My buddy's band always play the hell hole down the street. I look forward to these shows so I can come to Jack's. The place is HUGE. They have 2 giant bars with a large beer selection.
They even have happy hour deals of $1 beers and cheap wings on weekends. The CORN! Holy crap order the corn.....get the basket it's the best deal and you will really wish you did after just 1 piece. I never had the ribs but after reading the reviews I'll be sure to try them next time. Pizza's are good and the vibes are good also. I've been here in the winter and it's busy so you know they are all locals. Unlike most local spots everyone doesn't grill you the second you walk in.
A ton of TVs line the walls and they have no problem putting on any special requests. They were not showing a UFC, but once I informed them it was on for free and not PPV they gladly put it on several TVs around our table. Everyone sitting with us could view it on different screens instead of twisting around to all watch it on 1 TV.
Also they sell some local beef jerky at the bar that is very good.
The best bar in Long Branch, New Jersey.
I went to Monmouth University for my undergrad, this place brings back such great memories. Â I turned 21 here, and had the time of my life there that night.
Jack's is a place you have to visit when you go to visit Monmouth. Â It just goes without saying.
The FOOD IS GREAT and the drinks are cheap. Â What more could you want?
Huge beer selection...much bigger than the Draft House 200 ft away ironically with a better selection. Â I've always been impressed with the food here as well, and it's not just run of the mill bar food. Â Though the wings, bar pies, and ribs are amazing, Â the general menu is really impressive too.
You will not be disappointed here.
Come for the vast selection of beer. Stay for the back back ribs.
I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped inside this bar. There were so many good beers on tap and so many food options (especially with the ribs). I had 3 or 4 different beers and they all were great. I tried samples of a couple more and they were ok. The bartender was very generous with giving us samples. One would think that a bar that's decor is peppered with miller lite and coors posters would not have great beer on tap. They however would be wrong.
This joint has some pretty good bar food. The wings and fries were pretty good. The ribs were solid. Their ribs reminded me of being a family cookout. Meat fell off the bones and most of all they looked beautiful.
The only bad thing about this bar was the bathroom next to the the first bar. It was a single bathroom with no lock on the door. I mean what if some patron from out of town had to pinch a serious loaf, and he sat there nervously awaiting for a drunken stranger to walk in on him. Phew! Good thing I won't have to go through that again.
Lastly, this bar is huge as shit.
good dive bar. you can go in sneakers flip flops tshirts ..hell sweats if you want. cheap prices, Â rock music. different crowds but they all look the same since nobody dresses up to go here. wanna get drunk cheap in public and watch a game jacks is the place. want to look pretty and find men.. jacks is not the place. im a fan SOMETIMES. lots of highschool but turned grown up clicks and then plenty of monmouth kids.
Review Source:If I were writing this review 2 years ago, I would have given it 4 stars. I am giving it 3 now because they have renovated their whole building and it isn't the same college hangout that it used to be.
The bartenders are still cool and know how to make a drink and they do so with haste. The thing is, Jacks just isn't Jacks anymore. It's not as fun as it used to be.
The wings are delicious and so are the pizza slices that they sell to inebriated students for one dollar a slice.
I'll go here maybe once more and if my mind isn't changed then Jacks will have lost a customer. RIP old Jacks.
the space: big as fuck. Seriously this bar has tables, booths, games, and room for you to stand in oogle their numerous TV's . Too bad the bathroom looks like it belongs in a highschool built in the 70s.
The drinks: They have a good number of beers on tap( maybe 30?). Their menu, however doesn't do a good job explaining the type of beer, so you are left guessing or begging for sample after sample. The bartender was nice enough to let me sample to my tounge's content, but I wish they would have written types on their menu.
Food: The food to me was good bar food, but by no means wonderful. If you're like me and  don't go to bars to dine on the finest cuisine then you will like it just fine. I did find it of nothing came with fries. Fries are an extra buck and sweet potato fries/tots are an extra 2 bucks. BOOOO
I did try the ribs and they were good, but again not great. For a bar the ribs are delicious. If this were a BBQ place they would be considered average.
They have TV's that appear to be growing out of the wall, so it is a great place to watch any event. I will definitely be back
Jacks is known for their barbecue, which is smoked several times a week the right way; slow and seasoned. Â The taste tells the tale of the work that was put into the prep and cooking of the ribs. Awesome hot wings are the perfect bar food to watch your favorite games on any number of flat screens crammed into every wall space that a TV would fit.
Top that off with being able to select from dozens of awesome micro brew beers, and the fast and friendly service that accompanies every visit, and you will know why this place is always packed.
Just be ready for the college crowd that is always here. They are mostly harmless, but always present with Monmouth University just down the road.
I really love this bar. Â I've only been twice, but had a really good time both times. Â The place looks tiny from the outside, but is actually huge when you get inside. Â I believe there are 3 bars inside. Â It's crowded enough, but not too crowded. Â The prices are pretty good also. Â Mixed drinks about $4, beer $3, and there is always a shot girl walking around with really good $2 shots. Â The bartenders are friendly and wait on you immediately. Â There was a band playing when we went, but we sat in the back room and couldn't hear the band, just music the bar had playing from speakers. Â There are also arcade games here.. skeeball, basketball, etc. Â I wish it wasn't 45 minutes from my house or I would go way more often. Â Also, no cover charge.
Review Source:Best Wings and Ribs in the A/O (Area of Operations) ... Period. We order takeaway during the NFL Season and Postseason. We've NEVER been disappointed. Even their Blue-cheese dip is not to be toyed with. How do they make that stuff?
Go Big Blue! New York Football Giants; Super Bowl XLVI Champions! GMen!!!
"I want my baby-back baby-back baby-back..."
Good wings and fun place to watch football on Sunday afternoons. Â I would recommend if you are looking for somewhere to hang out, our food took a little longer than I would have liked to get but once it got there I liked it. Â It was a fun afternoon to watch the Giants game when I was there several weeks ago, when I am back down in Long Branch visiting the in-laws I will stop back in.
Review Source:Bartenders are the friendliest around. They deal with swarms of college kids so they know how to run the joint properly. Food might take a little while but its almost always perfect and complimented by their great beer selection. Nothing to frilly here, but a great local place to hang, alone or with a group of however many.
Review Source:I'm pumping this place up, elevating from my previous 3 star review ...BEST BAR in area for me.  I had some crazy memories of this place when I was younger (sloppy drunkenness with the Monmouth U crew on Tuesday nights).  I've grown up and the place has grown up too.  The beer selection is vast and ever-improving.  Where else can you get a Riverhorse Triple on tap?  That's a SERIOUS brew.  ...and the food is simply awesome... best bar food in the area including some slammin wings (garlic chicken wings are the best I've had in NJ), excellent Mexican eats (tacos and tostones), and insane clam strips (clearly on 'roids).  It's also spacious.  Lots of fun games in the back like skeeball and darts.  I've even taken my 2 year old son here for early dinner - it's kid friendly if you go at the right times.  I hear they have Wi-Fi, so  I'll hold my Fantasy Football Draft here and frequent on gamedays.  Jacks rocks!
Review Source:If you want a HUGE VARIETY of beer, go to Jacks. Â If you want a variety of great food, go to Jacks. Â If you want the best ribs in New Jersey, go to Jacks!! Â Great place for all ages when you want to eat and relax. Â Plenty of TV's to watch too!! Â If your down the shore, make an effort to go to Jacks, you won't be disappointed
Review Source:Largest beer selection in our area with unreasonably good prices.
Best chicken wings and clam strips in Monmouth county. Tasty ribs & fried chicken.
Awesome, friendly bartenders, a great local crowd, and a huge space featuring shuffleboard, skeeball, darts, and video games.
'Nuff said.
Awesome massive bar with killer draft list. Â Definitely a townie/college bar during the non-summer months, but with such a huge place it's easy to find room for you and your crew. Â Skee-ball, pinball, Pop-a-shot, a vintage Tron machine, lots of fun stuff to use.
The food there is good, solid bar food at a good price.  Strong TV setup.  And live music on the weekend.  Honestly, if you like great beers (River Horse Belgian Freeze, Mad Elf, two different Magic Hats, Allagash, too many to remember),  a good bar in a good neighborhood four blocks from the ocean, come in to Jack's  But I'd definitely recommend coming with others as it's more of a group with your own group place as opposed to a pick-up joint.
I go on Thursday nights and sometimes there are a ton of college kids and sometimes townies. Â The DJ's on Thursday are excellent but I hear they aren't there during the summer. Â
The food is pretty good and well worth the money. Â The bartenders have a heavy hand so you get your money's worth. Â
Well worth the trip down from New Brunswick for the good music.
Wow, can't believe no one has reviewed this yet..
This is basically my watering hole down at the Jersey Shore. Yes, during the school year it is filled with Monmouth U students.but it's OK then. Better during the summer and holidays :)
Cheap drinks. Chris Morrisey on Saturday nights!!!
It's a hop, skip and a jump from Ocean Ave (ie the beach!!).
So, check it out if you want a fun place to just hang out with friends. Don't go here with a date or looking to pick someone up because it's just NOT for that. hahaha
It's a restaurant, too--the food is pretty good.
