Our food was excellent and so were the employees.  We really enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere.

Someone else described this restaurant as having a 'downward spiral of service' and that is perfectly accurate.

Right after ordering, our non-rowdy, polite, mature (40's) and STONE COLD SOBER group was reprimanded by one manager for bringing "a lot" of wine into the restaurant.   We were made to feel as though we had done something inappropriate or distasteful but were not given any specifics.  He actually said "I'm not at liberty to say".  Each of us at the table agreed that it was the most offensive experience we have ever had in a restaurant.

Shortly after, a second manager came over to apologize for the incident, and told us we would be getting a new server.

However, as it was late, we were starving, and it was a Saturday night at the peak of dining hours, we decided to stay.  Huge mistake.  The food was mediocre at best.  Upon finishing, we received our bill - the full bill, without any discount or offering for the offense.

A representative from our group spoke again to management (to the first manager, unfortunately the second had already left).  He again proceeded to insult our friend and our entire group and literally said to her "Now I know you are drunk - you are repeating yourself", after she continued to ask him what our offense was.  In case you were wondering - she had one glass of wine.  Drunk... really?

It honestly felt a bit like a twilight zone episode- none of us could imagine why or what caused this individual to behave in this manner (including our 'new' waiter, and the other manager).  Regardless, the end result is to pass along this message:  STAY AWAY.

and yes- I joined YELP just to post this review - it was that bad

What I love is that it's different. Wild boar, fish, unusual dishes. Not always the same thing. Great service.

Beautiful patio, great food, and the service was very good.  Had some wild boar while my wife had risotto, both meals were great.  I'd give this place 5 stars and maybe it's unfair to these guys, but I had a hard time getting over some of the customers showing up in tank tops, t-shirts, and baseball caps.  Hey, I wear this stuff every day, but good gawd man, this is a really nice place, what the heck?

I ate here yesterday with three friends.  The service was very gracious and attentive, the food was very good, and the price was reasonable for Napa.  The free corkage is a terrific benefit.  We will definitely come back.

For appetizers, we shared the watermelon and red onion salad, the Ahi tuna salad Nicoise (actually a dinner salad), the beef skewers with hummus, and the mussels with chorizo.  All of them were good, and the Salade Nicoise would make a tasty meal in itself.

For the main course I ordered the braised wild boar -- nicely dark and gamey, served with what seemed like a red wine reduction, and for dessert I had the chocolate almond torte.  You can't go wrong with either one.

This place was awesome! We were just driving through downtown Yountville yelping and looking for a place to eat and I'm glad we stopped here. We even got a peek at Bob Hurley himself too!

I had the vinters menu which included tomato and roasted red pepper soup. Hands down the BEST tomato soup I've ever had. The entree was delicious too! Steak and potatoes. It was totally worth it for $20.

Afterwards we were looking for another winery and our waiter suggested Cornerstone and even gave us 2 for 1 tasting cards. (Cornerstone is an equally amazing place, btw). I would definitely like to come back to this restaurant and try their other foods.

I don't know why this place isn't rated better. Great location, food, ambiance, service and more. Love their menu with crazy options often (wild boar). Love going here and often not crowded on busy nights. Good wine selection too.

Love the food and ambiance. My four year old son loves the buffalo braised ribs, and the fried calamari. We enjoy the hospitality. Lunch, dinner, holidays, we can always count on Hurley's to have excellent food.

Ambiance was warm and casual. My husband and I split a nice salad and he had delicious butternut squash ravioli and I had very fresh white fish. Dessert was a gingerbread cake with baked apples - very yummy. A recommended stop when visiting the Napa area.

We had an enjoyable lunch on the patio. My friend and I both had the set three-course lunch for $25. We could have had two courses for $20, but we were really hungry. We started off with a nice basket of fresh bread. The attentive server poured us each a plate of olive oil and balsamic for bread dipping. For our first course, we had a choice of soup or salad. We both ordered the romaine salad, with interesting polenta "croutons".  My friend liked them, but I would have preferred something more crunchy. We both ordered seafood pasta as main dish, which was delish, with many types of fresh seafood and a creamy saffron sauce. For dessert, I enjoyed the strawberry shortcake, which had a sweet homemade biscuit along with really fresh strawberries and gobs of cream. It was perfect! I also tasted my friend's chocolate cake, but didn't think it was that special. By then I was quite full. As a note, the patio is dog-friendly. I didn't bring my dog, but noticed the waiter bringing a dish of water for a dog at a nearby table. And the menu said no corkage, but I don't remember if that was just with the set lunch or at all times.

What a great experience! Wait staff was super attentive and described the specials incredibly well. We had six in our group and all had different items from the menu, which we all loved. The NY Stip was incredible, cooked to perfection, and the bacon & cheese fritters that came with were excellent, as well as the black bucatini and the fish special. Nice wine list, although not exhaustive, was a nice representation of Yountville.

We will definately go back and sit on the nice patio!

After hearing rave reviews about it, I got the braised wild boar and it delivered!  Very nice food, well seasoned and prepared and some nice wines on their btg list as well.  Good service, nice vibe.  All good things.  Check it out when in Yountville.

Very nice business dinner on a Friday evening.  We split a bottle of the Ghost Block Cab ($115) on the recommendation of the waitress, which was very nice.  The beet salad was quite good, but the sesame-encrusted Ahi tuna wasn't as good as I've had elsewhere.  Hurley's stacks up well against the other Yountville restaurants, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Hurley's was a pleasant surprise. Solid food that was reasonably priced with a nice atmosphere. Our waiter Mathew was friendly and attentive. The restaurant has an open kitchen with  a comfortable bar area to hang out in. There is also seating outside on the patio if you so desire.  Two star off for the unprofessional hostess who tried to talk on the phone while trying to talk with us about a table. She never got off the phone.

A group of friends and I were starving after a day of wine tasting. Checking OpenTable, the only restaurant with reservations still available was Hurley's - that should've been the first clue that this place was not good. However, since we were hungry, we booked the reservation. After waiting outside for 1.5 hours to be seated, they said they didn't have any inside tables open (despite our reservation), and we were stuck outside on the patio. It was almost 9pm, so it was freezing outside! They provided blankets to keep warm, but mine was covered in someone else's hair - GROSS! The least they could do was provide clean, unused blankets to their patrons...

The menu is small, and they were out of a few dishes which, in my opinion, is unacceptable on a Saturday night, especially if there is a small menu. I ordered the ahi tuna, and my friends ordered the salmon, ravioli, endive salad, and mac & cheese. The ahi tasted old and very fishy! I eat a lot of fish, and this was practically inedible! I was really worried I was going to get food poisoning... The salmon had nice flavor, but the side pairings did not compliment the salmon at all. The raviolis were bland, and the sauce was unbearably salty. The endive salad was tasty with a good assortment of toppings, and you can't go wrong with the mac and cheese since it also has bacon.

For drinks, I opted for a soda after a long day of wine drinking. The glass was smaller than my water glass and was filled completely with ice. I finished it within three sips, and when I requested a refill, they told me they do not offer free refills. $2.25 for three sips of soda??? I couldn't believe a restaurant would be so stingy and cheap!

All in all, this place is overpriced, has bad service, and the food is distasteful. I would highly recommend going elsewhere if you're looking for a good meal in Yountville!

I have been to Hurley's several times over the past many years since I live in Yountville and friends have wanted to go. While many of my fellow diners have enjoyed their meals I cannot say that I have found even one them interesting or particularly good. There are so many better restaurants in the area this is one of the last places I would choose and actually never have after my first meal here. The food is uninspired and I haven't had one thing that I cannot cook 10 times better in my own kitchen. Don't bother unless you have no idea what good food is or you're so drunk it doesn't matter.

My wife and I had a couple of drinks here last Saturday night before our dinner reservations at Bottega.   We opted to sit at the bar and we were both glad we decided to do that!  The bartender was awesome!  Not only was she very friendly but mixed some very good drinks as well.   My wife first ordered a Woodford Reserve Manhattan.   When she later heard the specialty cocktail 'Rye Not' was a slight variation on a Manhattan, she tried that next and totally loved that drink even more!   I stayed true to myself and got a couple of Martinis.  They were beautifully prepared with plenty of ice chips, just the way I like them!   All in all a great time and I'm glad we came here for drinks.  If you want a great cocktail (and seemingly good food, though I can only review based on how the dishes looked) then you probably could do worse than Hurley's.

Stopped by for a late night drink, since not to many places are open that late in Yountville. The Chai-Tini is out of this world delicious. Super fun martini! The bar tender was very helpful at recommendations, and I am sure to be back.

Have eaten there in the past for lunch as well and had a lovely time sitting on their patio! Definitely recommend a stop if you are in town!

May 13, 2011, we hosted a 65 guest wedding rehearsal dinner at Hurley's. Some of the guests had chicken and the center was raw, and they could not eat it. Unfortunately, they all complained to me the next day rather than sending it back to the kitchen. That next Monday, I emailed Hurley's and the person said, well we had another party across the street at Vintage Inn. I wrote back, once again, and no compensation or otherwise was offered. Basically, they blew me off.

    Communication Breakdown Diminishes Good Food.....

Pros:    Good food.  Convenient location ( middle of Yountville ).
Cons:    Lack of communication.  Limited menu.

Suggestion:  Everybody in your group should order soup and/or an appetizer and/or side salad

Our group of 4 couples touring the Napa Valley at the end of December needed to stop for lunch in Yountville between visiting wineries and getting ready for New Year's Eve.  The town may be small, but the crowds are rather large, so each place we spotted along the main street... Washington...seemed to have a longer line than the last one.  Then we noticed Hurley's, a half block from Bouchon, and they were able to seat us within 5 minutes.

    -   Dining Room:   From what I saw, the restaurant seating area is shaped like the letter "L".  There's a bar near the front...then a relatively narrow section with tables which opens to a more spacious area at the base of the "L".  Furnishings were contemporary, yet warm, with a good amount of natural light.

    -   Food:  Since we arrived at Hurley's around 2 PM and a big New Year's Eve dinner was scheduled for 9 PM at Redd ( a few blocks to the south ), our group didn't need or want to pig-out  before the blow-out a few hours later, so most of us got soup and/or salad and/or an appetizer.

I had soup which I can't remember ( it was that good ) and a bowl of calamari which was quite tasty.  My wife and some other people had an entrée-size salad 30 minutes after my calamari arrived.  She said it was good, but by that time it almost didn't matter.

Why the delay?  Our server, a nice young woman, said the kitchen has a policy of not starting to prepare an entrée until the initial course is done.  So if one person orders the crab cakes ( but not an entrée ) and a tablemate just wants a big salad, the salad won't get started til the plate of crab cakes is done.

Although our server was friendly and helpful, we didn't know about the policy until I got up and asked somebody "what's going on?  People waited 30 minutes for food while others had soup and an appetizer?"  It's one thing to have a policy and another to let people know about it.

    -   Menu:  California eclectic.  I noticed a choice of 4 appetizers, 4 salads, 1 soup and around 12 entrees, including a few oddballs like "Braised Wild Texas Boar" and "Tamarind and Chipolte Glazed Buffalo Short Ribs".  The latter might not be a vegetarian delight, but several of the main dishes either fit that category or one for pescatarians.  Hurley's doesn't have a long list of choices, but there's probably something for most people.

    -   Price and Value:  Reasonable.

    -   Service:   Our young lady was nice enough, but did not communicate Hurley's kitchen policy.  As a result, people were practically begging for food at 230-3 PM.  If they had known, their selections of food ( and restaurant ) might have been different.

    -   Parking:  There's a big outdoor lot on the other side of Washington Street which serves most of the "downtown" area.

    -   Bathroom:  Okay.  Nothing bad or fancy.

Hurley's is a respectable choice for people wandering around Yountville.  I'd give it 4 stars compared to other restaurants at its position on the food chain, but that long unexpected wait for food left a sour taste in the mouths of many in my group.

Best focaccia ever! Seriously.  I'm not a bread person and i could not stop eating this. I came here as part of our company summer outing. We had a salad w roasted beets and burrata, risotto with peas and tomatoes, and a ice cream cookie sandwich thing. The risotto was not very good. It was not cheesy enough. I didn't eat it after a few bites. The steak and seafood tagine went over very well with my other coworkers. My desert was an ice cream
cookie sandwich- not a regular one. This one was with gellatto and caramel and raspberry coulis and chocolate sauce.  Took all my willpower not to finish it.

There was good service, the waiters refilled my teapot all the time!

3.5 stars round to 4 for the bread

The polenta croutons in the salad were the stars of our meal, followed closely by the creamy polenta that accompanied the wild boar -- among the best I've had. Chef Hurley's dishes are well-conceptualized, though there were some missteps in execution. The salad was underseasoned. Crab cakes were A-OK; I really loved the hit of acid but they left me yearning for larger chunks of crab. Wild boar had nice flavors, though the cut very lean, and the crispy onions no longer crispy... just greasy. While the ice cream sandwich is delicious, opt for the bread pudding during colder months. My glass of Golden Goose went down easy -- great for ginger fans looking for a clean, slightly sweetened cocktail. Winos: definitely get a bottle of 2011 Belle Glos Pinot noir -- best red I've had in a great while. // 3.5 stars

Here is why I will never go back to Hurley's in Yountville.

I am a Napa local. I had been dining for lunch break at Hurley's for several days over the past few weeks. The mac n' cheese was very good and reasonably priced. The nicoise salad was disappointing and expensive ($17).

But I was working with them and enjoying the service.

Monday, Dec 17 I stopped in for lunch and had a crab salad. It was not good and I did not finish it. After returning to work I became very nauseated. I had to fight back the urge to purge. I was unable to eat anything but 1/2 C of white rice until Wednesday. After perusing lunch options with my co workers at a local winery I decided to go back to Hurley's. I thought they should know about my experience. I felt no ill will. After being seated I asked for the manager. She came over and I explained my experience. She said that was the Chef's domain. She would speak with him and be "right back". I never saw her again.

Many minutes later (25 or so) Chef/Owner Bob Hurley came to my table while I was eating my soup. I explained that I had been enjoying the restaurant at lunch for the past couple of weeks and liked it just fine. We also had mutual friends in common. He then listened patronizingly to my experience. When I finished he proceeded in a very arrogant manner to describe to me the clinical definition of food poisoning -- a profile my experience did not fit. He expressed condolences that I had been under the weather. Glad that I was better. I reiterated that I absolutely KNEW that the reaction I had was a result of the crab salad. I pointed out that I had never said anything about food poisoning. In fact, I really felt that I had simply had a very negative reaction to the crab salad. For some reason. During this time appx. 8-9 minutes my soup had gone cold.

Bob Hurley's attitude and lack of authenticity. His patronizing and insulting demeanor left me cold. I asked him to leave so I could finish my soup (cold).
I think he has expired his enthusiasm for the restaurant business and should retire to do something where no customer service is involved.

He did. I will never go back. I went back to work and shared that experience with co- workers 5 of whom will never eat there again. One had had two similar experiences with Hurley's crab dishes.

Hurley's is a decent restaurant with reasonable prices (for Yountville). From the previous reviews I was a bit hesitant about going, but we decided to go for an impromptu lunch.

For lunch I got the burger. It was exceptionally good. I found myself wanting more. It was huge so I couldn't finish it, but it left me really satisfied.

Dinner was okay, at best. I got the rosemary and maple roasted chicken. It lacked flavor and just needed an extra something. Anybody could have cooked the chicken.

The restaurant was a lot more fancier than the name lent itself. It had a modern feel with an open kitchen where you could see what was being cooked.

Judging from my experience and reading the various reviews, it sounds like this is a really hit or miss place. I think its a solid recommendation for lunch with reasonable prices.

We chose Hurley's as the spot to end a "party bus" winery tour, celebrating a friend's 70th birthday.  We were 22 strong, and arrived a bit late.  We had a wonderful experience.  There was no hassle in making the reservations, and they were ready for us, with pre-printed (we pre-selected the menu options), customized menus on the table.

The manager, Meredith, took me aside when we arrived and asked if I had any special requests or needs, and we were assigned a team of two servers and two bussers.  Rishann and Sheena did a fantastic job as our servers, with Tony and Hugo backing them up!  I met one of the owners/GM as well, Jerry, and he was very nice and kept watch over everything as well.

The service was timely, friendly and attentive.  The food arrived hot and everything was delicious!  All in all, just a very positive experience.

Well done, Hurley's!  We'll be back - whether you like it or not!!  (we were the group with the pink and white boas.)

I'd heard mixed things about this place and overall my experience here was good.  I loved the setting and the customer service was excellent.  The food, however, was less than spectacular.  Almost everyone at the table got the Cheeseburger, which was just okay...the beef was pretty flavorless and made the rest of the burger pretty dull.  A few of the people at our table, including me, also had issues since the burger had gristle/bone in the burger, which was pretty weird...I'd never experienced that before.  The restaurant removed one of the burgers from the check, but not the other two.  We ordered a dish of french fries covered with cheese that was very good.

I think this is the kind of restaurant where there are probably a few really good items to choose from.  I chose the wrong item, but I would go back and try something else.

It just depends what you are looking for here!

I truly enjoyed the service for my first time. The waiters were attentive and on time with the food. Oh my gosh you have to enjoy the bbq appetizer it is sooooo soft and very flavored! And the burgers are not bad as well :) I really like how delicate they are with preparing food and everything is up to par!

I think for a location being at Yountville, its good especially when you have not reserved anything in Yountville, this would be your last but great resort because they dont do reservations unless its with a big group

The wild boar was amazing!!!  Enough said.  This is my new favorite restaurant in Napa Valley.  Best part: NO CORKAGE FEE!  Bring a bottle of wine to enjoy!

If you're going on a weekend with a larger group, make a reservation.  Limited close parking.  BTW, Hurley's is located near Buchon Bakery.

Looking at these reviews, I'm surprised this restaurant doesn't have at least 4 stars here.

I took my SO here after an important event.  We decided between Hurley's and Redd, and I can definitely say that Hurley's was the right choice.

Our waitress was friendly and attentive, not sacrificing one for the other.  We decided, after she mentioned the specials, to get the pear and fig salad and also the chowder.  Both were very delicious.  The salad especially stood out; more people need to use figs in salad.  My SO ordered a pasta dish and I ordered the buffalo short ribs.  Both dishes were great, although I'll focus on mine since I ate the vast majority of it.  The short ribs came with a tamarind glaze that enhanced the flavor of the buffalo without overpowering it; it was, thankfully, not a heavy dish.  The risotto was just what I would come to expect.  At the end, we ordered the ice cream sandwich, a perfect ending to a nice meal.

Would I come back here?  Definitely!

I have been there a few times and I recommend it as one of the best spots to eat or have a drink in Yountville.

One of the coolest things about Hurley's is their outdoor dining area. The servers greet  you with a smile and attend to your needs at once and make you feel comfortable and relaxed.

    5 Stars for sure!

I'm surprised this place only has 3.5 stars. Maybe because of what I ate, I would come back, no doubt. My hubby and I didn't have reservations for dinner anywhere and finished our tasting kind of late so we decided to just eat at a place nearby, Hurley's. We walked in and the first thing the hostess asked was whether or not we had a reservation and we said no. She looked around and said they were full, but can sit us on the "bar table" if we don't mind. We gladly took it.

Service in general was not bad. Our server did come to fill our waters and when we needed something, we always got it. I can't say it was the most friendly service I've received though (not to say they were rude or anything, because they weren't). I shared a roasted baby beet salad which did not knock me off my socks. But, my entree: black bucatini with pan seared sea scallop and shrimp was yummy. I loved the texture of the bucatini and the somewhat tangy sauce. Unfortunately, as others have pointed out, there was sand in the scallop so they didn't do a great job with that. My husband ordered the braised wild texas boar and it wasn't as gammy as I expected. Quite flavorful too if you ask me.

This is a fairly expensive meal but I thought it was decent and would come back if the opportunity arises.

Ummmm burger.  With this restaurant sitting quietly amongst other big names like Bouchon and surrounding businesses it's hard to spot.  Once you make eye contact you're in for a good treat.  The menu is vast with several options for all of your stomach's needs.  The corn and salmon chowder was a fantastic way to start the meal of burgers with french fries and white wine.  Yeah eclectic ordering I know, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.  The wine selection was good (obviously).  It's hard to find a bad wine in the heart of Napa Valley.  The burgers were OK.  I wouldn't say it was the best thing I've ever tasted but for the $14 price tag it was worth it.  Fresh veggies surrounded the plate and fries adorned the side waiting for your fingertips to partake.

Service was great and the host talked us into sitting inside by the large open doors to the back patio.  It was a beautiful day to sit outside and be seen but this was another nice alternative to waiting 20mins.

Hurley's is a great choice in the Napa Valley....

Our first visit here was by chance... and we were pleased.  If the gnocchi is ever on the menu, GET IT.  It is done correctly... little pillows that, POOF! melt in your mouth.  The brie grilled cheese sammie was great as well.

Second visit:  Braised Boar ragout.   Just get it.  Trust me.  sooooo good...  I have not had a bad meal here.  We have been here for lunch and dinner.  I am not sure what the late dining bar fare is like, as we have not had it.  But I highly recommend hurley's... ask about the specials and take the server's advice!!
