Hong Kong Gardens Chinese Restaurant

Okay, for a long time I've been giving this place a moderate review. But after last night:

I ordered to go won ton soup, veg. low mein, and shrimp kung pow.

won ton soup: broth was bland, vegie's overcooked, it was so bad, I threw half of it away.

low mein: what I like about low mein is the fact that it's wok fried, but this one seemed like over-cooked spaghetti, with boiled vegis tossed in, and absolutely no spice or flavor.

The main thing is I spent almost 35 bucks on all this, and they put no time or care into the preparation. What a rip and waste of time.

As residents of South Whidbey for almost 20 years, we're glad Hong Kong Gardens is there, even if we're not overwhelmed by the cuisine. Serviceable, pretty generic Chinese food that fills the bill when nothing else will do.

Nice view, too bad the food couldn't live up to it.  Just bland tasting and you can tell the cooks don't really care what they are sending out.  I'm counting down the days until someone buys this place, and puts a proper restaurant in it's place to take advantage of the 4 star view.

The China Express at Safeway has high quality standards than this place and better food as well.  That's saying something coming from me.  Save your money, take the ferry across into Mukilteo, head 2 miles up the speedway and stop into Lotus for some really good Chinese.  That's my plan of attack anyway!
