The bar is open during the day and the kitchen opens at 5pm, along with happy hour and half-price appetizers in the bar area. We arrived around 4:45pm and were very warmly greeted. Having been driving all day through the national forest, we were starving. Our waitress offered us some warm french bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar to dip it in while we waited. They have a limited supply of taps but they were more than adequate considering how far off the beaten path we were. The staples such as Bud, Coors, etc. were there but also Long Coast's IPA and their tangerine brew for those who want something fruity. The IPA was excellent. For appetizers, we chose the duck wrapped in bacon with a slice of jalapeno. Wow...amazing!!! At 1/2 off, I nearly ordered a few more. But instead, I inquired about the calamari as I'm a bit of a calamari snob. They slice it fresh in house which was an instant sell for me. I'm veer away from the frozen kinds. Excellent again! By that time, we were already a bit full so we opted to share their bacon/onion straw/cheddar burger. Again...a home run! The burger was clearly made fresh and never frozen.

Along with happy hour going on and half price appetizers, they also honored the 10% off Yelp! coupon for checking in there. Very kind waitress, excellent food, and not a rowdy, crazy bar atmosphere. For only being in town a few hours, I feel like I got the best of what Weaverville had to offer. We only went here because we asked local store owners we were browsing where they recommended. This place was a consistent recommendation. It was a bit eery that many said something to the effect of "I've seen all the kitchens in this town....Johnsons' is the best, hands down." We were very happy and highly recommend!

Ate lunch here while visiting a friend a few weekends ago, four words:  crispy coconut shrimp tacos.  Big portions, and yummy food.  Win!

I am often in Weaverville for work and typically go here a couple of times. The food is really good however the service is very slow. Even during a quiet lunch hour, going out to lunch here usually takes a good hour just at the restaurant alone. Worth the wait and friendly staff. Also the bar is nice.

We had a party of seven and were seated by the delightful hostess.

Most of us have all been here before. This place is fairly well decorated considering this one is in a small town. This, however, is the best restaurant in town, We were seated with a great view of the golf course. A nine holer of moderate difficulty.

The waitress took our drink order and then brought our water and delicious bread, butter and a dip of balsamic sauce. The drinks were great and delivered fast.

The waitress then took our order.  There is a good variety of dishes available.  I had the prime rib  and it was very well cooked and flavorful. My wife had stuffed calamari which she said it was well cooked and delicious.  All of us enjoyed our meals.

The waitresses were all efficient and friendly.  The cook even dropped by to check on the food.  He was happy when he left the table.

We will all be back again.

We go to Johnson's several times a year. Through 3 seasons, we sit out on the patio overlooking the golf course and mountains. Neither of us is into golf, but shoot, it's Trinity county. We watch deer mosey across the course, and we really enjoy the vibe.

We ride our motorcycles there frequently, and lately we've noticed a tractor is often near where we park. It's that kind of an area:  BMW and Harley motorcycles, some trucks, a few cars, a tractor.

I had the steak salad and the meat was perfectly cooked. My Alpen Cellars (great winery to visit north of Trinity Lake!) riesling was quite nice. My husband had the mahi mahi with mango salsa. I rarely order fish in restaurants because it is so often over-cooked. This has been the case at Johnson's and our other Weaverville favorite, La Grange. But my husband took a chance and it was very good.

Last week, we hit Johnson's for their out-of-this-world burgers. Holy moly, they are a knockout. Thick, juicy, char-broiled, perfect fixings. Can't eat 'em every day, but what a treat!

I've been there 3 times in the last 6 months, each time deciding it might have been an "off day" for the staff. I won't go back again. This last time it took 45 minutes or more for our food to be brought out. Not once did the waitress offer to refill our waters, we watched as several tables of guests that showed up AFTER we did received their food before us.  Once our food finally arrived, it was cold, the bread was soggy and the chicken had entirely too much seasoning.
The bar was open, and they had one waitress working almost full time in there, or should I say socializing when she really should have been helping with the other customers.
They also had some maintenance going on outside this time, some sort of painting. The fumes of whatever chemical were being used were horribly obnoxious. Perhaps this type of maintenance/upkeep should be perfomed during a different part of the day.

Both my husband and I left with headaches, and as I said before, we will not return.

I took my 28 year old son and two of his friends to Johnson's Steak House to celebrate his birthday.  Everything from appetizer to dessert were top notch, but the steaks (we all ordered steak) were extraordinary!  The service was impeccable, the atmosphere convivial.  I would not hesitate to recommend this steak house to my friends and acquaintances.  You just can't go wrong.

When we arrived the young blond hostess said maybe she could serve us if we would wait in the bar for 15 minutes. We waited 15 minutes and she warned us we would have to wait another 15 minutes. She was really unsure and wouldn't give us eye contact. We should have taken the hint.
A half hour later we were seated.. Our server was a really nice lady who also moonlights at another local eatery-definitely the bright spot of the meal and took her job as consoler and bearer of bad news stoicly and kept a positive demeanor.
When we ordered she had to tell us they were out of potatoes-mashed and baked. They still had steak fries and rice she assured us. Twenty minutes after that she returned to tell us there was no rice left...
A STEAK HOUSE WITH NO STARCHES except fries...
It took a good hour and fifteen minutes to get our main dishes.
The shrimp and chicken I ordered were good but were accompanied with only zuchini. My lady ordered a steak and they brought her 4 measly peices of steak on her skewer. Her mom liked her pork loin but she said it didn't have much flavor.
Halfway through the meal someone started a fire outside in the pit and people walked in and out of the door right next to us for the next half hour, blowing cold drafts on us every few minutes. None of the servers acknowledged this crappiness and offered to move us or have people come in through another door..
What really annoyed me about the meal was that before we got our main course I went out to the car to get some chips(a first) to eat and the cooks were out there smoking cigarettes. The market is literally right around the corner! Go get some potatoes and cook those up if you have time for a smoke!
I understand the owner is dealing with health issues and wish him good health.

My advice to the owner or his wife... Shame on these employees for working for themselves and not your customers..Fire your chef or light a fire under his ass. Running out of staples like potatoes and rice is inexcusable. How hard is it to always have baked potatoes at all times in a steak house?  If you are going to charge 15 to 30 for steaks and other food make it worth a customers while. Train your hostess to level with people and tell them you are out of food. Give your waitress a thousand dollar bonus for trying to salvage the rest of your poor operation.
