I got back on this site to see how Jeeves was doing... it turns out that they removed my review of the restaurant. Â When I called I was told that they were controlling their own marketing.
I mentioned that one of the only up sides to this restaurant was their bar manager, since that review not only have they gotten rid of the bar manager but also the chef owner and general manager. Â Which makes Jeeves, no longer locally owned and operated. Â
I believe the deletion of the general public's' opinion to be appalling.
This is an update from all the years that I have went to this restaurant, I will never return. Â The local chef was removed by a business partner and the food went way down hill. What was a great place has now become an over priced dud. Â Don't go and be overcharged for food that claims to be freshly prepared and fine dining. Â The buzz around town was returning and my last experience was terrible. Â When I asked to speak to the chef the server gave me the low down and as I stated we will not be back.
Review Source:I read the review from 2 years ago and there is a huge disappointing difference in this once exceptional restaurant. The atmosphere is almost sterile when you walk through what used to be the one and only entrance. There was always a huge, bright selection of seasonal gift items and a beautiful selection of chocolates. The feeling of being welcomed and then being fed well was always worth the trip from Louisville. I regarded it as a very special place on the level of Lynn's Paradise Cafe yet more refined. I don't know the history of why ownership changed, but before I asked, I knew that it was in new hands and something very wonderful was now very
lacking. The food is hardly worth mentioning. The sweet and attentive server couldn't make up for the 'who cares' attitude of the person who seated us. I really see no reason to ever return to Scottsburg to eat at Jeeves & Company.
This place is 100% WOW! The food, the service and the atmosphere are all fantastic. I had broiled Tilapia with angel hair pasta and asparagus florentine and it was far better than I expected. I couldn't believe I was eating food this well prepared in a small town in southern Indiana. Their only weakness - the wine selection. But, it was acceptable. Did I mention the dessert? Caramel apple pie with a dollop of both whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. I travel across the country and stay in both small towns and big cities and Jeeves & Co. is big city pizazz in a small town environment. A real jewel.
Review Source:Jeeves is the go to place for lunch in Scottsburg. Â Great location being close to the court house. Jeeves is convienient and it is a good stop for lunch, but it's just A-OK.
My old stand-by is the Grilled Chicken Breast on toasted French baguette with lettuce, tomato, onions, mayonnaise, and mustard. I usually get the fruit salad on the side. I think it's a little pricey at $7.95, but it's a healthy and pretty filling lunch.
I've also had their french onion soup and it was pretty tasty. It had a nice balance, not too salty or sweet.  I did the Soup du Jour special with 1/2 croissant sandwich  (ham and swiss) for around 6 bucks.
I have heard great things about the Chicken Fajita Salad which is lettuce on tortilla chips with tomatoes, fajita chicken strips, house salsa, and cheese. I've also wanted to try their warm baked brie with fruit and bread, but I never had time over lunch.
Service can be slow, but always friendly. Â They can get busy around lunch, but it's usually calm and quiet enough to converse and enjoy your meal with a slight hustle bustle feel.
We found this place by accident on our way home from Nashville, and it's one of our best finds! We planned our next vacation around making sure we could drive back through Scottsburg and re-visit Jeeves and Company!!! They have a cute little store in the front, with all sorts of fun things from kitty cutting boards to a flower-shaped plant stand to puppy tote bags to fudge and candies and teas! In the back is the restaurant with all this fun re-vamped antique furniture, and I believe everything is for sale - including your table, chairs, and the pictures on the walls! The service is average, but the food is great!
