Not a bad place but slightly overpriced

The food isn't impressive and the waitress we just had was rude as hell. The drink refill policy is garbage as well. My friends only got an appetizer and were told that since they wouldn't be eating anymore that they would be charged a whole new drink order if they wanted a refill. With a name like Hellas, you would expect for there to be Greek food more than just the gyro (it was ordered by one of my friends--the meat looked old and dry--suffice to say, he thought it was terrible).  I definitely will not be coming back.

The building is amazing.  I had a preconceived idea as to what to expect on the inside.  It was nothing like I expected.  The outside looks like a fancy Greek or Mediterrean place.  The inside looked like a regular bar/restaurant.  NOTHING GREEK about this place.  They have everyday bar food and a mediocre menu at best.  I was hoping something authentic to the culture.  I was WAY OFF!  Looking at the menu there were only 2 things I quickly spotted, GYRO and GREEK SALAD.  That does not make you a Greek restaurant.  ZORBAS down the street serves better Gyros and they dont have a fancy building.

Why is this place called Hellas and why does it look it look Mediterrean when there is nothing Greek about the place?  The inside is a spartan sports bar...no atmosphere whatsoever.  The menu consists of the usual boring suspects of sports bar food with the one token exception of a Gyro.

Very misleading and I wont be back.

Not what we expected.  After months of awaiting Hellas's opening, we decided to try it out this weekend.  There wasn't anything authentic looking inside. No artwork, plants, Grecian music,  It was contemporary with dark stained chairs, plasma tvs, separated bar and dining area with outside dining with plasma tv.  Felt really masculine.  The upstairs dancefloor wasn't available for viewing (separate entrance).  I did however see the small stage for live bands.  I think this will be a cool hangout for singles and military men (watering hole).  From viewing the website back in July, it felt like it would had a Vegas feel for night and Upscale Casual Dining during the day,

My aunt ordered rack of ribs.  She was disappointed there was no substitute for fries at the time of 4pm.  A baked potato were considered dinner item.  Indeed her rib was an actual rib but like most, little meat.  My mom and I ordered gyros that didn't come with fries so we shared a plate of fries that only came in one size.  I would of tried the Athenian Chicken or Chicken Florentine for something different but decided if the gyro wasn't good then that set my opinion on the whole restaurant.  It's nice the host came around to see how everything was along with the waitress but the host came around too much to ask and then took up plates.  Our waitress was working really hard but for no reason because only 3 families were waiting to eat (she was flustered/hot).  The gyro came with everything but feta like most places it's separate.  There wasn't much Tzatziki sauce on my sandwich.  I like to dip my fries in it.  The fries were hot but greasy (crinkle not steak fries).

I asked about the desserts before our meals, and the waitress said they had cheesecake, lemon meringue , and chocolate meringue pudding .  The waitress admitted the desserts were store bought.  Who admits that?  So we already wasn't going to expect much.  My aunt finally decided to get a dessert since she really wanted something sweet. We tried the cheesecake which was pretty good but small.  I think it was $2.99 so not badly priced.

I may come back to try a dinner plate but I'm not expecting to be "revived" from this experience.  No comparison to Gyro City or Zorbas. Infact, I'm ready to try something beyond gyros now.  They have mastered them.  I'm wondering if Sammios is worth a try (same owner).  I think it's always good to try a place once or twice.
