Hogan's is a small casual diner-type place on 9W. I say 'diner-type' because it has a much more 'homey' feel to it. It's not as loud as most diners.

We were going to Stony Point park and wanted a breakfast place close by. We found it pretty easily and there is plenty of parking. The hostess was friendly and after a very short wait (under 5 minutes) we were seated at a table, and we did not wait long before a waiter appeared to take our drink orders. No coffee for us on this trip, however we did notice the servers walked around several times offering refills. A major plus in my book!

Our food arrived pretty fast considering how packed the place was- we might have waited about 10 minutes? Both plates were filled with piping hot breakfasts. My Hogan's omelette was good and served with a very generous portion of awesome fries. I love home fries- they are my favorite breakfast food- so I tend to judge breakfast based on the potatoes, LOL. My boyfriend judges by the pancakes, so he had the breakfast that includes pancakes, sausage, home fries and eggs (I can't remember what it was called). We sampled a good variety of their version of breakfast staples, and all were fantastic!

The prices were reasonable. The diner itself had a warm, cozy and familiar feel to it and was clean compared to other diners. The bathrooms were very clean- a rarity for some reason in breakfast joints (why?). Noise level was slightly quieter than a typical diner.

If you're in the Stony Point area, Hogan's is definitely worth a visit!

This is not your ordinary diner food, the place is more of a high quality restaurant but with the feel of a diner. I wouldn't dare to order dishes like chicken parm, penne vodka, chicken francise at a regular diner but at hogans you can order these dishes, you can order anything from breakfast, burgers to more of a higher quality dish. We love this place, everything is great. Danny the owner is always around and such a great person. I personally love to order the specials the food is amazing NOT REGULAR DINER FOOD. Portions and prices are a plus too, this place is always packed.

This is the best diner around. They have good quality sausages and bacon, which sadly many places in the area do not. My father likes having his coffee refilledmany times throughout breakfast because he drinks it fast. There is always someone going around asking if you want more coffee and this is a very important factor into a good diner. The coffee doesn't taste too bad either, but don't expect cafe quality.

The prices are pretty good too, especially since they have early bird specials on the weekend. You also get a lot of food. For someone like me it is way too much food for me to eat in one sitting, but it is worth the price. The staff are friendly as well, providing a welcoming atmosphere. When I go to visit my parents, I like to go to this diner the most.

FYI: I have never had dinner here, only breakfast food.

His name was Henry Champion. He wasn't the first champion. And god knows he wouldn't be the last. America, in her infancy, needed him that fateful day in 1779. But they didn't need just anyone. In this case, like so many, they needed a champion. A champion to rally the troops, a champion to lead the masses and a champion to overcome adversity. From the bluff at Stony Point that overlooks Haverstraw Bay, the fat mouth of the Hudson, Champion said "Take your best shot, British guys." And they did. Was it good enough? Maybe for them. But for a Champion like Hank, it proved to be too little. We won. He won. the Point was captured.

Boy oh boy did we win. The Lighthouse remains, built in 1826, nestled atop the hill, reminding us of maritime commerce. 1826 came a mere year after the fabled Erie Canal was finished. That lighthouse, oldest on the river, still stands recalling an age ruled by the venerable DeWitt Clinton. You ever see a bald eagle? Today, they still watch over the point, for all of us Americans. As we gaze on the bay and hold onto our freedoms, the bald eagle keeps a watchful eye. Winged shepherds of history.

At the Hogan's Family Diner, a stone's throw from the battlefield, all patrons are champions too. With every new champion, we must remember the first one. Henry.

This is a very excellent diner, as diners go.  It has the standard diner menu, fair prices, ample seating and parking, and fast service.  The location is perfect on a weekend motorcycle cruise along 9W.

My wife and I had passed Hogan's Diner in Stony Point several times when traveling in the area. Since the parking lot was always full, we assumed it must be popular, i.e., due to good food and service. We decided to stop in for dinner after hiking on Bear Mountain. We both ordered from the Sunday Dinner Special menu. I had the pork loin with apple stuffing, pan gravy, apple sauce, whipped sweet potatoes, and mixed vegetables. The special included salad and a drink. The salad was crisp and fresh. However, the pork loin was tough and overdone, and the mixed vegetables were overcooked. The whipped sweet potatoes were OK. My wife had the turkey (tasteless dry, and lukewarm) dinner with baked potato (OK) and the same overcooked mixed vegetables that I had. The service was mediocre, considering that the diner was not that busy. For instance, our server never came back to offer more coffee. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. It's the first time in quite a while that we've been unhappy with diner food. Usually, diners are a safe bet for quality food and good service. We won't be returning to Hogan's. The next time we're in the area we plan on trying the Mt. Ivy Diner. Let's see how that goes...

    Perfectly cooked skirt steak.

No, I am not referring to something out of a steakhouse or a churrascaria at $30-$60 per head. That was the surprise I received after ordering a medium-cooked Hogan's Roumanian skirt steak and shrimp scampi combination, priced at a very reasonable $15. My girlfriend and I have eaten at our share of diners, both being from New Jersey, and more often than not, meat properly cooked to order is something that is (pun not intended) quite rare at diners these days.

Just for that shocker, this restaurant deserves one star above the three-star baseline.

Other than that, here's a rundown of the memorable:

    - crisp, non-soggy onion rings

    - a shrimp scampi portion that, while drenched in butter, did arrive with quite a bit of fresh garlic as a saving grace

    - perfectly cooked charbroiled lamb chops

    - warm bread that didn't taste like it was purchased at a local supermarket

    - generous portions in general

    - excellent, free-to-take oatmeal cookies on the way out

    - the place was packed even after we left at 9pm or so

    And the forgettable:

    - sweet potato concoction that was way too sweet. We are talking possibly above  Paula Deen-level here.

    - mint jello accompanying the lamb. It did not seem like it went well with the dish, but the lamb chops were tasty even without any accompaniments.

Do give this place a try if you are hiking near Bear Mountain or doing some shopping around Palisades Mall. You will not be disappointed.

Stopped here for breakfast on a bike trip.  Recommended by a guy cutting grass.  Tons of food, solid American breakfast, which was exactly what we were looking for.  Nothing flashy, just a clean, friendly, efficient diner.

I've been a regular at Hogan's for years, my last visit was such a disappointment I doubt I'll ever go back. The waitress was ABRUPT, the buspersons slam the dirty dishes into bus pans so loudly it's jarring. And, unfortunately, the food has taken a nose dive. I usually love the Bistro Salad. The one I was served this weekend was a plate of Romaine lettuce with a little meat, probably half a mushroom and no cheese to speak of .... quite awful.

Authentic diner food in an authentic diner.  Locally owned and loved by the locals.  Food is consistently good and always served hot.  Often crowded at dinner time.

Love this place.  Just moved to Stony Point in spring, 2011.   We've been to Hogan's five times.  Each time better than the last.  The Philly Cheesesteak blew me away.  If you're lucky enough, you might make it in time to snag up the Yankee Pot Roast Special.   Certainly an upgrade from the average diner.  Friendly staff, outstanding food, never leave hungry.  Did I mention the free homemade cookies(wink-wink) on the way out?

Crowded because it's good and local.  Great specials and large portions. The Hogan name lives on.

This is the real deal. A real diner staffed by people who take pride in their work. If you remember the Hogan's diner on route 59 that closed to make room for the Palisades mall these are the same family running this place.

The breakfasts and burgers are top notch, the service is excellent and I have sent many people to Hogans and everyone likes it.
