OMG, the worst service ever! Â We went Sunday night around 7pm, the restaurant was completely empty except few guys at the bar with a young female bartender. Â It took awhile for the bartender to come and take our order and, at the same time, we were served totally stale chips with salsa. Â I am Korean and most items on the menu was Korean food so I asked the waitress if she knew the items on the menu. Â She said there is no Korean waitress but we can place our order with her. Â We order few items from the menu, the bartender (young blond with horrible attitude problem) goes "ok, uh huh, ok" after each food item we order but didn't write down anything so we assumed she was memorizing our order. Â After we gave her all of our order, she then says, "you know I don't know what you ordered so can you give me the number (food is numbered in the menu) of the food you want?" Â WHY DID SHE WAIT UNTIL WE FINISHED ORDERING TO TELL US THIS???? Â Totally weird. Â Well, some of the food items we wanted was not available, service very slow, food tasted bad, Â waitress/bartender had a major attitude problem, atmosphere was horrible. Â Will never go there again. I can't imagine this place lasting too long..
Review Source:Had a very bad experience at this place.
We were there around 8 pm, and the place was empty except one table, which was a bad sign. Â A young blonde waitress brought us chips and salsa, and the chips were stale (chewy, not crispy), which was another bad sign. Â
We ordered typical Korean food -- tong dak, ddukbokee, donkatsu, and denjang jjigae. Â After a while, the waitress came back and said that they did not have the rice cakes to make ddukbokee. Â We said we would just eat the remaining 3 items. Â She then came back and said that they could not make the donkatsu either. Â In other words, they couldn't provide 2 of the 4 items we ordered. Â Instead of being apologetic, the waitress was very rude and insulting.
We said we would like to cancel the food order, and pay for the beer and leave. Â She insisted we pay for the 2 items that had not come out yet. Â We said that our children had wanted to eat the dishes that weren't available (pork cutlet and spicy rice cakes) and they didn't want to eat there anymore. Â In a very condescending voice, she said: Â "they are humans, they can eat anything." Â WTF! Â
We asked to speak to the owner, and he came out. Â He allowed us to cancel the order, but his tone was unfriendly and demeaning. Â We left vowing never to go back.
Great Find. I have now had two birthday celebrations here and both times were fun, fun, fun. Â Ice cold pitchers of Hite Beer, Korean short ribs, wings, and great chips and salsa. Â Our server (cute blonde) was attentive, and helpful. Â Most of my group is not the sports bar type but really enjoy coming here and feel welcomed. Â Oh, and the fruit plate birthday cake tasted so good on hot day. Â Thank you Jug Jug for making my B-day cool.
Review Source:Don't judge a book by its cover.
I mean I almost did when we drove up this place and the outside looked the way it did. Plus the people walking out at the time didn't look so friendly either. Had to ask my friend "R you sure this place is cool "
Glad we walked in though, the interior is much friendlier with half restaurant and half bar areas. Friendly looking people behind the bar and the waitresses were good looking too. So this is a Korean Restaurant / Bar. The big theme being Soju and Beer.
Alot of different deals to try and give you a 2nd pitcher of beer for 1cent. Yes you heard me a pitcher of Beer for 1cent. Or Soju for 1cent.
Thursday Nights are DJ night and he was doing an amazing job of keeping us entertained. saw tip jar and something that says he can take request. After a few pitchers we made use of that request sheet.
The Good
2nd Pitcher for 1Cent
or switch that 2nd pitcher for Soju
The Bad
Their Fries were horrible.
Umn... I think we ordered something else and my beer memory remembers it being not so great either.
Still had a blast though so I would definitely come back.
Seriously? If schizophrenia was a bar..
When you enter it's a sports bar on the left, sushi bar on the right, they serve chips and salsa to start, and end with buffet style food and a fine dining bill. All while ghetto ass music is blasting your head off. That is right Mr. and Mrs. Customer screw you.
Seriously, fried rice with scrambled eggs is not worth $14. You'll have to water it down with soy sauce, throw the dish out the window and shoot it with a shotgun to get any kind of fulfillment from the food.
i wish there was a place like this near me! ok, so the food is a little pricey, but thats typical of korean restaurants. but this place also has happy hour and drink specials, which kind of makes up for the pricey food, especially during game time! 1 cent pitcher or bottle of soju if the lakers or clippers win! i heard they did that for the dodgers too, so im sure its dependent on the sporting season.
the owner happen to be there the day we went and he was super nice. i really like the neighborhood feel of this place, everyone is super friendly. we came on the day the lakers played the clippers and while there were more laker fans than clipper fans, everyone got along great and had a fabulous time. i like the sports bar feel of this korean restaurant, which you dont see very often. you even get chips and salsa for free! they put some kind of relish in their salsa which makes it a bit sweet, so if you like spicy salsa, you might want to add hot sauce to it. i actually enjoyed the sweetness of the salsa so i didnt mind it at all. we did order food to grub as well: the bulgogi, kimchi tofu and seafood pancake. they were all good (but not spectacular). pitchers of Hite was only $12.99 and since the Clippers won, we got the 2nd pitcher for only 1 cent.
The server we had was a very nice lady who was super patient with us. I give her props for handling all the tables on this afternoon by herself. She did great! I noticed that they have specials on certain nights as well...DJ's on Saturday, girls night on Fridays. Â I will definitely have to come back here again whenever I'm visiting my friends here.
Happy hours with a girlfriend.
I finally came back for some food and drinks, my last encounter was really short.
Well, there was us 3 girls at the bar, 6 guys on the other end of the bar, and 1 booth on the floor was occupied. Â My girlfriends and I couldn't get any of the worker's attention for some drinks or menu. Â We were right in front of them at the bar, but they had passed by us a few times before we "excused ourselves" for some service please!! Â
We ordered a Hef and some Soju, to relax and to enjoy the rest of our stay. Â We all shared the seafood spicy tofu soup, the crystal noodle with beef, and spicy chicken wings that my friend had recommend. Â Needless to say, the food was definitely not a disappointment. Â The soup was good on a cold windy night. Â The wings were spicy but yummy.
I went to Jug Jug with friend on a Friday night at about 7:00 PM. The restaurant was not crowded and there was hardly anyone there. We were ignored for at least 15 minutes and I finally got up and asked the three waitresses at the bar to at least bring us some menus and water.
It took another few minutes and we finally got some menus. Then, I tried to order a Chardonnay, foolishly thinking that it was a restaurant and bar. I was informed that they had no white wine at all and that I could only get Sake. We ordered and the food was ok.
I have been to a lot of Korean restaurants but none that did not serve sides. This is the worst restaurant, Korean or otherwise, that I have ever been to. The bill was $63.00 and we had two small dishes, beer and sake. I would never go back and I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone or even the bar. These people could care less about their customers.

This joint is truly for the "I just turned 21," crowd. Very rude waitresses and they continue to change every time. You need to request service, which is never a good thing. Â The food is hardly worth trying, unless you have not eaten all day and are starving. If you want quicker service, just try stepping outside for a smoke, and they will then flock to you asking for a credit card, even though they have cameras everywhere!
Review Source:I have been there numerous of times to watch sports, eat, and drink beer. Â But on the nights when they have the DJ there, my time at Jug Jug becomes better. Â Not only the DJ plays his sets, he takes request. Â He's like a juke box without paying and waiting to listen to the songs you want to hear. Â This DJ plays it right away. Â A great local place that I can go to to enjoy my night.
Review Source:I used to love this place when it first opened a few years ago, but when I went back today I hated my experience there.
The food is okay now. I had the whole roasted chicken but its pretty dry.
I really am not one to complain, but the service here has got to be the worst I have ever experienced in my whole life. Me and my friend come in and sit at a booth, and it took us 5-10 minutes to get our menu. I had to walk up to the bar to get their attention. So they send someone over to give us our menus, but she doesn't even take our order for drinks. She leaves and it's like we never see her again.
I had to walk up to the bar and ask for our waitress to serve us again!
The waitresses/bartenders weren't apologetic at all and asked if I was sitting if I was sitting at Table 6.
How the heck am I supposed to know where Table six is?!?!
She brought our food without bringing our water, didn't give us the right utensils, and she had to come back and forth at least three times because she always forgot something (I'm not exaggerating).
She checked up on us once because she knew we were getting so irritated.
And we had to wait for my check to come. Again. So I just went up front and paid by the bar.
They got zero tip.
I came here to meet up with some friends and while it initially wasn't my choice I am down to try anything once. Discovered the beer selection is passable and they have some pretty good deals if a la sports team wins but that's where it stops. My friend and I ordered the chicken fried rice and Kim chi tacos. The fried rice was swimming in butter. I really am not kidding about that. Looking at it I knew my stomach would hate me the next day (it did). The tacos were cold... all of it. While I understand kim chi is a cold item the taco shells should not be. They are not good when served cold. I don't know what taco is. The wait staff was nice but that and the beer selection was not enough to compensate the okay fried rice, the cold tacos and the pain my stomach had the next day from too much grease. Not a fan
Review Source:Pretty good spot to watch sports and have a beer. Full menu of Korean fare.
Had the Kimchi tacos and they were really good! The Shrimp and Mushroom skewers were not impressive at all though! But others were eating wings and they looked great!
We even got a free pitcher of beer because thee Dodgers won while we were there.
Why only 3 stars? Place needs cleaning around tables bad! Wish I hadn't looked at the walls, they needed a intervention with Mr. Clean!!!
I really can't think of any other place within 15 miles I'd rather drink at.
The food is legit. Â The deals are legit (BOGO beer pitchers and soju on Saturdays?!). Beer selection is pretty legit. Â Music on Friday's and Saturdays is a great addition. Â The service is legit too! Free dumdums!
You can't go wrong!
My food recommendations still stand: Â Fried gizzard, chicken wings with spicy sauce on the side, cheese corn (JUST TRY IT), and kimchi with pork.
I love this place because it's close to home, casual, and I always have a good time. The owner, Duke, is really cool and there every night. My first time there he gave us a free pitcher. The food is a little expensive and when you drink you get hungry so it adds up, but there are so many pros that this one con isn't substantial enough to take away a star. I like the spicy wings and short ribs the most.
My favorite thing about this place is that they have beer pong. You can ask to play on any night as long as they're not crowded because they have to clear tables in the back area to set up. But beer pong night is Thursdays, and you buy two pitchers get the third free.
Many of their customers are regulars, and I'm on my way of becoming one too!
This will definitely be my new spot for UFC fights! I watched the Jones/Evans fight here and the people and vibe were both awesome! Not sure why there were any people that thought Evans was going to win, but I guess some people just can't help rooting for the underdog. The $25/person minimum was a little annoying, but definitely understandable since the place was packed. It made me not leave a tip though (sorry ladies!). I might go there for the NBA playoffs (Go Lakers!), but I can't imagine going there just to hang out since it's pretty pricey. All in all a very positive experience.
Review Source:SERViCe SuCKs!!! My first impression was ruined by the inattentive waitress with her freshly made tattoo. Soon as i got in, she said how many from across the room, then i stood a good 5minutes at the door by 2 empty reserved tables while she went to the bar pulling out bar stools. Finally, she said I could sit at a table that has been ready by the bar. She gave me 1 menu and said she'll be back with chips and salsa. 10-15 minutes later, she came back sans chips to take our order. She mentioned the cover charge or min $25/each. While we were telling her our order she saw her friends at the door, got excited and told them to sit at the reserved tables. Obviously not focused and seemed eager to hang w her friends. Took awhile to get our pitcher that we had to follow up on it with a diff lady who brought us the promised chips. After that, we had to follow up with other waitresses and who also got our bill. She only came back after the fight was done and asked with a smile if we needed anything else. By that time, others had beat her to it.
FOOD: We were pleased with the combo. Wings and Ribs were great! I would go back for that. The Tacos were lame. $15 rip off!!! What a disappointment. Don't get it. It's not worth it. It's supposed to be the best one, but looked and tasted blah.
PPV: $10 cover or $25/head order. Flat screens all around.
OVERALL, I feel sorry for the owners of this place. Only suggestion is they train their waitress and servers and not let them loose just like that.
I use to like this place, but things have changed since I was last there in May 2011. Â They got rid of the happy hour on weekends, plus they charge $10 cover or $25 minimum purchase per person, when there is a PPV event. Â I wasn't happy with it, but me and my wife will spend about $50 between the two of us anyway. Â
My sister gets there with a minute left on the main event, she was there to eat, not to see the fight. Â They tried to charge us an extra ten dollars, when our bill was $72.70. Â First of all, she wasn't there for the fight, and if I was the owner and saw the bill was only $2.30 short of $75, I would have not charged the $10 bucks. Â Especially, when she said she saw when my sister came in, that she saw the last minute of the fight. Â
She ended up not charging it, but shaking her head that she wasn't happy about it. Â She just made things uncomfortable for no reason. Â She knew when my sister came, and she saw the bill, she should have not even charge us in the first place, and especially not make a big deal out of it, when I asked her about the charge. Â Anyways, it's just not good business. Â I liked the place before they got all cheap with everything. Â Taking the happy hour away on the weekends, grabbing a credit card from you right at the beginning when you are there to dine-in, and charging for PPV events. Â I just left with a bad taste in my mouth. Â
Plus, the waitress were horrible today, they would ask you to get more beer, right at a knockout & submission. Â It happen twice, it's like they knew the perfect time to bother you. Â Then our order was suppose to come with seaweed soup, but they waitress said it didn't. Â I went to check the menu again, and yes it was. Â Anyways, all these things added together equals that we will never be back there again. Â It's too bad, I wanted to like this place for PPV events or when friends come by, not anymore.
Because of their changes, they will end up losing so many customers. Â It definitely wasn't as crowded as before, and so many people were questioning their bill at the end. Â They should let people know about the cover charge or minimum order, right when the sit down. Â Instead of making things uncomfortable at the end. Â I hope they read this and implement some changes before they have to close down.
Went yesterday for the first time, I have been meaning to go for a long time now, and was really happy with what I saw and got.
A real fun / cute sports bar in GH. Â Good food, I had the spicy chicken wings, which has a Korean flare to it, and a basket of fries with a cold beer. Â VERY DE-LISH!
Definatley will be going back to try more on the menu. Â They chips and salsa they serve are really good too, it's a sweet salsa that has a asian zing to it, very yummy!
Good times, glad I went!
CHEERS
Jug Jug is a nish nish in my book.
They have beer here.. but I wouldn't recommend coming here for a beer.
They have food here.. but I wouldn't recommend coming here for the food.
Quite frankly, if you don't live within a 1/2 mile radius from this joint, it doesn't make much sense to come here.
Do you know what "sad" tastes like? Well your fellow yelp friend/pal/buddy/amiga/homegirl is here to tell you since I single handedly experienced it when I ordered these sad looking tacos: http://www.yelp.com/biz_…. They also give you chips & watered-down, sweet-ketchup tasting salsa to munch on.
Your Homegirl,
Violy
Best of both worlds!!!! Â Finally somewhere we can go to get some good Korean eats and watch the game.
I've literally passed this place a bunch of times and now that we've moved into the neighborhood, I had to check this place out.
We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Â Of course, there wasn't any sort of sporting event going on so we missed the "crowd". Â Although, there was a group of Korean gents who stopped in after their 9 holes of golf.
We sat ourselves at a booth and ordered:
-Chicken Wings (Spicy and regular - the kitchen made an exception) Â The spicy wings are the way to go. Â And the cabbage "salad" that came with it? Oh. so. good.
-Soon Tofu Seafood Soup - I've had better.
-Galbi (BBQ Short Ribs)- Always a winner.
-Pork Tacos - Hubby seemed to enjoy them.
The only thing I did wish for here was for the soup and Galbi to be offered as a combo (you know to save a few bucks) but it didn't. Â So our lunch was a pricey one...$60ish but we did order a lot of food.
Overall, this is a great neighborhood spot to catch games, highlights, beer and a ton of great Korean eats. Â We are definitely returning.
I'm not a big drinker, but I am a fairly established eater (One beer and I'll be buzzed for days). Â They have an impressive selection of domestic and specialty beers, and they do have pretty good deals on pitchers. Â On to the food.
They've got a pretty good selection of Korean bar foods that range from snacks and finger foods to full-blown meals and stews. Â If Korean food sounds like it's a bit too adventurous, just grow-up a bit; some of the foods are familiar (fried chicken wings, asian-fusion tacos, chips and salsa).
I gave them a solid "4" because of one reason: the oysters and pork plate. Â I have to be completely honest, I love oysters, but I do know the risk of eating them when they are even slightly past their peak freshness. Â As I was eating these oysters, there was the lingering thought in the back of my mind of waking up in the middle of the night in a mad sprint to the bathroom, but no such incident occurred. Â They oysters were fresh and delicious, and were reasonably priced.
Having fresh oysters available week-round really is quite impressive, and it probably speaks to the quality and care that goes into this bar.
i came here with a group of friends after a wedding (bride and groom don't drink... ) and it was SO FUN.
the food was amazing (after 9 shots of soju) and i love that they don't only have korean food. they have chips and salsa and french fries!
what i really like about the place is that there are non korean people that go. thats pretty rare for the san fernando valley... but it was nice seeing a korean sports bar with non korean customers and waitresses.
Hubby and I ended up here after having a few drinks at The Norwood in North Hills. Â We had been hearing from some of our barfly friends that this place was pretty cool, so we had to check it out.
They only serve beer here, and the menu was surprisingly large for a sports bar. Â Most of the food did seem to be Korean, or Korean influenced anyway, despite some of the reviews claiming it is typical bar food. Â Perhaps typical Korean bar food?
We ordered the ribs, both boneless and bone-in, the chicken wings, and the chicken kimchi tacos. Â
The ribs were delicious! The boneless version was tender and served in a delicious spicy-sweet sauce with green onions over rice. Â The bone-in version was a little tougher, but just as tasty.
The chicken wings were by far the winning dish. Â Spicy, slightly sweet, crunchy. The sticky sauce just begged to be licked off your fingers! Â Yum. . .
The corn shell used for the taco could have used a little warming, but the filling was delicious. Â
Cold beer, good food. . . Â I will definitely be back!
My friends and I simply love this place, is super cozy and great place to hang out/chill with friends. Â And yes the food is a bit pricey but you're paying for quality food and not quantity. Â Also, they play the major UFC PPV with a $10 cover charge which is fair. Â All the servers are really nice and attentive especially "Ana".
Hungry, no problem, the Kabi BBQ and the spicy chicken wings are our favorites and they're delicious. Â So, if you want a cool place to chill with friends then you can't go wrong at Jug Jug.
It's not the greatest sports bars but not the worst.
They serve Korean food here but it's a bit pricey. I really wouldn't recommend coming here for food. Plus you never expect food to be good at a bar anyway.
There's about 6-8 different beers on tap and they serve plenty of soju there too. If you're in the valley and don't want to drive out to Koreatown for a night of debauchery, this place will do.
LAKERS AND UFC AND GIANT MUGS OF BEER OH MY!
Though I may have never eaten food (other than the chips and what they like to call "salsa") here, I definitely come here for the huge cups of tasty beer. 32oz. mugs, the next size up is 56 oz, that's a pitcher if you were wondering.... They hoegaarden, and usually pyramid heffe, and other really tasty varieties.
It gets REALLY crowded during games and fights, but the have special promotions, like jug jug's buys you a beer if the lakers win or something like that. But I mean slammed, and the bar is TINY. So if you want to watch the game go early!
I frequent this joint quite a bit and I admit that I enjoy it here...very interesting theme to this restaurant because it serves Korean food but has the feel of a local sports bar with great selections of beer on tap (Hoegaarden-personal fav)! If there is a drawback it would have to be the prices...a bit expensive for Korean food but the portions are generous.
Oh, also there are great promos during Laker games...each table will receive a pitcher of beer for a penny when they win!
All in all...good place to hang out and have a couple of beers or Soju!
We went to have a drink, catch a game, and have some dinner. Â
The service was horrlble...I almost hate to say this, but since our group was neither Korean, nor all men, we got ignored...and we are a diverse group of people who eat out often with no issues at all.
I cant speak to the drinks, as we never got any. Â We waited quite a while and watched a number of other parties both order and get their food and drinks. Â It became rather funny.
We were really excited to have a local hang out and sports bar and we love Korean food. Â We were so excited. Â It seems as though we will have to keep looking...
I came here with a Korean friend, and I'm surprised that I had never seen or heard of this place before, seeing as I drive down this street when visiting my father at work.
The waitresses were all really friendly and cute, the food was pretty good, and I can't argue with a pint of Newcastle. Sure, it was Sunday, so there wasn't a good crowd, but I didn't mind the relaxed atmosphere at all.
Come for the fried chicken and the good beer...also the soju and great beer selection. I can't wait to come back again and try some more of their food.
So I'm going from 4 to 2. It's pretty simple...in the 2 months that I haven't been here (I'm from the area, but go to school up north), they've gotten a new staff who are pretty unorganized--it's like a free for all. The food is still expensive, there is no liquor, and beer can be had elsewhere. And my favorite waitress is no longer there. I have no reason to go back. So I probably won't.
Review Source:Pretty much the only Korean bar in the area. Â Can you really expect much from a Korean bar in the Valley?
The beer selection is actually pretty impressive for a Korean bar, most Korean bars just serve Hite and OB. Â The food is just okay and expensive for what it is. Â The Korean fried chicken is pretty good though. Â Even though the staff is all Korean and they play mostly K-Pop, they do try to cater toward the non-Korean crowd. Â Except for a few items on the menu, it really isn't Korean food. Â It also doesn't look like your typical Korean bar. Â It looks more like a TGIF.
The crowd is mostly Korean or Asian but there are a few non-Asians. Â The age group is either really old or really young. Â The people in between usually go else where. Â Sometimes the place is littered with lil wannabe Asian gangstas. Â Don't mind them too much. Â Think of them as entertainment. Â They'll give you a laugh or two.
It is okay for what it is. Â If you live in the area and don't want to drive an extra 20-30 minutes to Koreatown, this is the place to go. Â There really isn't a choice.
This bar blows. Service sucks, the waitresses barely speak English, which is expected at Korean bars, but still frustrating nonetheless.
Oh, and did I mention the blaring Korean break-up music ALL NIGHT LONG?!?! Â
The only redeeming factor is the wide variety of beer they have on tap, but you can get that at any sports bar, without the annoying K-pop, and better service.
And..., they don't have their liquor license. So it's only BEER and SOJU.
Another reason to stay far away from the valley... it's a totally different kind of scary.
