Alex was great, especially for the price of around $25.
Some of what he did I knew was slight of hand, I just wasn't good enough to see him do it.
There were a few tricks he did though that we were all talking for a few days about how he might have done them. Â Still don't have a clue. Â
He's pretty funny and had us laughing the whole time and he seems like a genuinely nice guy.
His interaction with the audience and volunteers was great as well.
Get their early though. Â We showed up right as the doors opened and all of the tables were full by the time we got in.
Looking forward to his tour of multiple cities that will lead him to Portland, OR.
I brought my teenaged son to South Shore for vacation. I wanted to find some activities that we could enjoy together outside of the obvious hiking/swimming, etc. Â I stumbled upon this show on the internet and it sounded fun. Well. Fun isn't the word. Â Amazing! Â Fantastic! Entertaining! Â Mind boggling! Are more apt descriptions. Â Not only is Alex enormously talented, he is witty, charming, flirty and incredibly entertaining! Â
He is so genuine you just want him to be a superstar! Â Humble and warm--engaging and personable. Â He stood outside after the show to say hello to every member of the audience who wanted to meet him!
If you've got an open evening...you GOTTA GO SEE ALEX!
I came to see Alex with my parents after they had a fantastic time watching his show the month before (and they are not easily impressed by anything). I was pretty skeptical going into what appears to be a small show in S. Lake Tahoe but found myself thoroughly entertained. The illusions were mind-boggling and the theater is pretty intimate so it seems like you have a  good view from anywhere.
However, I was most impressed and touched by how personable, funny, and humble Alex was. Definitely would recommend this for anyone visiting the area.
This review is coming from the person who have seen Xtreme Magic Dirk Arthur - at Tropicana Las Vegas, Nathan Burton at Flamingo Las Vegas and David Copperfield (MGM) ... Just coming from Illusion Fusion show, I think based on ticket pricing this is possibly the best magic show I have seen .. no offense to Burton, Dirk and David... but Alex, is putting some show in Tahoe.. Some of magic tricks were totally new and I was very impressed... I will recommend everybody to go and you will really like it.
Review Source:Got a chance to see Alex Ramone at the Horizon last night. Awesome show and definitely believe he needs to be working in Vegas! He's WAY too talented to be working at the Horizon at Tahoe. I liked the mix of comedy and magic, and he really knows how to connect with the audience! Hard to find an entertainer or a show that is suitable for the entire family.
Review Source:With older teens in tow, we checked out the show by Alex Ramon and were completely entertained. This is a top-notch show and Alex is an enthusiastic, personable and sincere performer who puts together illusion, humor, audience-participation and fun music for 1.5 hours of entertainent. For under $25 p/p, your entertainment dollar is well-spent -- ESPECIALLY if you're looking for a night-time family activity in the casinos of South Lake Tahoe!
The Horizon Casino is a little blah, but again, since we we came for the show, it really didn't matter.
It's OK, but I really wouldn't go out of my way to see it again. Â
The venue itself is very small and lacked proper air conditioning. Â We were fortunate enough to not be near the hot lights of the stage, but we were still sweltering during the 1.5 hour performance.
Based on the other Yelp reviews, we were geared up for an amazing, laugh out loud performance. Â
Instead, we got a few mild chuckles every now and then - really only one act made us actually laugh, due to an audience member really getting into it, sadly not Alex himself. =/
Most of the tricks were just "OK". Â A few actually gave us a "hmmmm, how did he do it?" moments. Â Some of them, like the rope trick, just seemed to go on far too long. Â Some of them, like the lightbulb trick, I wished went longer!
What kind of irritated me was the constant reiterating about how 'hot' his assistant was. Â Innuendo after innuendo pretty much the entire show. Â We get it - she's good looking - can we have some magic now?
Overall, good if you have a family that is easily entertained. Â If you're a stickler for a solid magic show, and have something else in SLT to do, I'd honestly say pass. Â
Maybe Alex was off his game that night, but I had REALLY high hopes for something so widely positively reviewed. Instead, I left disappointed and kinda bored.
Totally enjoyed the show - great entertainer and illusionist. He definitely deserves to be somewhere nicer than the Horizon. If you want a great show with laughs, audience participation and some awesome hmmmm moments ... make time to go see the show. Well well worth the price and suitable for all ages.
Review Source:Awesome show! Alex was very engaging throughout the show; his tricks were mind boggling and he performed them with finesse..me and my husband were laughing throughout the show..it was way beyond our expectations..best 25$ spent on entertainment! Do not miss it if u r in tahoe..it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip !
Review Source:Great show to see if you're in Lake Tahoe. Alex is really funny and does many mind boggling tricks. He also has a great rapport with the audience and encourages participation. In fact the best parts were when he would choose people from the audience to help with his various illusions. I would highly recommend this show for anyone looking for entertainment in South Lake Tahoe!!
Review Source:Looking for something to do in Lake Tahoe. Â You cannot go wrong watching this show. Â We went to see this last Tuesday after seeing a advertisement for the show in the local Lake Tahoe Entertainment Guide. Thought we would give it a try. Â Very happy we did. Â Very good show. Â Do not miss out on this if you are ever in Lake Tahoe. Â Thank you for your fantastic show Alex.
Review Source:After dinner, we decided to see what is available for entertainment and were told by the concierge that there is an illusion show in Horizon. We did not have any expectation of this performer. We went in and there were about 30-40 guests. This is the low season and it was Tuesday. Alex is personable and funny. The performance exceeded the many bigger shows we have seen in Las Vegas or cruise ships. He did many traditional magic tricks to perfection. Even though I have seen a few of them before but I am still at awe of how it was done. Each act is a stellar performance. I would give him a six star out of five. The entry fee is only $28 and I think it is well worth the money. One suggestion is that do not see Magic revealed or the like before any magic show. This is entertainment, right?
Review Source:I have seen Alex Ramon perform in libraries since he was a teenager. When my family was up in Tahoe, we made sure to catch Illusion Fusion, and my 5 year old daughter loved the show, and Alex is her favorite magician! My husband was amazed, and I was too. I have seen a lot of magicians, and Alex is one of the best around! He is funny, professional, charming, and gifted. Definitely something the whole family can enjoy. Great venue too. We will definitely return next time we are in town!
Review Source:What can I say, FANTASTIC! Â My wife, son and I went to the show for the first time and didn't know what to expect. Â We were pleasantly surprised and totally entertained! Â He leaves you wondering and laughing the whole time. Â Very interactive with audience participation. Â A must see when in Tahoe, fun for the whole family.
Review Source:I saw this show last night and my cheeks and abs are still sore from laughing! Alex is truly a master at his craft and his showmanship keeps you engaged and amazed throughout the performance. His passion for making people happy is apparent in every interaction and his story is truly inspirational. If your in the Tahoe area looking for a great night out, whether it be a date, group of friends, or a family affair, Illusion Fusion is sure to be a hit. I look forward to seeing where this true talent ends up!
Review Source:This was overall a really fun show and great family entertainment. The Horizon is very desolate and their wasn't much of a crowd for a Friday night show so we were worried. But we got to sit right up front and it was worth the $25 ticket price. Alex was a great entertainer and I loved how he engaged the audience. He did a mind reading trick, during which he was asking the crowd to confirm if the sheets of plexiglass he was using were solid, when he turned to me and (pointing to his backside) asked, "is this a solid bottom?". I of course agreed, and couldn't help but wonder....how the heck did he read MY mind? We all left there with cheeks hurting from smiling.
I decided to give 4 stars only because I don't "trust" magicians. Magic frustrates me when I can't figure it out. But Alex was adorable. I'd definitely want to see him (and his backside) again!
Alex Ramon's show was fantastic! I was very impressed with his tricks... Much more than I would have expected for this neck of the woods. Plus, he pulled me out of the audience to participate in one of the illusions so I give extra props for that! It was so much fun! I enjoyed the whole show and really appreciated his clean comedic skills on top of his crafty magic. I highly recommend his show to anyone looking for some top notch entertainment!
Review Source:When my wife and I needed something to do on a Tuesday night, SLTahoe is pretty dead if you don't want to drink or gamble.
Alex was out of town during our week in Tahoe but Jay Alexander held his own. He was funny and bind boggling good at his craft.
I recommend this for kids and adults. Be sure to pick up the correct coupon bc there are a few floating around. The one we needed was the size of a business card.
Holy cow... I have to start with the show, in particular, Alex, needs a bigger stage... on the likes of Houdini, Vegas, something bigger than where he is now!! This is an amazing show, he is a great performer, you will not regret going to the show, just don't give up on it when you walk in the door (The Horizon Casino is a bit rundown and the stage he is on seems fairly small). Alex, you rocked the stage, your magic is top notch, and you deserve a million times bigger of a stage!!
Folks, he is going on tour next year, if you have a show near you, go see him.... it flipping rocks...
Recently, I've had a growing admiration for magicians and their craft. When my girlfriend and I bought tickets to this show I was excited to see something, anything really. When I walked into the showroom it was a bit small, but when the show started I was immediately impressed at the magnitude of the opening act! Alex began the show with a great opening act that captivated my girlfriend and I.
Alex really enjoyed the interaction he had with the audience, and when you're at a casino with cheap-to-free alcohol there might be some slightly intoxicated audience members which makes it difficult to interact with the audience; but Alex held his own. He was unbelievably funny; very charming; personable and witty; and a true showman. The illusions themselves were amazing, but it was Alex's charisma that made the show feel complete.
It was my first time in Lake Tahoe and anyone who visits must go see this show. You won't regret it and it's a great show for all ages.
I decided to see the illusion fusion show after seeing the reviews it had gotten on yelp. Â The show was spectacular I did not expect much. All I knew was that everybody liked it but I had not heard of Alex Ramon but now after seeing it I wish I would have a long time ago. He is funny, good looking and is one great illusionist. I was laughing the whole show and when i wasn't laughing I was in shock at some of the tricks he was performing. Â Alex was extremely down to earth, friendly to everyone in the audience and very family oriented. Â He even took pictures with me and my friend! Â The show was amazing and a great place to take your family or friends I am recommending this show to all my friends and Im even gonna see the show again when he goes on tour to my city.
Best thing we did in Tahoe!
Wonderful and entertaining show. Alex is fabulous - great magician, funny and has excellent stage presence.
As a local in Lake Tahoe, I see many of the shows. This is first class. Must see. Show is geared for everyone - child to seniors. Alex is sooo personable - you will love watching him.
Thank you for a fun night
Alex is a funny guy! He was personable and quick witted and really reeled the audience in. I enjoyed his show quite a bit and all the kids in the audience, mine included, loved the show. The illusions were fantastic.
The only down side was the venue. Smells like a freshly smoked cigarette. It is dated and musty and the smoke smell made my 9 yr old so sick he had to leave. If your kids have never been in this kind of environment, it might be best to bring them earlier or avoid it. I am a former smoker and it gave me a headache.
