They have changed things around and it shows.
When this place first opened 2 years ago it was a go to spot. You could hardly find a parking spot and it wasn't just a new restaurant buzz, the food was fantastic and sometimes the service was hit or miss. However people including myself have kept coming back, well for one reason or another within the last year the managed to get a new chef, and some new staff and these weren't exactly changes for the better.
While the serving size of the food is still on a pretty good portioning size, the quality of the food has gone down. There is an exception to this as the breakfast for the most part is still really good. The omelettes here are some of the best in the area, but I don't think that is enough to make me give it a high rating. The dinner food doesn't seem to satisfy. I had a new york wrap, and it was packed with meat, but had a bit too much coleslaw in it. Had to spoon some of that out. I'm used to a new york wrap being served warm so I was a bit disappointed when it was served cold here. However the fries seemed to save the meal for me. I don't know where they get their fries from but they are always amazing fries. Crispy and packed full of flavor, so I am glad they haven't opted for something cheaper in the fry department. As far as i know the cakes are still quite amazing.. Â The only other downfall and what is really preventing a 3 star review is the service.
Our waitress just seemed a bit uninterested in us. I think we caught her on the end of her shift and she was rushing everything and just in a hurry to get home. Can't say I blame her, but this wasn't the first time in recent trips that I got rather bad service.
Overall, it's still rather affordable, but isn't exactly going to be my first dining choice. It just has the benefit of being open later than most of the other restaurants in the area
The food seems to have gotten *slightly* better, but the service is just plain awful. Â You have to ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS ask for silverware. Â Usually more than once. Â Is that hard to automatically put it on the table when you seat your guests? Â Or better yet, have it set up to begin with. Â The food is OKAY but it's not a place I would recommend to anyone. Â Not at all.
Review Source:When this place first opened, the service was questionable (the first time we attempted to dine there, the then-manager blew off the fact that I could see a whole large section of tables with the lame excuse of "we're staging our kitchen" [whatever the fuck that meant] and wasn't seating most of the people who were wanting to give the place business) and the food was a few degrees below "meh".
Lately, though, they've had a change of chefs and with that, a considerable change in attitude and food quality. Nothing is exactly perfect (our waitress the last time we ate there forgot to bring silverware until we had to remind her a second time) but if they've improved that drastically, then future experiences here should be even better.
My partner and I came for brunch around 12:30 on a Saturday. Seating was immediate. Menu is great (extensive diner fare) and they have a nice bar (we had Victory Hop Devil on tap and each was less than $3... That's a great price for a very good craft beer). Food was very good and service was efficient, if a little surly (it is Hazleton, after all). We will definitely be back.
