Come here strictly for the wings. I mean the best wings in the waldorf area HANDS DOWN!!! Just finished a platter of texas original, honey bbq, and old bay *still lickin fingers*. Pool area is decent  and good music at night.

I mean the beer special alone makes this place worth the stop!! If I were just looking for a place to go grab a beer, not a shadow of a doubt I would stop through. But I went for dinner as well....

Had the wings (they do all you can eat on Fri). The wings don't have much spice, but they do charcoal them sometimes, which added some good flavor. Wings were pretty crispy, service was ok, but they just made you wait out the wings, and only brought 6 at a time. Its all you can eat, so I guess there isn't much you can complain about right?

Again, beers and maybe watch a game....Yeah, I will be back! For dinner....Probably not.

    2.5 stars

I have been here several times, at different times of the day, to not only play pool but to eat as well.  I used to come more often, but now I rarely go (only when the husband has a hankering for chili burgers).  My last visit was on 10.30.12 @ 1:30 PM - place was relatively dead except for a few old dudes playing pool.  Since the spouse and I both had the day off because of the hurricane and we needed to kill some time before our movie, we went to Hard Times to get our eat on and to play pool.  The bartender/server was more concerned with his cell phone than taking care of us.  He then forgot to put in my food order (which he blamed on the kitchen) while my husband's food came out just fine.

    2 games of pool (per person) + 2 beers + 1 iced tea + 1 chili burger + 1 order of chicken tenders  = $40

Not worth it.  Although I will say, their chicken tenders are REALLY good.

It was okay. We found karaoke night, unfortunately. Normally, I'm all for karaoke, but I have to have a few drinks in me first, and that was part of the problem here.

It might have been that M, A, and I stopped here after a fantastic experience at Boston's, and so Hard Times lost in the match-up.

The service took forever, even sitting at the bar. $14/hr for a pool table, and we were told our waitress would be circling around to make sure we had what we need. Not so much; she was sitting at the entrance to the kitchen with her phone while we waited for two beers and a martini. The drinks showed up twenty minutes later, and sat there with the empty glasses while she left and never reappeared.

Focus of the bartenders seemed to be the regulars at the back of the bar and the bachelorette party that was shrieking about being "Soooooooo drunk, ohmigod, like really! Ohhh, try the 7-whatsit! 7-whatsit!!"

Good service. Good Chili (if you're not some uppity Chili snob). Oh and they have a pretty good selection on tap.

If you are from Cincinnati and are miss Skyline Chili then Hard Times is the place for you.  Since i have lived in the DMV Hard Times is the only place that serves "chili" close to Cincinnati style.  NOTE: 5 STARS ON THE CHILI
This location is good if you are going for the chili or some afternoon beers.  Drinks are overpriced and bar service is extremely slow (at night).  However, if you enjoy shooting pool with your friends this is the place to go for the area.  There are plenty of pool tables. Just be prepared to pay per person and per hour.

Weekly happy hour specials on food and drinks are the best in the area.
Staff can be great if you are respectful to them.

barstaff is mediocre; C. Prices are the same;C. Music is hit or miss; C. Same crowd, all the time, early-to-late 20's, no college-junior college. C+. Mostly t-shirts & ball caps. Polo's aren't common; Button-downs are like celebs.

If you're intent on staying in Waldorf for the night, there're better places; just not many.

Def not top 5... or ten.

I dont really mind a dive, but this place is a pit. The offered us a "top shelf drink special" to get us in the door, However when the bill came, we were told that the special was only a few types of top shelf liquor items.  If the drinks were actually on special this place might have been worth 2 stars.  very unclassy atmosphere for a chain.

I'd like to give this place all the stars being its one of, if not the only place to go and have a good drink in Waldorf.

    Suburgatory!

Anyhoo, this place is a win-win! If for their happy hour alone which runs from like 3-8pm and has half off of everything including top shelf (PATRONE) and most of their apps.

I have not played pool or went to watch a game, because I'm all about the cocktails. This place rocks especially if you are hitting hard times. They def make your dolla holla!

They have good food and some decent beer. I personally don't care for the TV's but as confirmed by other reviews the bar service is slow and expensive.

My real reason for downgrading to 3 stars is the DJ's they have are loud and out of place. Just let the place mingle and play music through the expensive sound system already in place. Large speakers on one side of the bar blasting at ear-raping volume just isn't cool.

Before I say anything, I have to make it clear I have never been here for lunch. That being said...

I have only been here at night when me and a few friends want to go out to a bar. The service has been consistently horrible. Even if they aren't busy they take forever. The drinks are also extremely overpriced. Unless you really like to play pool (they have a bunch of pool tables) stay clear!

My daughter and future son-in-law wanted to go somewhere and eat and have a little entertainment, since the bowling alley is always filled up with league's we went to H.T.C.  The food was great while we played billiards an the beer never stopped coming.  The server we had was fun and fast with our order.   It's a little loud, but it is a pool hall and sports bar, but it is different then your other places around Waldorf.  But don't let the fact that it's a pool hall/sports bar, it also has a side away from that area so if you just want to sit down and casually eat with the family, you can.

Stopped at Hard Times for lunch today because friends have raved about it. The thing that really caught my attention was they told me about the Cincinnati-style chili that Hard Times offers. Since I became very well acquainted with Skyline Chili while a student at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, I decided to give Hard Times a shot.

When I arrived, the place was nearly deserted but it was noon on a Sunday and people were still in church or recovering from the snowstorm yesterday. I was taken care of very quickly and when I indicated that I wanted chili, a small dish with samples of each of their fares was brought out. All were excellent for their own reasons, but I had my heart set on the Cincinnati-style.

I ordered 2-way (chili over spaghetti) with onions. I don't eat cheese, but that is also an available topping. I had my chili over spaghetti with onions delivered within 10 minutes. That must have included some warming time because there were so few others in the restaurant. Chili isn't something you prepare in under 10 minutes.

The chili had a very close resemblance to Cincinnati chili and was a delicious alternative. If I had to critique, I believe that there was too much cinnamon in the mix which deadened the flavor and I also suspect that the ground beef was browned before being cooked with the seasoning.

Cincinnati chili is prepared by mixing tomato paste with water and seasoning and then adding the uncooked ground beef and bringing the mixture to a boil and then simmering for 60-90 minutes. This gives the ground beef a very fine texture and tenderness that I felt was lacking at Hard Times.

I would give the chili 4 out of 5 stars, because they obviously took a great deal of effort to nearly match the recipe. For someone who has never been to Cincinnati or tasted Skyline Chili, this would really make them want to try because this is just not quite as good as the real thing.
