JC Tavern

I stopped by on a Saturday, sat down at the bar, and requested a non-alcoholic beer. To this, a Gothic-looking girl rudely replied "this is a bar." Screw that...I've seen better!
Plus, one of their regulars is a real scumbag who steals girls' purses and has a history of drug use. This I know for a fact and it has been reported to the police. I'd rather stay home.

I can honestly say as far as dives go, JC Tavern is a love it or leave it establishment, no frills bar with long bar, a couple tables and stools, billiards, jukebox, and working restrooms. Nothing else to it. The beer is cheap and the drinks (whiskey cola) are stiff enough to grow hair where there wasn't any before.

The people there are regulars and rovers, all in all, they friendly folks, with a nice vibe to this dark little corner of Downey. This is a great place for a solo run or a small group, as service is prompt and the place is very relaxed.

It has its own private lot on a strip mall, and will be the only place open late there along a lonely stretch of Telegraph. Smokes if you got them outside, though I hear its pretty lax about that. Worth a solid round of beers with the amigos.

Small, dark, and cheap! The way a dive bar should be!
When you enter you are greeted by everyone staring back at you with a TV back facing the entrance. The bar itself is quite small with a dart board stuffed in the front and a pool table squeezed in the back. The bar keep is extremely friendly making you feel right at home.
There are no beers on tap but the selection is nice for the area and happy hour is $2 domestics $3 imports, including Guinness!
This is a fun place to grab a cheap drink on your way somewhere else, I wouldn't want to stay too long here though.
