicy and great tasting, and pretty much everything on the menu is priced between $3.00 to $5.00, apart from the huge prime rib sandwich that costs $10.00.
You can sit at the bar and hear the locals tell their fishing, hunting, or war stories. But there's also a section in back to eat at a booth or tables, so it's good for families with children. Our group of 5 adults were stuffed after eating burgers, appetizers, and having drinks, and the total came to only $38.00.
Exactly what I thought it would be. Corner bar vibe with a large dining room, decorated with mounted heads of various types. I ordered and enjoyed the prime rib sandwich, which looked imposing yet sliced like butter. Wifey had a burger, which tasted so fresh it gave images of a backyard BBQ. Great wings and curds. The only thing that bugged me was, after ordering two beers on tap, I saw bigass mugs were available. Server should have offered them up in my opinion. Reasonable prices, in the heart of everything.
