I hadn't been in Joe's in maybe a decade or more (I thought it was less, but local historians tell me the "remodel" they did was a long time ago). I used to really like going there and I've always liked the family...lots of fun people hanging out, bands, shuffleboard, and a electronic bowling machine. Sadly, there is no shuffleboard and no electronic bowling.
Food
I stopped in for a beer on New Years and had a good time and I went again last night with a bunch of friends and we got pizza and wings and ate in the bar, and the food was really good. Hot wings could have been hotter, but the sauce is tasty. We also got some heart attack wings with cheese and garlic on them that were really good.
Service
I met Matt the bartender a while back and promised I would stop in and he is an excellent bartender and server...professional and attentive. The pizzas took awhile to come out, but there were people eating in the dining room...we probably should have let them know we were trying to catch a film (which we did by a whisker).
Decor
The decor is not great and pretty run down...graffiti in the men's rooms, no paper towels
Overall
Having worked in the restaurant business for a lot of years, I can tell you that it is tougher and tougher to run a family-restaurant...and to be successful, it seems the owners need to work a million hours every week. And I have chosen to look at what Joe's is -- good food, good drinks, good price, good service. ...not what it isn't. I'll take the grit of Joe's over Applebees anyday. I'll be back.
