Wine 101 - The Gathering Place

While this place is ok once in a while, here is my recent experience.  I might give it a 2.5 if that were allowed.

Owners are a little cool, especially the woman.

Friend and I EACH paid $11.99 for 3 "tastings" of a wine flight.  That is outrageous, really, when the "tastings" are probably 2 ounces - maybe - at best.  That is $4 per 2 ounces.  Most other places give you 5 tastings.  So - will never order that again.

I had spinach salad which came with chicken chunks.  OK, not great.  Missing the "cheese" that was supposed to come on it.  Friend had mozzarella and tomatoes which looked ok but for $9 or whatever it was, a little too pricey.

We both had the chicken (it was supposed to be) Rangoon.  Nice little wonton things but I don't think there was a drop of chicken in them - mainly all I tasted was cream cheese or something.  Dipping sauce was flaming hot and mostly made eating these things just uncomfortable.

EXTREMELY loud.  Hardly hear what the other person is saying and the tables?  Well, you will be sitting with your legs open like you are riding a horse.  So don't wear a dress if you're a woman.  Very unpleasant and, again, uncomfortable.

Will go here again?  Probably not.

Nice little place. My wife and I went in for valentines day. The service was good, the meat and cheese plate we ordered was very nice. Very good selection of wines. The entrees we ordered were ok, not too impressed with the meat pie nor the prosciutto and Roma pizza. The pizza should of had no sauce at all, with uncooked prosciutto and maybe use grape tomatoes and then throw some arugula just before serving. The puff pastry that came with the meat pie was not what I expected. I wasn't really sure what to do with it. Although the broth and meat were very good. And top top it off we had the tiramisu. It was amazing! Overall I will be coming back.

I am not a wine drinker but I loved this place.  I can't wait to go back soon.
