I like Houlihan's, but I wish they were open later. The staff is very friendly, the food is excellent. I particularly enjoy the Thai lime wings and the ahi tuna appetizers. A little out of the way unless you happen to be staying at the Holiday Inn or finishing up a round of golf next door. I wish there was a larger selection of beers on tap, but otherwise I really enjoy the times I find myself at Houlihan's.
Review Source:I have been here a couple times and each time has been a good! The service at the bar was great, drinks were good, and the wings and nachos are tasty as well. I would recommend it for someone looking to eat or grab a drink in the Front Royal area, and obviously someone staying at the Holiday Inn.
Review Source:Unfortunately, I have to write a bad review. The restaurant has a good menu, but the staff and management are very unprofessional. I had a question about an item on the menu when the manager was "making his rounds" he did not have an answer and strangely enough, he walked away. I hope he is taking another position or stepping down because the restaurant business is a place for friendly, outgoing people.
Review Source:My wife and I dine here about once a week. The menu is extensive and the food is very good, portions ample. I generally order the French onion soup and a filet mignon. The wife, being more adventuresome, tries different combinations on the menu. We are rarely disappointed. The steak is as good as any local steakhouse and at a lower price. The drinks are fine too - try a raspberry Long Island ice tea, it will knock your socks off. Service is generally fine with only an occasional lesser performance.
Review Source:I'm staying in the Holiday Inn attached to Houlihans. Â I ate dinner there last night and breakast this am. Â Never again. Â The food was fine although I expected better based on reviews here. Â My big problem was the poor service. Â Once seated for dinner I told my server I was parched and requested iced tea and also a water. Â She took forever to get this to me. Â I was in late so it was not very busy. Â I had the ribs and they were tasty. Â Once I was done I asked for my bill. Â I received it and I placed my credit card in the holder. Â I then waited and waited and waited. Â I finally got the attention of the bartender who came over telling me my server was making a room service run. Â Really. Â This am for breakfast I asked for Iced tea. Â This was an hour after they opened. Â No tea. Â I would have to wait for it to be brewed. Â I have never had a restaurant not have iced tea available for breakfast. Â I told my server I needed a minute to decide what I wanted. Â After about 10 minutes of waiting the manager saw me looking at her. Â She made some excuse on what happened to my server. She took my order. Â Once I received it I never saw her or my server again, Â I nursed the water when it was apparent I was on my own. Â I was done for a while and had to wait for the manager to bring me my bill. Â I always tip well for decent or good service. Â Both bills here saw small tips. Â
I will need to stay at this hotel in the future but I don't see me eating here ever again.
While staying at the co-located Holiday Inn had both dinner as well as breakfast here. Decor inside was pleasant with good service. Started with a chopped salad that had plenty of blue cheese & a tortilla soup that was OK (would pass as needed a bit more flavor). The flatbread pizza was good as were the fish taco's.
Typical breakfast fare with large portions & everything cooked to order. Worth the visit especially if staying at the hotel.
Great place, good atmosphere, friendly, consistant good service. My family likes the mushroom appetizer, I like the fish tacos.
They have some yummy drinks as well. My wife is a big fan of the mango rum drop. I like the John Daly on a hot summers day. Management does a great job of keeping their audience. They run deals all the time, use social media well, and incorporate the kids as well through coloring contests to win a free meal. Each of my kids has one once. Keep up the good work H, glad to have you in the neighborhood.
Chain, schmain. Â I don't care if it's a chain, as long as the experience (food, price, service) is stellar. Â And Houlihan's delivered. Â Sat at the bar. Â I'm used to sardine-tight conditions sitting at bars inside the Beltway, so when I saw a nearly empty large bar on a Saturday night, the restaurant already earned big points. Â Salmon was very good. Â
I'd rank it with the Great American Restaurant's food. Â And Fox Meadow wine...one of my favorite Virginia wineries. Â SCORE!
This restaurant may be attracted to a hotel, a Holiday Inn no less - gasp. Â But the place is really cool, and food very good. Â I would categorize Houghlihan's as a notch or two above other casual dinning type chain offerings in the greater Winchester area. Â The overall vibe is what I will call upscale edgy. Â Not too over the top for grandma, nor as stuffy as Buffy.
Nice bar area with wide selection of "regular" and micro-brew beers. Â As with other fern establishments of this type, they also have the fancy drink offerings. Â Mini drink flights are very unique and include wine, martinis and even tequila tastings - gotta luv it!
On to the main event, the food. Â Not being familiar with this brand at all I had no expectations, but walked away with a resolution to return. Â Our server [Nina] was just chatty enough to provide some background entertainment during the meal as she insured we were well taken care of. Â The food was presented in an upscale manner with taste to match. Â They put all the emphasis on quality versus quantity, and it shows.
The menu is very robust with a full offering from appetizers to deserts. Â A little off the beaten path, but well worth the extra couple of minutes of drive time. Â Great service, nice atmosphere and really good food. Â This local will return again for sure.
