Having just moved to the area, I was actually planning on having dinner at another establishment, but it has gone out of business (Pay your rent people.). It was with a feeling of disappointment (I was craving crab cakes) that I decided on JT's as an alternative. Â
Walking up I could hear live music, and it was just right. Â I hate walking into a place hungry only to have a band that's too loud rattling my brain. Â I was immediately greeted with a big smile by a very friendly young lady. Â I asked if it was ok to dine at the bar and she said it was, then offered me a menu. Â The place was steady with what appeared to be a lot of poker playing. Â I easily found a seat at the bar. Â I was greeted pretty quickly, ordered a beer and was served my drink fairly quickly. Â It took a few minutes before the bartender came back to take my food order. Â I ordered an appetizer and it was out fairly quickly. Â I was still a bit hungry, and picked up the menu again. Â I noticed the disclaimer about wings taking 15 minutes on the front cover. Â It's a good idea, but just in case someone doesn't look at the cover, it might be a good idea to find a way to get that disclaimer in the wing section of the menu too. Â The wings arrived a shade under 15 minutes, and they were exactly as I had hoped, crispy on the outside.
I don't have many complaints. Â The bartender who served me was great. Â The other bartender seemed busy doing other things. Â A couple of times, other patrons would come by and slam an empty shot glass or beer bottle on the bar next to me, but i expect that. Â Grabbing a beer and sone wings alone at a neighborhood spot can be an adventure. Â
With tons of tv's on the walls, I'm sure that JT's is a great spot to watch a game. Â
Overall, my expectations were exceeded. Â I'm sure I'll be back, although probably earlier in the day.
Love this place!
My wife and I own a home in the North Buttercup area and come her quite often. We bring our little 13 month old and everyone there is so friendly. Drinks are reasonable- usually only drink beer. Not a huge selection of beers and no real micro brews. But, I can go to The Dig for those.
The food is average in my opinion. The burgers are great according to my wife. I normally get the Pulled Pork sliders and find them really tasty. However, the other day we ordered the nachos- big mistake. I don't know if the they had an inexperienced cook, but those nachos were terrible. Seriously, how do you mess up on nachos? We ordered them with chicken and they came in a burger basket- WTF? A basket? Who serves nachos in a basket? We aren't at a football game. Seriously though, they were small and full of lettuce. There was very little cheese and no salsa. Oh, and Hormel Chili was slopped on. These nachos were nearly $10 dollars too. Now, hopefully this was just an off night, because if those are really the nachos, that is a crime to charge nearly $10. absolutely no way to justify that.
Still love the place, but I guess I will stick to cheap beer and sliders.
I gave 3 stars because I am a regular here, but the service the other night was horrible. Â I was in the poker section with a waitress named Abby and she not only never came to refill drinks, she would talk back to you and she just sat there on the table and played on her phone. Â I usually love this place and the service, but this server has made me reconsider going there all together.
