I was standing in the shopping mall, wondering where the luscious smoky aroma was coming from.  I discovered Grizzly's just around the corner near the mall entrance and the rolling chickens on the spit had me hooked.

Based on another review, I tried the Blue Cheese topped Sirloin. It was my aerobic workout for the jaws, even though it was cooked properly.  The blue cheese topping could have used a few seconds under the salamander grill to crust it up.

The sides I ordered included Cheesy Hash Browns, which were quite good, but the late to arrive cup of Chili was all heat and no flavour.

Overall, the food is hit or miss, if you are a regular in the area, find your winners and stick with them.  If you are travelling through, there is an Olive Garden at the other end of the mall.

My husband and I are new to Minot, so we gave Grizzly's a try. Don't waste your time or money eating here. You're better off getting a hungry man dinner at the grocery store, which is actually what I'm pretty sure Grizzly's does and then serves it for quadruple the price. The only reason we gave them two stars is because the Texas eggrolls had the potential to be very good, that is, if they hadn't been burnt to a crisp. We waited at least 10 minutes before my husband let the hostess know that we hadn't been offered drinks, and she took our drink and app orders. Steaks were brought out on the wrong plates and were very chewy and flavorless. Steamed veggies and sweet potatoes tasted microwaved. Bread was good, so go for the bread, and then leave ASAP.

It's hard to believe this place is a chain (albeit a small one with only a few locations). I've come to expect only average food from chain styles like this (applebees or tgi fridays come to mind)

But unlike other places like applebees all the food at Grizzly's seems to be fresh and not frozen. You can watch the chickens roasting in the open pit fire at the front door.

If you try nothing else, try the steaks. But personally I've eaten my way through the entire menu and been satisfied with everything on it.

My girlfriend cant get enough of the bear creek pasta and the diablo trio pasta dishes. My personal favorites (aside from the steaks) are the wings and the roasted chicken (these are great to take home). Even the signature salads are good (cant eat steak every day...)

There's also different early bird specials and a cheaper lunch menu.

Oh and they have some of the best cheesecake I've ever tried, and I don't say that lightly,  I've had it all over the country and most of it tastes like paste to me. Skip the toppings (they use store bought syrups) and just order it plain (they make the cheesecake fresh on site). The only time I didnt like it was when I tried it with the chocolate sauce (not sure who's idea it was to ruin an amazing cheesecake with a bad sauce; but the problem is solved by ordering it plain)

We've made this a regular stop several times a month now since moving to Minot.

Went for lunch.  Service was slow had to ask to have my drink refilled, twice.   Staff just seemed to stand around.

    Really weird music selection.

Great atmosphere old woods cabin style, which is kind of cool

From the prices it's seems like an upscale restaurant but it didn't live up to it..  Sorry can't recommend

It took awhile to get seated (was told 30 minutes to be seated and took over an hour) but there is a good reason for it.

The entire menu looked great, and I settled on the Bear Pasta.  It was angel hair and chunks of moist rotisserie chicken swirled in alfredo sauce and baked with a layer of mozzarella cheese on top.

The pasta, with a tall cold beer, were the best things a gal could hope for after a 12-hour road trip from MN.

Get there early, especially if you hope to seat a large group of people! All I can say is that it is worth the wait!

Overpriced for a restaurant in a mall, actually in general.  Server wasn't bad just swamped.  Manager was awful, she spent more time on the patio talking to a guy than trying to get the building caught up after she cut all the staff.  We waited an hour for food and she never once stopped by the table to see if we needed anything.  Not going back it was not good enough and priced too high considering the disaster we walked into.  I'd have a little more pity but it was 6pm.

My family has eaten here several times. We always enjoy our food and the atmosphere. Food does take a little while for it to get to us but other than that no complaints. The Cheese curds never seem to fail us. Mmmmm!!!

Well...the first time we went everything was SO good.  Since then it's been one awful plate after the next.  What a shame!  Old and brown lettuce in the salads, only getting 5 cheese curds in an order instead of the usual 10, smaller steaks, under cooked baked potatoes and super dry brisket.  What a shame!!  After 4 or 5 consistently bad meals for $60-70 dollars, we won't be back.

I posted some pics of the dry brisket and small, really bad prime rib.  Check them out.

Descent food.  Good atmosphere.  You got to love the giant rotisserie with the huge fire cooking the meat when you walk in the door.   However, they could make the door wider and get rid of the weird traffic jam at the entrance.  Finally, for god sakes don't serve grilled cheese sandwiches for kids with American cheese.  American cheese is an abomination to all thing that are made with cheese.

Could use better service, but the food is generally to die for. The pulled pork sandwich is fabulous and my face, the bleu cheese encrusted sirloin along with the cheesy potato casserole is wonderful. Happy environment and great for date night. ;)

I had an early Dinner at Grizzly's after a coworker and I had some time to kill while working near Minot. We spent the day at the Dakota Square Mall and decided that Grizzly's looked like the best option since we weren't in the mood for the normal mall food court fare.

Upon entering we were promptly seated. All the staff we encountered, including our waiter, were friendly and attentive. I ordered the Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich with sweet potato fries and a salad. The salad was nothing special but the sandwich was delicious and the fries were perfectly cooked. Grizzly's gave me about the closest thing to good southern BBQ I've been able to find up here. The pulled pork was moist with a good smoke flavor and the sauce had a good balance of sweet and tangy.  Grizzly's tops off the pulled pork with coleslaw, a welcome addition to my BBQ sandwich and something I've rarely found anywhere other than BBQ joints down south.

My coworker had the Bear Creek Pasta which looked very good. This was by no means a light pasta dish though, so if thats what you're looking for- steer clear of this. The angel hair pasta was mixed with bacon, roasted chicken, sautéed mushrooms, and topped with cheese, all in an Alfredo sauce. Certainly a tasty combination but very heavy!

We also shared and order of the Texas Egg Rolls which again were nothing special but tasty enough. The sauce was probably our favorite part.

If I'm ever in the area again, I'd certainly make a stop at Grizzly's if I needed a good meal.

    February 20, 2012 Monday - lunch 12:15 PM
    4 adults

    Atmosphere - 4 stars
    Food - 3 stars
    Service - 3 stars

Background - Been here once before about a year and half ago.

Atmosphere - The expanded and opened up the place and lost some if its charm.

    Food
     Appetizer - None.

Main Course - I had and item off the lunch menu which states things grouped; soup & salad, sandwich & soup, and sandwich & salad.  I order the pulled pork sandwich and said I did not want the soup or salad.  But then see asked what I wanted with it.  I looked at like what are you talking about.  Then my fiancé had to step in explain things like French fries and etc.  The food finally came and the fries were luke warm at best and my pickle spear was tiny and curled like the frown that was put on my face from looking at it.  The best part was that there was three slices of deep fried pickles on the sandwich. I only wish there was more.  The sandwich itself was pretty good.

     Dessert - None.

Service - Slow service and lucky to keep the waitress attention on us.  Clearly she did no want to be here.  Not a smile.  Eeyore would have had a better attitude.

Future - Maybe for drinks but there are better selections in town for food.

I travel a lot for work and my latest stop over was in Minot. I was here for 16 days and out of that 16 days half were spent dining at Grizzly's.

The food is excellent! I tried a bit of everything and I have to say by far my favorite was the cheesy hash browns! Yummy!!!

Salads are great, the chicken is slow-roasted and very tender. The only thing that was a bit of a downer for me was the service.  Soooo slow! So if you are in a hurry then skip this place!  Other then that.... great food at Grizzly's!

The potato skins with a tall Killians beer are the perfect Saturday afternoon shopping snack. Service is a bit shoddy, but good food and cold beer.
