Our server was nice and attentive. We were seated right away. Â I had a pretty good meal (the chili) but my salad, well, when is Southern Minnesota going to discover that there are other lettuces besides iceberg? It was an anemic salad with one little tomato and two tiny slices of cucumber, and plenty of tasteless iceberg lettuce.
Shame on me for getting a salad at a wood-fired burger and chicken joint.
I stopped in here for a beer and burger. Very good burgers. Â I think the patties might be half pounders. Â For those of you that tend to go for the two patty burgers, I would advise against it. Â My buddy got the kodiak burger (2 patties), and it looked like a dangerous amount of burger (in a good way i guess?). Â I had a bleu cheese bacon burger that was really good. Â For you connoisseurs of bleu cheese burgers, yes, it was bleu cheese crumbles and not dressing. Â Also had an order of cheese curds that were of the carnival variety without beeing obnoxiously over sized. Â Overall everything was tasty and well seasoned. Â
Not sure what happened with Kathleen's experience that caused her 1 star review back on 2/9/2013, but I would actually argue the opposite on every claim that she made.
Delicious food! Â My husband and I go out often for meals and we just happened to stop by Grizzly's in Mankato. Â We both had the Blackened Rib-Eye and it was delicious. Â Tender, seasoned perfectly and a nice sized portion. Â The staff was very attentive and friendly and I can see why this is one of the busiest restaurants in this town. Â Will definitely return again!
Review Source:Easter morning found my wife, brother-in-law, and myself driving to [halfway point] Mankato to meet her family for Easter lunch. We pulled up to Grizzly's and immediately I was thinking Shenaniganz from the movie "Waiting" (Applebee's / Chili's for those who haven't seen the flick). Mediocre food coupled with a gimmicky theme.
Grizzly's does have the gimmicky theme... there are dead animals everywhere, along with beer signs, historical pictures, and nature murals. I don't mind a "northwoods" atmosphere, thus it was fine in my book. The food, however, was better than expected. After perusing and getting frustrated with the complicated menu I just ordered the walleye entree, the safe choice. Luckily it was good, and the accompanying soup and vegetables were also tasty. Of course it wasn't amazing, but it far surpassed my expectations. Also, the varied selection of tap beers was a pleasant surprise.
Stopped by for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the overall outcome.
I was greeted once I got through the front door. I sat at the bar and ordered my lunch from a friendly bartender. The lunch special I had was good tasting and just the right portion for lunch. And the price was very fair at $7.99.
The restrooms were clean. The service was good. Parking was plentiful. The food was great. The menu had a lot of different choices.
I would go back and will next time I am in town. Check them out.
