Having just moved to the area, I was actually planning on having dinner at another establishment, but it has gone out of business (Pay your rent people.). It was with a feeling of disappointment (I was craving crab cakes) that I decided on JT's as an alternative. Â
Walking up I could hear live music, and it was just right. Â I hate walking into a place hungry only to have a band that's too loud rattling my brain. Â I was immediately greeted with a big smile by a very friendly young lady. Â I asked if it was ok to dine at the bar and she said it was, then offered me a menu. Â The place was steady with what appeared to be a lot of poker playing. Â I easily found a seat at the bar. Â I was greeted pretty quickly, ordered a beer and was served my drink fairly quickly. Â It took a few minutes before the bartender came back to take my food order. Â I ordered an appetizer and it was out fairly quickly. Â I was still a bit hungry, and picked up the menu again. Â I noticed the disclaimer about wings taking 15 minutes on the front cover. Â It's a good idea, but just in case someone doesn't look at the cover, it might be a good idea to find a way to get that disclaimer in the wing section of the menu too. Â The wings arrived a shade under 15 minutes, and they were exactly as I had hoped, crispy on the outside.
I don't have many complaints. Â The bartender who served me was great. Â The other bartender seemed busy doing other things. Â A couple of times, other patrons would come by and slam an empty shot glass or beer bottle on the bar next to me, but i expect that. Â Grabbing a beer and sone wings alone at a neighborhood spot can be an adventure. Â
With tons of tv's on the walls, I'm sure that JT's is a great spot to watch a game. Â
Overall, my expectations were exceeded. Â I'm sure I'll be back, although probably earlier in the day.
Love this place!
My wife and I own a home in the North Buttercup area and come her quite often. We bring our little 13 month old and everyone there is so friendly. Drinks are reasonable- usually only drink beer. Not a huge selection of beers and no real micro brews. But, I can go to The Dig for those.
The food is average in my opinion. The burgers are great according to my wife. I normally get the Pulled Pork sliders and find them really tasty. However, the other day we ordered the nachos- big mistake. I don't know if the they had an inexperienced cook, but those nachos were terrible. Seriously, how do you mess up on nachos? We ordered them with chicken and they came in a burger basket- WTF? A basket? Who serves nachos in a basket? We aren't at a football game. Seriously though, they were small and full of lettuce. There was very little cheese and no salsa. Oh, and Hormel Chili was slopped on. These nachos were nearly $10 dollars too. Now, hopefully this was just an off night, because if those are really the nachos, that is a crime to charge nearly $10. absolutely no way to justify that.
Still love the place, but I guess I will stick to cheap beer and sliders.
I gave 3 stars because I am a regular here, but the service the other night was horrible. Â I was in the poker section with a waitress named Abby and she not only never came to refill drinks, she would talk back to you and she just sat there on the table and played on her phone. Â I usually love this place and the service, but this server has made me reconsider going there all together.
Review Source:I moved to the Cedar Park area about 6 months ago. Â There are very few "dive bars" in the area. Â When I say dive bar, I'm not meaning that in a negative way. Â I like to relax, in a dark lit bar with a bunch of Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Miller Light, Bud Light, and Jack daniels signs. Â With some good music playing in the background. Â That to me, is a bar. Â Being from a small east texas town, its a little slice of home for me.
I first went to JT's for the start of the Dallas Cowboys football season. Â I had never been before and decided to have a group of buddies meet up there for a few drinks. Â This was a great time, and everyone enjoyed it.
I've been a few times since then, but yesterday really sold me on JT's. Â I brought a group of guys from work and we ate/drank there for about 5 hours. Â Our waiter, who I forget his name, delivered probably the best service I've had in austin at a bar. Â I'l get his name and update the post, but hes the guy that moved here from Hawaii. Â Very chilled laid back dude with a great attitude. Our drinks were never empty, he knew everything about the food and the menu and even offered suggestions on low carb meals for myself.
The food is also not just crappy bar food, it is actually pretty good. Â My new go to bar is JT's Sportsgrille. Â The only thing that could make it better, and why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the bathrooms. Â They need to be bigger, especially in a bar. Â Having 1 urnial and one stall is not ideal in that type of setting. Â However, if all I can complain about is the bathroom, then yall are doin something right.
I had a headache going in, but kept an open mind. The food we had was good, i had the nachos, my DH had a burger. He changed it all kinds of ways, and it came out just the way it was ordered. The buffalo balls were amazing!!!! then we played poker for a long time! They had live music but we stayed inside this time.
Review Source:I've gone here a couple more times since my first visit and feel like I needed to update my review. Â The guacamole and chicken sliders were pretty bland. Â The guacamole tasted like mashed avocado. Â I'm not sure if there was anything else in it. Â I think the fried pickles were okay, but nothing memorable. Â The french fries are still really good. Â
One of my big struggles was when I wanted to make a substitution. Â This threw off the waitress. Â I wanted a bbq sauce, bacon burger but with grilled chicken instead of beef. Â I'm fine with an increase in price, just trying to be a little healthy. Â Well, I got the grilled chicken and bbq sauce, but nothing else. Â It was still tasty, I was just a little bummed.
This place always seems to be in a state of chaos. Â I'm not sure if they are remodeling, but if so, it has been taking a long time.
Yeah, that guy in the corner with the facial hair chin strap looking like Whitey Ford/Everlast from House of Pain is eyein' your girl.
It's a bar for sure and so/so grill. Gets busy, nice outdoor covered deck. I do not go often, but a good back up... And one if few bars that actually stays open until 2 in cedar park.
Pool, TV's, a few video games.
Like a few others I bought the Groupon, and went to try the food. Â I've been here a couple times, but just to grab a quick beer...never to eat.
Went in on a Tuesday evening a little after 6pm, was seated quickly, either by the owner or a manager. Â "Would you like us to change the t.v. channel so your kids can watch cartoons?" Yes please that would be great! Â Good start, I'm thinking. Â 15 min go by and no one has been to our table...no big deal, the kids are content. Â I go to the bar and order a beer and a couple waters, ask the bartender for a menu. Â Get that, 10 min go by, I go back up to the bar and place our order. Â 20 min later the food comes. It's what I expected for a "grill". Â The food was good, my sons chicken wings were really tasty. Fries were good, and tons of them.
Now, almost finished with our meal, our "waitress" comes over and apologizes for not have come over sooner. Â Huh? We are an hour into this. Â So i order another draft beer, which the bartender brings me, take a couple drinks, then notice a huge lipstick mark on the other side of the glass. I take it back to the bartender, who laughed and said "gross" and replaced it.
Comes to find out Tuesday's are kids eat free nights, I had no idea, but we were the only people on that side of the restaurant. Â There were a handful of people on the other side playing live poker. Â The entire staff were catering to the poker players, which I totally get, but if you want to run a grill as well as a bar, things have to be run a little tighter than this. Â Not enough staff working is not the staff's fault, it's the manager/owners. Â
In the end, the bartender comped my meal, as well as the kids eat free discount. Â I didn't ask for that, and was not expecting it, BUT she also charged me for the lipstick beer? Â
Not sure if we will venture back to eat...doesn't seem like that's a priority with JT's at this time.
Great hamburger, fries and onion rings. Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with a Goupon and it was well worth going back for full price. Owner came over and talked to us which was a nice touch. Service could have been faster, but not a  big deal.
One of the best burgers I have had in a while.
Tried to go back here to watch another fight. Walked in the door and the TVs had the fight promos on but not the actual fight. Waited at the hostess station for a good 5 minutes before anyone bothered coming to help us. And the whole time we were standing there we saw 2-3 employees just hanging around the bar trying to flirt with the clientele, not working. Finally someone acknowledged us and confirmed that they would not be showing the fight.
I guess the moral of the story is to call ahead. And be a female wearing skimpy clothes if you want service.
Not as much of a Billiards place as it used to be. Only 3 quarters tables now. More of a sports bar with plenty of TVs. They also have a few other games to keep you entertained (Foosball, darts, golden tee, punching bag, basic arcade games). Has live music and karaoke sometimes. The food is not bad, nothing extraordinary but good. I like contenders and dig but i find myself coming here more often, i think it's less crowded and more laid back. Nice neighborhood bar.
Review Source:I don't think its healthy for a place to smell like vomit and wood-chips. I smelt like someone had crawled into the vents and vomited in there and they have yet to find it. I also asked the bartender if they had ciders. She looked at me like I was dumb and said "Like apple juice?" I said "No like Hardcore, Woodchuck or something" She still didn't get it. I stuck with a jack and coke.
Overall the bar was okay. Staff wasn't very friendly nor were the really rude. I would have to say I am shocked that a bartender has no clue what a Cider is and that it smells really bad in there. Its like a frat house on a Sunday Morning.
