Good friendly service. Asked for recommendations and the waitress had good knowledge of the menu and gave me some good info. Â The inside is warm with thick wood frames which hold stone walls and a zinc framed ceiling. The character is definitely a big part of the great ambiance here. I liked the table overhang lamps which are made from Mason's milk or old oil bottles. Â I went with the Cod 'po boy with fries and...loved it. Give it a try.
Review Source:I came here for dinner and a few beers, and this place has some pretty good food!
The restaurant has an old barn atmosphere which is kind of interesting.
I had the reuben rolls for an appetizer. They were excellent! The ingredients of a reuben sandwich wrapped and fried in an egg roll wrapper with thousand island to dip in.
The bleu cheeseburger is one of the better ones I have had (It's about the only burger I get anywhere). Â
The beers arrive a little slow for my likings, but I guess I should have sat in the bar area if I wanted quicker beers.
Seems to be some of the better food in the area. I will definitely be back!
Hopefully this review will make changes.
Used to be awesome when Chef Dean was there, no I am not related or good friend. Bartender is always in someones business and that take presidence  over u getting served! Ordered to go and salad was good but the Mahi mahi was what I was waiting for was barely warm when I got home (mile down the same road) mashed potatoes were also chilled to where they were hard and not so much mashed but a clump. Mixed veggies were chilly but still real good. The snide look  I got when trying to get  check to go home and eat my food hot was unnecessary! Sorry I interupted 'tenders gossip pow wow. (blonde one)  i cant even imagine working there with me at her mercy for my customers drinks. I would not complain, but today was final straw for me. I had several complainable issues with her. I have been weening myself from Haydens and it just got easier. Obviously an owners relative or she would already be gone. I miss Dean, dont care for where he is, (menuwise)  but dang Haydens has sadly took a nosedive downhill. A wrap or a paninni from Chick a dees is better. That is a family style restaurant. Still good steaks but not as it once was. And service service service!!! Makes it or breaks it.  Sorry Mike!
Haydens is a great place to eat for any occasion. It's decorated like an old barn with rustic wood floors, but doesn't take the 'country' appeal overboard. It has 3 sections: a dining room, a bar area, and a small room for private parties.
- Dining: Food is awesome, they just expanded their menu with a lot more selections! So if you haven't been there in the past couple months go check it out again!! PUB STICKS --- AMAZING, love them! And now they have Reuben sticks, which is like a Reuben sandwich turned into an egg roll (my husbands family loves them!). I've tried a few things: Alfredo, tortellini, wraps, burgers... all are awesome! My husband has gotten the salmon & tilapia and both were great too! Haven't tried anything I didn't like from here! The prices have increased since the new menu, but still aren't bad.
- Bar area: bartenders are fast, atmosphere is laid back, you can sit at a table or dance on the floor - the jukebox has any sorta music you'd like.
- Private party room: I had my rehearsal dinner here actually- close and convenient. We had a little under 40 people, did a buffet style (which came with awesome food!!), they let us bring in desserts, decorated with cute lights and table coverings, quiet - couldn't hear the bar or dining area ppl, plenty of room for everyone.
Great place to eat in a small town!
I've been here three times...each time I've ordered a burger...something I normally wouldn't do...but theirs are soooo good. Â Most recently I had the black and blue...very good. Â Everything was perfect...the burger was juicy the toppings crisp...I didn't even put ketchup or anything else on the sandwich...that good! Â I can't wait for blueberry season...I'm going to take my friends there after we're done picking our blueberries...yeah!
Review Source:We were down in Wilmington today (grandma lives there) and got hungry. Â My mom suggested Hayden's Crossing. Â Wilmington isn't exactly known as a culinary destination, but Hayden's has started to change that. Â
It's decorated like an old barn, and is very rustic, but not the least bit "country or frilly". Â There is a wall running down the middle of the room, separating the bar from the restaurant area - something I wish more establishments would do. Â While we were in the restaurant area, I did peek into the bar area and it was really nice - flat screen tvs, nice atmosphere, and the entire place is completely spotless. Â I can't remember the last time I saw a resturant/bar so friggin clean! Â You'd think they just opened the doors for the first time this morning.
The service was amazing. Â A friendly young girl took our drink order less than 30 seconds after we sat down, and they were in hand not more than 30 seconds after that. Â The food was outstanding as well. Â We had the Pub Sticks for an appetizer. Â YUM!!! Â Think something like an egg roll stuffed with what we concluded was a mixture of spinach/artichoke dip and loads of mozzarella cheese, some garlic thrown in and served with grated parmesan on top. Â Hubby had the Black & Blue burger and he said it was awesome - ate every last bit of that 1/2 behemoth. I had the Pub Burger with White Cheddar which is just your standard burger with the usual toppings, but it was outstanding... juicy, cooked perfectly, and oh so yummy. Â My kid ordered a hot dog, and I believe it was served on garlic bread - or at least a french roll. Â Either way, he said it was great. Â The fries were awesome too. Â According to mom, their soups are also great, as are their salads - many of which we saw being served. Â On our way out we overheard another patron who was passing through town and stopped for a bit to eat, talking to the owner. Â The compliments on the food & service were nonstop, and I later agreed with him on everything he said. Â Too bad there isn't a place like this closer to Chicago!
Quick, friendly service and great food. Â We'll definitely be back!
Hayden's Crossing is definitely my favorite place to eat and hang out at in Wilmington. Â
Their food is great. Â So far I've had their "Black 'n' Blue Burger", buffalo shrimp, and the BLT wedge salad. Â All were absolutely awesome, especially the buffalo shrimp.
Not to be outdone by their food, they also have a fairly wide array of beers on tap or available in bottle form, including my two favs, Smithwick and Guinness.
Also, the place is beautiful inside. Â From its stone brick walls to the "loft" area with a recreated barn, it is really cool.
Everyone who works there is very friendly to boot.
