Yes this place is a dive bar. Bigots and racist, an insecure night manager and doorman(little guy with a big complex), lousy bartenders at night made my stay during a weekend ten dollar cover charge worthless. Seriously, anyone who runs a biz like this needs to wake up! During the day Dave the bartender is awesome and the following is great! Talkative, friendly and gracious patrons make the place enjoyable. Night time comes and rats, lowlifers, and inexperience service workers appear to come aboard. Manager has no class, zero personality, could care less about anyone unless it is a woman. I could tell the short stature of the men on the Cape where intimidated by my height in this place as the bartenders, manager, and doorman tried there best to make me leave by being rude and classless.
Clue #1    Try and smile when a paying person enters the door.
Clue #2    As long as someone is polite and paying good money respect the guy.
Clue #3    I pay your wages when I come to drink, ya think you're my boss?
I came into the place expecting Grumpys at night to be as friendly as the day crew and patrons.
DO NOT go to Grumpys at night. The place is run by lowlifers and mismanaged.
Day time the place is mellow, locals will buy you a drink, bartender Dave is awesome!

This place has a lot going for it. Good jukebox, pool tables, darts, funky patio area where you can light up a smoke with your beer if you want. I went there on a saturday night and it was fairly busy. Yelp says this is a "dive bar" but it didnt seem that divey to me. The only drawback was the rude bartender who looked like he hated his job but then again the place is called Grumpy's. Three stars sounds about right.

Best bar in Falmouth.  Good selection of beer and cheap.  Absolutely a local dive bar, and exactly what you want if you're looking for a dive bar.  They sometimes have bands on stage and live music.

GREAT local place that is definitely a dive bar with character.
Was here for the weekend and we had a blast. Met a couple locals who kept us entertained the whole night. Dave the bartender is great!!!
Early on sunday night there was a bluesy-funky bank playing. Some of the best homegrown music I have heard in a while!  Dont be intimidated by the dirt parking lot and lack of windows in this place.. Its a blast and a welcome change  from the typical stuffy overpriced bars you find in tourist towns!!!

Definitely a place to mingle with the locals. Recently they have done some improvements on the bar itself. There is now an air hockey table along with the two pool tables and dart boards. A new Juke Box as well, though it will blind you if you look at it in the dark. Very flashy. Some new bars and bar stools have popped out throughout the bar. Last I was there they had tape up and I heard rumor of some nice booths moving in...

Unfortunately the burrito bus is no more, so no food here unless you bring it yourself. Sunday afternoons there is a jam session and people occasionally bring their dogs, at least in the summer. Sometimes during the week they pull down the projector screen and play movies or wii.

This place is a fun and fantastic way to drink too much without thinking you have to change your sweatpants.

I love the fact that Grumpy's is in the "Dive Bar" category.  I would say it has character.  The place is an institution.  The landscape for bars and restaurants on the Cape can change pretty quickly but Grumpy's had endured ... i went to them back in 1993 for the first time and they are still here.  It is a small place but dont let it fool you - they carry good beers.

This place is not a tourist trap by any means but a low key local pub.  Come for a refreshing beer when you are in the area!

Don't mind the massively pitted parking lot.  How many bars are actually considered "dog friendly?" I think I saw a water dish by the back door. Good live music, patrons dedicated to raising money for local charities, 2 pool tables.  It's the pool tables that drew me in.  No food, so bring in your own, lots of food sharing goes on there.  Friendly local atmosphere with a one of a kind blues filled juke box.  I just go there during the day.  Say "Hi" to Henry when you get there, he's there every time I've ever showed up before 6 pm.  Relax, discuss, play, enjoy.

I'm going to pretty much agree with everything Julie.C wrote in her review below. Comared to the handful of tourist traps this place is a real treat of a drinking hole. I found it pretty hard to believe that there wasn't one decent pub on the main strip. Therefore, this is the place to head if you want to have a good pint, game of pool or two and chat with the locals. Turn left at the end of the gravel path on Locust Street and don't be put off that it's a little walk out of the way.

Want to hang out with locals?
    Check out Grumpy's Pub.
Don't let the gravel dirt road scare you, it adds to the ambience that is Grumpy's.

You won't find Bud on tap here, no, they carry Anchor Steam, Sam, Sam Summer, Magic Hat's Summer Wacko, and Guiness.
Pretty small place with 2 pool tables, some games ( BIG BUCK HUNTER Pro!!)
They have live music Thurs- Sun and I believe a Wii night on Tuesdays.

They do charge a $5 but its worth paying for cuz all proceeds to to the band that plays which are usually pretty good.

Pretty cool spot to kill a few hours.

    Two words:  Burrito. Bus.

Dive bar + delicious drunken burritos?  Yes.  Yes I will.

Sadly, since my last review in 2006, Willie passed away tragically.  He will be missed :(

I'm gonna go right ahead and give good ol Grumpy's the most MEH rating that I can on Yelp, the dreaded 3 stars. That's like saying that your establishment is neither forgettable or memorable in any particular way. I happened to go there and I can prove it because I stole something off a wall but I really don't care about it. In all fairness Grumpy's is probably the shittiest dive in Falmouth that made it into our stupid hotels little guide book. The place is surreal with groups of middle aged alcoholic tourists and creepy bachelorretes dancing to lousy bar music. The bathroom counters this with a vast collection of movie review magazines and comic books dated back as far as 2004. Shots come in little juice glasses that everybodys mom in the cupboards circa 1978 and yes the floor is well, not really there. My biggest complaint is that PBR bottles are $3.00 and that they have a shot called a 'happy.

You'd never know by driving by the rat-a-tat old sign and looking down the pocked, gravel drive that Grumpy's Pub is a diamond in the rough.

This is a bar for locals, for people trying to escape the touristy throngs hitting up the fancy Roo Bar and Firefly in Falmouth center. If you didn't know someone who vouched for it, you may not even want to venture in.

Well, here I am vouching for it.

On any given Friday or Saturday evening, you'll find a great undiscovered band playing with heart to a small, swaying crowd. The cover charge is rarely more than $5, and I've never seen a band that wasn't worth it. They play rock, blues, Zydeco and everything in between.

If you don't feel like watching the band, you can always play pool, darts, Big Buck Hunter, Megatouch, and other dive-barish games.

If I have one criticism, it is that when the late-night drunken munchies hit, there's no food in sight.  But no one minds if you bring your own.

The best part about hanging out at Grumpy's, though, is the crowd. There is always someone wanting to chat over a cigarette, strike up a conversation about their life in the coast guard, or teach you about their latest discovery at Wood's Hole.

Next time you're in Falmouth, be sure to stop in.
