    Bar review only:

Stopped in on a Friday night. There was a fair crowd but plenty of open tables. A decent live band was playing; they covered lots of CCR and Skynyrd selections. This seemed to be the place to go if you are a mid 50's duck hunter or retired biker. Bring your camo jacket and Cabela's cap and you'll fit right in. Rarely do I enter a bar anymore and realize that I'm the youngest one there, but that's the crowd at Hardtails.  No biggie, I didn't mistakenly expect an Austin scene here in Georgetown. So we figured we'd have a couple of cocktails and enjoy ourselves.

The beer selection is pretty abysmal. You get your choice of cheap domestics or cheap domestics. Unfortunately my drink came back incorrect and then our waitress disappeared. Entirely. After trying to make eye contact for nearly 25 minutes, which she skillfully avoided, we got irritated enough to walk up to the bar to pay and left.

The ambiance isn't shabby. There's an outdoor patio area and a couple of pool tables.  I can see the allure if I was in the demographic that frequents Hard Tails and if I was jonesing for some Miller, but if you're under 45 and looking for a fun place to have a few, I'd suggest you keep heading south.

Great fun & value. Burgers are large & juicy. Big favor.  Early evening venue embraces an active senior crowd.   A good vale is a good value.  Overall proficient service & reasonable prices.  Night events draws a younger active good looking crowd.

The best burgers ever ! The Blue cheese Burger is definately the way to go.
friends have tried most dishes on the menu now, and all are good in their own way, it's personal taste.

The staff are friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is casual. No one looks out of place.

As its Georgetown, with Sun City and few bikers, there is a mix of customers, but that means anyone and everyone feels at home during the day. I hope they dont lose that aspect.

The evenings are still pretty mixed, but a younger to mid-age is more prevalent.

definately worth a visit, and a repeat or two :-)

I am so glad I have bikers in my life!  This was a nice biker bar.  Nice crowd.  Oh the staff was so great.  Well, at least our server was.  We never needed to say a word.  She kept checking on us.  This place is cool.  I just love the giant ceiling fan.  It made us laugh.  A huge place with plenty of seats.  They have a patio which was mainly for smokers, so you won't catch me out there.  But, I did check it out.  They have a few tvs and some pool tables.  Great specials.  The food smelled great. They have a nice stage area for live music and enough room for dancing.  I can't wait to go back.

Hardtails was great until they got new kitchen management.  We used to go in a couple times a week for burgers or wings and they just became inedible.  After giving them the benefit of the doubt a half-dozen times, we just quit going.  They just can't seem to get the food right anymore and the kitchen manager didn't or wouldn't take our complaints seriously.

This bar has to be the worse bar I have ever been to. The service is horrible, and this is coming from someone who usually has no complaints. As long as there is a good drink around, I'm fine. I walked in with a friend and went straight to the bar, thinking they were a little busy, but there were a few people behind the bar so the wait shouldn't be too long. A female bartender walked by us multiple times, then after 10 min comes by and says "What do you want?!!" My friend shows her, her ID and the bartender looks at it, and literally throws it back at my friend, the ID flew all the way off the bar top onto the floor. That is no way to treat a customer! My friend, unfortunately, left a tab open so we had to wait at the bar another 15 min to close it. This time the bartender passed us about 7 times, made eye contact, and really was not busy because she was chit chatting with one of the servers, RIGHT NEXT TO US. This is not the first time this has happened to me at this bar, unfortunately. This bar really is in a nice location, and has a nice layout, but the service blows. This will be the last time I go to this bar.

My family and I went to Hardtails on the 3rd for my sisters birthday lunch. We had a party of 8 and sat near the front door. The interior theme was a mix of Biker Bar and NASCAR chic. The food is a mixture of Burgers, Salads, and Sandwiches. Most of our lot had the Burgers which were rated from very good to excellent. Did I mention my family is a tough crowd too please. The homemade chips, fries, and onion rings were fresh and delish.  PROS: Juicy burgers and sides; cold beer and mixed drinks; reasonable prices
CONS: Parking was a bitch. I would rate this joint 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I wish I liked this place more.  Its a local place, and convenient, but I dislike so many things about it.  I hate to negatively review local places, but...

Parking is a nuisance, at best.  Not many paved spaces, and I always have to park in overflow, on dirt amongst the trees, the ground is not flat, and always seems wet/muddy.  So, that sets it off on a bad foot.

When there is live music, the place is an absolute travesty.  Its FAR too loud, and I absolutely hate yelling to be heard.  If you want to go and have your eardrums blown out, or not even have a chance to speak w/ anybody you've gone out with, then this is the place for you.  When there is no live music, its doable, but not really a place I'd choose.

The food is okay, and I've been told that I "have" to go there for a burger.  My wife and I have both had burgers there and I thought they were just okay.  Not bad, but if burgers are your claim to fame, I'd expect them to be better.  Admittedly, the wings (which I rarely eat) were pretty good sized and a pretty good buy.  They are named 'Big Ass Wings', which is a pretty fair assessment.

The place has zero ambiance.  Its a tiny bar in a huge empty-feeling room.  I feel like I'm drinking in an airplane hangar.  I rather prefer cozy bars where you feel comfortable having a conversation with other patrons at the bar.  This isn't one of those places at all.  Instead, I'm forced to talk to my wife the entire time, haha....   We've been there 4 times now, and I don't think we've shared a word with anybody else in the place, which is rare for us.  We may be the people you hate to sit next to at the bar, but we like to socialize.

TV's are far too small for the size of the place.  This isn't a place to watch sports.

The outside is nice, and a great idea.  We havent utilized it as much, so perhaps we can give that more of a shot.  But that doesn't make up for the inside.

They have pool tables, which helps a bit to make the place less boring.

Bartenders are not engaging, at all.  They're just there to serve, and their attitude suggests as much.

This is a transactional bar.  You go, you eat, you drink, you pay, and you leave.  There is no personality to the place, the staff, or the clientele, seemingly.

WIsh I could say better things.  It's reasonably priced, and if you just want to drop in for a bite and a beer and be out, then I guess its not a bad place, but its just disappointing overall.  Zero personality is the best way to put it.

Have stopped in several times since this place opened and always mixed. Busy evening bartenders tend to scoul and seemingly don't like customers so getting a drink can be an effort.
Stopped by with my daughter this past Sunday afternoon to watch the Celtics play Lakers on national tv. Not the best place in general for as they have huge blank walls with very small flat panels on them and one large flat panel hidden behind the bar that cannot be seen from most anyhwere aorund bar. But we were out for a drive and passing by.
As it was about 3pm not many patrons when we arrived and nobody watching TV in general so we asked if they could put the game on one of the TV's while we ordered some bar food and beers. The young lady behind bar accommodated us though apparently she was not allowed to do and a manager type had to. With 5 minutes remaining in game scored tied between Lakers and Celts and still very few patrons overall a new 5pm shift took over and someone decided that he wanted every one of the 12 TV's to show roundy round nascar and just like that without anyone whatsoever at the bar or tables being asked every tv was changed to nascar.

As our earlierr bartender was beginning to check out I flagged her down and said what was that all about. She said she did not know, apologized and said she would ask someone about. In the end she did not or was afraid to. I vocalized my question then louder to several other bartenders who were just hanging about the back corner of the bar and chatting with one another and nobody even had the courtesy to acknowledge my dismay. Understand every one of the 12 tvs was now turned to roundy round and they had 4-5 receivers controlling them. My daughter and I prompltly left and of course we missed the end of the game which came down in the end to the last shot or so we had to find out later and we were clealry watching one one and only one tv.

This place is run, managed and worked by adolescents with nobody held accountable for anything. This was as rude a behavior as any possible and says everything about the ownership and where this place is ultimately going.

My wife and I love hardtails bar and grill in Georgetown, TX.  We go there at least 3 times per month to listen to fantastic live music with no cover charge.  They have great cold beer, great burgers, and a safe friendly atmosphere.  There are people of all ages there enjoying the music and socializing.  They offer a variety of music.  Definitely worth checking out you guys.

Hardtails just isn't the place for me. It was great that Hardtails opened and it allowed a place for Georgetown residents to drink other than your franchise Chili's and Applebee's. I use to enjoy going to this bar. It offered great service, decent music, and a great drink selection. I returned a few times and I'd like to point out some flaws.

It's typical bar food, there isn't anything short of that. If you're looking for amazing food, wait until you leave. Music selection is pretty selected towards either Rock or Country -- you can't argue that since it is a biker bar. The volume however is just simply too much. When you are sitting with a group of people and you literally have to yell -- how is that even comfortable for your customers?

I don't mind that they have bands come up and play whether it is indoors or outdoors, but the cover price to get is sometimes outrageous. If it's someone that I have heard of or anything, I simply understand but don't charge us for a Joe Shmo nobody.

Also, cover prices on UFC fights? C'mon, I'd rather drive down the road to the new bar downtown Georgetown or even to Round Rock for no cover.

    Mediocre at best.

My wife and I rode from Killeen area to check it out,I have to say we had the same experince as most, THE SERVICE SUCKS! We were treated like we were invisible, several servers walked past and apparently dont need my cash, but they did help others(regulars)on both sides of us.I took it upon my self to go to the bar for my own drink, and was still treated like i didnt belong there. This place is a waste of time.

We've eaten here a few times.  Enjoyed our first couple of visits, but the next ones were not so good.  Our most recent weekend visit was very disappointing.  To start with, our table appeared to have been wiped off with a greasy rag, leaving a greasy film.  We ordered chicken fried steaks, one without gravy.  The chicken fried steaks come with a side salad, but the salads delivered were tiny, with just a few pieces of lettuce, some grated carrot and a thin slice of tomato.  All of the chicken fried steaks were delivered with gravy.  The waitress quickly took the one with gravy back and the kitchen prepared another.  The others had been fried too long. were dark and dry, and the batter fell off while cutting.  The one that was redone had not been fried long enough, leaving the batter soft and greasy.  On a positive note, the meat was of good quality and the french fries and fried okra were good.

The other issue was the flies.  Flies constantly buzzed around our table the whole meal.  Trying to keep them off the food and drinks was a nonstop effort.

Service was friendly, courteous and attentive, but when the fly issue was mentioned, we were told that the flies were bad at the tables around the outside wall and near the windows.  Drinks were refilled regularly.

Overall, this place appears to be a better bar than restaurant.  It will be awhile before we try it again.

For Georgetown....for Georgetown this place is awesome.....I had a desire to watch the Ag game today and needed a sportybarish place to go. This was the de facto place to go.

Let me say, tons of tv's.......it is freezing in here. didn't have food...but the beer was limited in the selection but I had 1 big ass beer of Zbock for $4...then a pint for $2.50.

I challenge you to find a place closer, and cheaper. BOOYA

Uh. it's okay.  Burgers seemed good. The Bad Word Dip was a otay. The onion rings were Grandma Sysco. Great Ambience. Prices were decent. Service was good! Caesar Salad, uh, not so hot! Servers, friendly, typical bikerish like, fun for sure. We were there for lunch. You probably need to be there on a Friday night to get the real ambience, if you can handle that! Great Sysco Jalapeno and Sourdough Buns for the burgers! So, all in all, go!

I had huge issues with this place. The ambiance was good, but I thought it was going to be more of a biker bar and it turned out that it was more of a Sun City hang out for older folks, although I do not think that this was what it was originally intended for. The much bigger issue is the service and some of the prices.  The food and drinks would be much better if you could get decent service and not wait around half an hour for every round of drinks or 45 minutes to an hour for food. No one who works there seems to care about taking care of the customers and on the night that I was there I saw a woman yelling at one of the employees in front of everyone at the bar, I can only assume that this woman was either the manager or the owner as she was behind the bar and the employee was not saying a word in her own defense. Also there is absolutely no good happy hour at this place. So the bottom line is between the service, no happy hour and the general demeaner of management I would seriously consider passing this place up, I know I will not be going there again!!!

One of my best friends from South Austin was in Georgetown, and wanted to meet me there, so with a pledge to keep my temper and grin and bear whatever bad service I had coming, I left the house. When arriving, I did get waited on, then we moved to a table outside to eat and had a great waitress outside. The food was great. I'm still cautious, but will go back again to make sure the good service wasn't a fluke. Hopefully they have made some changes.

Burger joint, but don't let that discourage you. It has roadhouse atmosphere and the locals tell me it gets packed after dark. I dropped by for lunch, had the "Slammer" (burger with green chilies) , "Sitting Pretty" (on a damn good jalapeno bun). Served with chips, but these are homemade with love.
Everyone with me loved there chow as well. Service was good, prices were completely in line with the chow.

If you are passing north/south on the I35, plan a rest stop here. It's worth it.

Just moved to Georgetown but had stopped at Hardtails a couple of time already and noted the service was a little slow.  This last time, and I do mean The last time, walked in and sat down at the horseshoe shaped bar.  No waitress seen other than across the room.  The manager was visiting with a customer about ten feet away and did notice me but did not even acknowledge me even with a nod.  I sat there for five minutes, no waitress ever showed and the manager continued to ignore me.  Left and won't be going back.

I tend to search out places where the atmosphere compliments the food. I was told about this wonderful gem at the local Harley dealer.  I was there for the OUvsUT game and had the Ruben with seasoned fries. As an Irishman i'm pretty particular about these and was pleasantly surprised with the size and quality of the sandwich and the fries are amazing. I can't wait to go back and try something else and next time it's onion rings.

I happen to see their ad in INSIGHT magazine so my wife Sheryl and my dog, Chewy decided to check the place out. . Being a "part time, weekend, not too hot outside biker, this place intrigued me. Their whole theme revolves around , you guessed it, motorcycles. I expected a run- down biker diner but this place was pretty upscale. Yeah, there was some bikers in there but they looked more like accountants wearing clean denim vests. Noticed that there was a good representation of families. They did have a sign saying that after 4pm you had to be 21. Apparently things get rockin and rollin after that, They have a good variety of food on their menu. Since they served breakfast all day, I had a plate of megas. The waitress forgot my home fries and apologized. Since we had our dog, we sat outside in the patio. The patio and picnic area was rather spacious. The had a large stage built toward the back of the area. Joe "King" Carrasco was scheduled to play that weekend. We (dog included) felt relaxed there. Since our dog is a "service" dog we were allowed to bring him in, although I did see a sign "No Dogs Allowed" We plan to visit again, especially to hear some music.

GREAT PLACE!  Went on a Sunday afternoon in June.  Huge back yard area for live music, great patio.  I had the Bean Burger, refried beans, corn chips, cheese, and salsa on a hamburger w/whole wheat bun.  One of the best burgers I have ever had.  I tried the local chardonnay from Georgetown Winery, pretty impressive.   The Big Ass Fan is cool.  Very friendly staff.  The owners daughter came over to talk to us and tell us about upcoming events.  Interesting customer blend.  From the Sun City folks to the biker crew.  The owners own the bike shop next door.  We are looking forward to returning and seeing some live music.  No kids under 18 after 4:00 PM.

definitely a cool biker bar, no doubt.

my first experience there just to drink was great!  the bartenderess was quite the conversationalist and served up some good drinks.

my second experience was not quite the same.  early evening, during the week.  the waitress took forever to just greet us, and even then she acted like she could care less.  she was less than knowledgeable about what they had to offer to eat.  the food was not great...at all.

if yer way north and you want a cool place to have some drinks and surround yourself in hyper alpha types in leather, this quite easily could be the place, just eat somewhere else.

I've been here twice, once for lunch and once for happy hour, and it's definitely a one-of-a-kind Georgetown place - the city doesn't really have anything else like it.

The food at lunch was good, with a solid selection of typical american food menu items. A coworker shared with me her love of their homemade chips, and I definitely enjoyed them as well. Happy hour specials are also pretty reasonable, so  come in before 7pm and enjoy the deals.

As you get into the evening hours, this place starts hopping. If you want a good seat (and a good parking space), get there before 6pm (probably earlier on weekends). When the weather is nice, the porch and back yard area of this place are very enjoyable - I love how they left the oak trees in back. I'm also looking forward to the soon-to-be-finished stage and hoping to hear some live music in the future.

Just as a heads up to those of you who may not have been here before: it IS a biker bar. The clientele is what you'd expect - loud and rowdy, but a lot of fun. Definitely a social crowd that comes looking for a good time. Also, there is a great area for pool and darts, so if you're a game-playing person this is a great option.

And on a random final note: Be sure to check out the awesome fan they have.

My first time to this local "dive" - Sunday early dinner.

    ** NEGATIVES **
    (1) Our waitress wasn't the most attentive - we had to ask the waiter who brought us the food for drink refills + condiments, and I think a manager came by after to pick up our plates.  Yes, it is a bar, but service standards like full drinks should be pretty basic everywhere.

    (2) Drinks
The cups they brought drinks in were child-sized.  You know those huge red plastic cups you can order tea or sodas in in most southern restaurants?  Not here.  Mini ones whose contents can be consumed in three our four good gulps are what we got.

    (3) Appetizer: Chips + Salsa
The chips are fresh-made, and very thick.  They were good, but too much for just salsa dipping.  They'd be better served as nachos to hold up under all the toppings!
The salsa was unimpressive.  It lacked any taste whatsoever (maybe a little lime-y, but other than that no resemblance to salsa other than its color + consistency).
Overall, not worth $4 and certainly not worth $2/refill.

    ** POSITIVES **
    (1) My sandwich -- and apparently the burgers, from comments from others at the table who ordered one -- was delicious.  The fresh-made sweet sourdough bun was grilled just right, the onions/tomatoes/lettuce were fresh, and the sauce was a different spin on tartar that was perfect for the sandwich.  I got a Plain Old -- Skinny Dipping - Clean -- In-the-Sticks.

CONFUSED? This leads me to the next positive point:

    (2) Fun lingo to use and learn.
Sure the waitstaff probably thinks its tacky, and the "actual" bikers who may use it in regular speech think you're a lame tourist, but it's fun regardless when a place has their own ordering terms to play around with.

Check out their menu below, scroll to the "burgers" section for an explanation of the sandwich I ordered above.
    <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fhardtailsbarandgrill.com%2Fhardtailsmenu.html&s=abbedbc2f54a5293689eb4239db0e70a644089a3216f77e585b2cf895ceeba82" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://hardtailsbarandgr…</a>

    (3) The short interactions with the staff were fun + pleasant.  They're definitely not there to entertain you, but they have personality and aren't afraid to show it.

    (4) I love motorcycles.  So the fact that it's a "biker bar" wasn't as exotic or interesting as some other visitors might find it.  Granted -- we went during the day, on a Sunday.  Everyone's pretty mellow then.  They have karaoke night + a full bar, so I'm sure things can get interesting after sundown!

Overall, a great place to have a delicious burger.  I will definitely go back to try more from their menu!

Ah...biker bars.  You gotta love 'em.

    Bikes...check.
    Beer...check.
    Best people watching EVER..........CHECK!

I made my first visit to Hardtails this past Thursday night - "Bike Night" is every Thursday, which begs the question, isn't every night bike night at a biker bar???  Does everyone arrive in cars when it's not Thursday?  Deep thoughts.  Regardless, this particular bike night resulted in some 50 bikes parked outside the place.  It was a feast for the eyes if you appreciate motorcycles.

The building is nice to look at as well.  It has a very rustic, very "roadhouse" feel to it.  I loved it.  Cast iron and stone accents, polished concrete floors with wood and metal finishes throughout, high ceilings, and of course, plenty of big-screen TV's.  I thought the whole place was really well done.  Don't forget to look up when you walk in - there is a HUGE ceiling fan in the form of an airplane propeller - very cool.  Nice covered patio, too.

Of course I didn't just go there for a beer.  I had to check out the burgers my friend had been telling me about.  I ordered the Bandera Burger:  bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion on a jalapeno cheese bun.  The bacon was thick and crisp - clearly fresh and cooked onsite - not that paper-thin precooked crap that I've complained about in other reviews.  As for the jalapeno cheese bun?  Awesome.  Overall the burger was pretty good, but a tiny bit overcooked and a bit salty for me.  I don't rank it among the best patties I've ever had, but combined with the fresh toppings and bun, I think it was a winner.  If the kitchen could ease up on the salt a bit, I think it would bring the burger closer to perfection.  Just my two cents.

Altogether I really enjoyed the place, the crowd, and the atmosphere.  The service was top notch and everyone was very friendly - that's one thing I've always appreciated about the biker crowd - these people are just out to have a good time, and if you show up on a bike, you might as well be a member of their own family.  I'll be back for sure.
