Temporarily out-of-business according to walking by and their FB account: <a href="/redir?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FILFORNO&s=2183a485ae821da25cbc01f7fc09879f5902a7fc8f66c5603fa44f61cf0a22a6" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.facebook.com…</a>

When is was open, the pizza was great for take out, but the dine-in for meals seemed to struggle with service.

Its good if you like pizza. Not to impressed personally. But the wood fire pizza is why I recommend it.

Service is poor - you feel ignored.  Last time their credit card machine was not working because someone used the wrong phone line.  Prices are okay and food is fine.  Not a favorite place.

I would give this place a 2.5 if I could, but I rounded up since it is much better pizza than the chain pizza places (which isn't hard to accomplish!) and at $10 for a 14" cheese, the price is very comparable.

They open at 11am Thursday through Sunday. I came in around 12:30 Thursday, and they were out of mushrooms. I didn't find this out until after waiting 30 minutes for the pizza I ordered. There were 3 seated parties, and I waited 50 minutes for a carryout pizza that took 10 to cook.

The crust is super thin, yet chewy, the sauce was decent, the cheese was at least twice as thick as the crust. The balance was a bit off, for me.  The toppings were very sparse, I would not order anything but cheese pizza or maybe a one-topping from here.  There are only a few places I am aware of in Michiana to get a wood-fired pizza, which is a nice plus. It imparts a unique, very slight smokey flavor to the crust. The oven is in plain view of the small dining room, which is a nice touch.

I drove well out of my way to try them, and it wasn't worth the drive.  If I lived in Goshen/Dunlap I would eat here occasionally, the pizza is a good value for the money and I don't know a better place within a couple miles.

Il Forno was a really nice place to eat.  I ordered the garlic bread and a pizza with pepperoni, onion, and banana peppers. The garlic bread had a great garlic flavor; however, the bread was a little lackluster in terms of texture. The pizza's texture was much more interesting; the wood-fired crust was a wonderful combination of chewy and crispy. I thought that the sauce was a little overpowering, but overall the pizza was a-ok. The staff was prompt and very friendly even though they were busy preparing for a wedding reception dinner at the same time. The atmosphere of the restaurant definitely positively influenced my experience there. The warm lighting and black-and-white checkered tablecloth made me feel like I was eating at the Italian restaurant in "Lady & the Tramp," which for me is a very good thing.

Il Forno: a gem of local pizza-dom in Goshen! If you're trying to decide between this pizza and a chain pizza restaurant, I recommend Il Forno's wood-fired creations in a heartbeat.

    Wood fired pizza.

If that didn't catch your attention then this place is probably not for you. But if wood fired pizza makes your tummy do a little happy flip, then this is a great place to visit. Their crust is a nice chewy texture that meets thin and thick crust lovers in the middle. The sauce is solid, but not overwhelming. The cheese is lovely, and the toppings are fresh.

Do yourself a favor and get the garlic cheese bread. Fresh garlic...you won't be disappointed.

The service is laid back which can be great in some cases, but in my case I tend to want a bit more attention. It also took a strange amount of time for us to be seated (i.e. more than 15 min) even though the middle of the room was empty and the back half was completely empty (i.e. closed). We were six of us, but it seemed like since 3/4 of the space was empty that they could have fit us in....

I love when a cheese pizza tastes better than any combination of toppings. Il Forno's does that for me. The crust is chewy and fresh. The sauce is solid. And sticking to a 14" format simplifies things for everyone.

The wait time can be a bit rough, especially on First Fridays, but that's the price you pay for a wood-fire pizza.
