This is a little hidden gem of a restaurant in Groveland, Fl. Excellent Food, Excellent Service, Down home feel where they treat you like family. Say hello to Pat!!

The food was ok....a little different. Ostrich, emu, etc. If you want this you can have it. We stopped in for dinner and they def. treat their regulars better than visitors. It is just blatantly obvious. My question is ...How do regulars become regulars? I can't say it is worth the drive out to the middle of no where. Not to be ignored.

Used Yelp to find something a bit different then the usual restaurants along US-27 in Leesburg, Clermont, The Villages, etc. and up popped an interesting place in Groveland, FL.

Took Mom and Dad along for a dinner on a Sunday evening and had a very enjoyable dinner.

Wide variety of items (even though its a relatively small menu) - Quail, pork chop, steaks, catfish, salmon, a few pasta dishes.

They were very, very busy but kept the refilling the drinks and other diners around us seemed to also be receiving good service.

Definitely give the restaurant a try - I think you'll enjoy it.

Overpriced. I mean just a garden salad was like $11. Steaks up to $32!!?? A little steep.

We went there for Sunday lunch and the food and service were great.  The ambiance is a little strange but the food makes up for it.  You feel like you are walking into a realatives house for dinner.  They explained the specials menu to us but we had heard they had the best burgers so we tried that.  I did the cowboy burger which had onion rings and barbeque sauce and it was awesome.  Tried it with the sweet potato fries and they were perfect.  My husband had a bacon cheeseburger with a cup of homade beef soup which had too much going on but it was ok.  My son had the chicken tenders which were pefect. All in all a great lunch.  The pot bellied pigs at the petting zoo had just had piglets and they are the cutest things I have evr seen they were the size of kittens!  Too darn cute!

"The RED WING RESTAURANT was built back in the 1940's by Charles McMillan. The Restaurant was built as a house where they lived. Opened February of 1948.The Wooden building faced in stone has been a popular gathering place for locals since 1948.

If the walls could talk they just might give you the history of Groveland. Upon entering there is a bar with paneled walls with stuffed birds and animals hanging on the walls. Off to the left is the "Pheasant Room" and to the right the "Boar Room". which makes it feel of an Old Hunting Lodge.

The Menu is unique to say the least. We offer a wide variety of Hand cut Steaks, Fresh Fish & Game Meat. Our customers tell us that we have the BEST Cobbler & Burgers in town."

The food at this restaurant is fabulous. It is not small but also not huge, the theme of this restaurant is not trying for anything modern so the older decorations and feel are what they wanted it to feel like. This is where you come to eat for some authentic down home cooking. I come here for the excellent food not for the scene.

I ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and they were done perfectly. I came on a Monday night for the all you can eat crab legs and they were also excellent. I had expected less but was pleasantly surprised at how well they were cooked ( so easy to get out of the shell) and how fresh they tasted. Truly one of the best down home cooking restaurant's around. I could eat every meal here due to the variety of the menu.

They offer all you can eat crab legs on Monday ..and Wed its all you can eat fried Quail.

    You have to try it!

Had Thanksgiving at the Redwing and it was great! Pat is always friendly and the food is excellent.  We all got the Thanksgiving special and it was a ton of delicious food for just $14.95 a person. We couldn't have been happier with our decision to turn the cooking over to Chris this year. Thanks guys!

After living nearby for many years, we finally tried Redwing. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was very cozy. It was nice having top-notch food without the stuffiness that often accompanies it. They have a great beer selection. I loved the well-cared for animals in the adjacent petting zoo that greet you when you pull up in the parking area.Any place that has donkeys to announce your arrival is ok with me!

Great little place to eat with style and a menu all its own.  A must to try if your in Clermont area.  They serve lunch and dinner everyday and breakfast only on the weekends.

Great spot that's a little out of the way for most of Orlando.

I've had the BLT with fried green tomatoes for lunch- its an awesome sandwich with nice, thick slices of bacon and the tangy-tart goodness of green tomatoes.

Where the Redwing really stands out is the quail.  One night a week is all you can eat fried quail.  A rare treat!  The regular menu also has quail (both fried and otherwise).

I've made the Redwing a regular stop on my weekend motorcycle rides.  If you're in the mood for a little drive, from downtown Orlando you can be here in less than 30 minutes.
