COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL ON ALL LEVELS ...

James seemed laid back and friendly as I wanted him to do music to my words. We agreed to do one song and see how it went.
We emailed a bunch and then had a meeting and then I was to spend a half day starting out our session. He said it was $200 a track and that would include mastering and he was willing to work 10 hours or however long it took till i liked it.
I played (while sitting with him) music I like and exact bits I was hoping for
After driving the half hour out of LA to meet James cut the meeting short at 2 hours
Asked for $100 upfront and said he was going out of town for three weeks
Great, so glad i just spent the time getting here. Also if you are to sit in front of a computer using logic or pro tools, it would be nice if he had an extra chair so you can actually work on it together.

A day or so later, he emailed me  this rap pop I don't know what that had most of my professional musician friends laughing and something i I would not do myself in garage band.  He  said he would get me something different before he left for NYC . That never happened.  

The demo James  sent me was the complete opposite of every adjective I described and the complete opposite of every song i played him. After literally playing him songs and bits of music i liked which he had not listened to for our meeting. If he calls himself a producer and of all the things I quoted and literally played for him.  This was like something he did in less than 5 minutes and demonstrated he had no idea what I wanted

I waited the three weeks till he was back in town contacted him and asked for the money back ..i didnt think this was going to work
He apologized said no hard feelings and  he offered to work again; I declined.
He said he would mail me the $100 back and never did
Never did...I didn't take him for a  liar

Not professional,the music, the communication , the studio

dont waste your time here, go to a professional studio
All that time driving and trying communicate and then being lied to
Equates to a lot more than $100.00

James was so patient and professional. The Writer's Circle class he hosts on Sundays was an unpretentious group of people really creating something. It's a great space with allot of character and space to chill when others are recording. Get your tracks made here!
