We were seated right away but service was horrible the whole dinner.  My Portobello burger was flavorless. The mushroom tasted watery, not seasoned at all.   I will probably come back and try something else. My husband continues to visit with his boss while on town.  I believe in second chances or perhaps a great waitress.

This place was very busy when I was there with a friend for St. Patrick's Day.  The staff seemed over whelmed and looked like they were having a hard time keeping up.  It took us a very long time to get our first drinks and decided not to get anything to eat.  Over all we had a good time and we will be checking out the place again when I'm in town.

The burgers are the BEST: fresh, done exactly to order, and on a roll that perfectly holds the patty while absorbing the delicious juices. I had the blackened Cajun burger--rare--which was sort of a litmus test as to their burger expertise. It was Perfect!
The house salad dressing is an orange-balsamic, which is really yummy, sweet-tangy, and like none I have had before.
The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating as we came in without a reservation on a busy night. We sat on the bar side, which was casual, noisy, and good-natured. We were greeted with a large bowl of fresh popcorn, which was perfect as we were traveling and were very hungry from the get-go.
We will absolutely come back if we return to the area!  I will give it a 5 if the second visit is as good!!

Staff is fantastic. Food is really good and well priced. Friendly clientele, great feel. It seems like every time I go they have thought of a new small detail to make my visit more enjoyable.

Seems like a great meeting place amongst friends. Actually the noise becomes a bit annoying when crowded but otherwise decent food for the price and good beer at the bar. Certainly not slop and a bit of care put into your meal. I would swing by here again for a bite to eat.

Food was ok, not the best.  I got the sirloin steak with mushrooms and onions.  Mixed it with the mashed potatoes and gravy to give more flavor.
My compliment is the bar.  Wonderful bartenders who are extremely friendly and know their customers.  It felt like a neighborhood bar where they knew their clients drinks, flirted, and had a fun time even when the patrons got rowdy!

Good sandwiches, and it would be a great atmosphere if it weren't for the fact that the bar and the restaurant aren't separated enough so you hear awful touchtunes music while you're sitting in the nice rustic dining area.

Prices aren't spectacular, but definitely reasonable.

Its a great place, very casual and rustic decor. The first time for the four us. We all enjoyed the food. For an app try the cheesy spinach dip with nachos, fantastic! My entree was the delmonico steak, cooked to perfection. Amy our waitress was on the ball with everything.  They have a vast list of menu items to choose from chicken and biscuits to sea food.we were even delighted to see the staff was in the halloween mood and were all dressed up for the occasion.  The bar area was huge plenty of seating and bartenders to take orders. Would recommend to anyone tired of the same old franchise and experience jake's for a good time and great food.

The restaurant is definitely better than the bar. It's been a while since I have eaten here, but I remember the food being decent enough. Let's say I don't remember it being bad.

I've been to the bar here several times especially when I lived in the area. Maybe it's because it's so big, but I never found it to be a great hang out spot. It's a much better place if you're just coming in to eat. That said, there is plenty of room around the bar area if you wanted to just come in, have a beer, and watch the game. I just prefer other spots.

It's worth a stop in if you're in the neighborhood since I don't know of too many other places like it in the North Syracuse area.

I like this place.  In the bar there were plenty of TV's (especially on a big sports night) and the service was pretty good.  I looked in the dining room and this is the type of place to go and hang out with friends - kind of cave like and very comfortable.  The salad I got was nice, although I was looking forward to a few fork-size pieces of lettuce.  It still tasted good and it looks like the rest of the menu would give you plenty of choices. Plenty of parking!!  Thumbs-up for Jake Hafner's!  If you're in Syracuse - definitely hit the Tavern!

Hafner's is one of my favorite spots in the 'Cuse. A little spot outside the city with a nice bar and, most of the time, quality food.

Here's the deal, the bar is great. And the food, prepared by Shamus, is fantastic....most of the time.

I want to talk about the food here, though you can enjoy the bar minus the food. The menu consists of bar food (burgers, chips, etc) and all of it is to die for. And they also have 5 star food...crab cakes, Filet Mignon...and it's here that when Hafner's is on they can challenge anyone in the city for food quality. But they aren't always on. Last week's crab cakes were burned on the bottom and way, way, WAY too bready. A couple months back my Filet was way undercooked.

This hasn't stopped me from coming to Hafner's. The food can be excellent at an excellent price but consistency of quality is off.

I have sat at the bar here and ate in the restaurant side.
The meals I always had were good, cooked to perfection and had good flavor.
My mom ordered the Delmonico steak and she loved it (she is a very picky eater).
I order the buffalo chicken sanwich without the bun and am never disappointed. They also have tastey salads.

The bar area is very loud, but what do you expect at a bar?
It is a good place to go and watch games and hang out with friends.

Had good times at Hafner's when I visited The 'Cuse a few times during the last year, and my most recent trip to this fun bar last Thursday night was a blast too.

Hafner's is a super-casual woody old school sports bar with a mixed crowd.  You'll find plenty of devoted NY team fans here, but it doesn't seem to get unbearably crowded.  For example, I noticed several open booths and plenty of standing room space during Game 5 last week.

The large gravel lot makes parking a non-issue.

Don't you dare leave Hafner's without getting the sweet potato chips, trust me!  The chip texture is medium--not too soft but nowhere near hard like potato chips--and they come with a side of maple syrup for dunking.  Mmmm...

    Fun place.  Good times.

Hafner's has been a staple in my family for as long as I can remember.  Many Tuesday night dinners were spent here.  Ulee's Gold tried to rule trivia night.  Five years in a row we dined here for New Year's Eve.

Now as I grow in age I have moved from the dining room to the bar and I usually find myself there with friends almost every time I am home.

I am a huge fan of the portabello mushroom sandwich and the brownie sundae.  I like how they serve the sandwiches with chips and most are under $6.
