We enjoyed a nice meal here on Valentine's Day. Â
The Good:
-Beautiful presentation
-Food was unique, with wonderful, bold flavors. Â The chef definitely knows what he's doing. Â
-Desserts and salads. Â My wife and I each tried a different choice, and these were the best parts of the meal.
The Okay:
-Our food was above warm, but certainly not hot. Â
-Food was good, but not $60 good. Â
-After we sat down, the waitress gave us half glasses of room temperature water and disappeared for 20 minutes. Â
-My petite wife didn't get enough to eat. Â She ate a snack when we got home!
-Overall, the service was very casual and our waitress knew little about the details of what was served.
-The chef (and owner) came out several times to greet people he knew. Â But only people he knew. Â This made us feel like outsiders.
-To reiterate what others have said, the atmosphere needs a little work, and maybe a little noise (like music).
-Empty tables near us sat uncleared of dirty dishes during our meal. Â
I've heard from others that this is a great lunch place, and I intend to return for lunch soon. Â I love having K Bistro here, and I hope they succeed, but I feel like they weren't quite ready to take on Valentine's Day.
I really like what they are trying to do here. Presentation was great. However food was warm, not hot. My wine glass had lint in it. Server was not familiar with the menu. I ordered the Pork Roulade and she asked me how I wanted the pork cooked. Really? It's pork, needs to be done. My husband had the Beef Bourguignon, which was full of fat and gristle. All the flavors were good, just not hot enough. Even the potatoes were cold. Â I think serving on hot plates would make a difference. Putting warm sauces on cold plates just cools it down too quick. We will go again, but I hope they work through these issues.
Review Source:They were fairly busy, but didn't seem that hectic. Nevertheless, or reservation wasn't honored and everything took a long time.
The food was pretty good. A bit pricey, but good.
The same can't be said about the atmosphere, unfortunately. The restaurant is very quiet making for a very self-conscious environment.
I'd revisit, but only if I knew the service would be decent.
I took my daughter to K Bistro tonight for her birthday. We arrived a little before 8pm, and there was one other group in the front where we were seated, and a rather large family party in the back.
. Â My daughter ordered a chicken sandwich with Gouda, pesto, and grilled onions and the homemade chips with scallion dip.I ordered the smoked Mac n cheese with pork belly and tomatoes and apple and tomato bisque with yogurt cream.
The first thing to the table are rolls and butter. The rolls are tender on the inside and chewy on the outside- everything you would want in a hard roll!
Our server, Jessica, was attentive and checked on us throughout our meal. The food came to the table in a reasonable amount of time. It was attractively presented. Â That is where the happy part of our meal ends-almost. The homemade chips and dip were very good.
My daughters sandwich-not so great. The meat was boneless chicken thigh, not sure how it was prepared. The one bite I had had gristly tendon in it and I spit it into my very nice cloth napkin. My daughter ended up removing the chicken from the bun, and essentially ate a cheese sandwich. My soup was tepid with very little flavor. I sent it back to be heated up. The mac n cheese was rather disappointing. It stated on the menu that it had truffle oil and burre blanc. I could not detect any truffle flavor at all. It also was cold when it got to the table. The pork belly had a delicious flavor but a leathery texture. The other complaint that I have is that it was very cold in the dining area! Shivery cold!
Would I go back? Maybe- the service was good and the bread excellent.
Every weekend we sit around wishing Marion had just 1 truly great restaurant. Finally we do I normally drive to Muncie or Kokomo when I want a good meal out and I'm not a chain restaurant fan. Bistro K satisfies a much needed void for Marion and Grant County. High end well cook cuisine at reasonable prices. I started with the baby iceberg salad it had roasted cherry tomatoes and fresh blue cheese crumbles. I'm actually craving this salad writing this. The Entree was the weekly special Beef Tenderloin wish I remember how it was prepared but pure taste excellence. This restaurant is just what we  needed in Marion give it a try. Oh, and if there are spelling or grammar mistakes blame Siri I made her write the review.
Review Source:Was not expecting the food to be THAT good. Â Wow. Â Don't let the location fool you.
I had the farmhouse burger and it was probably one of the best burgers I've had... ever. Â My friend got the pulled pork sandwich and said it was really good. Â I ordered the fried corn fritters not really knowing what they were. Â The waitress described them as fried creamed corn... they were unique and delicious. Â The desserts looked really good but was too full to order any.
Can't wait to get back and try more stuff on the menu... especially the desserts. Â The brunch menu looks really good too.
Made a second trip to this establishment and was much happier. Â The service was actually quite good -- professional and courteous. Â It was a Tuesday night and fairly busy.
The pluses -- good bread (in rolls and baquette) in Grant County!
Our friend had the braised chicken which looked and smelled amazing. Â He really liked it. Â Pretty elegant fair.
I had a turkey sandwich with brie cheese. Â Probably not my favorite thing, but that's more my personal taste than anything. Â I don't really like melted cheese on a sandwich. Â (There are some nice cheese selections available.... It would be awesome to offer some kind of cheese platter or even ploughman's lunch, but again maybe that's just me.)
Husband had fish and chips deemed very good. Â Wish only the best to this restaurant. Â We so need a place like this in Grant County!
I have eaten at almost every eatery in Grant County. Â This is a wonderful addition to a very limited fare. Â Let's deal with the service issue mentioned in the first review. Â They have a few servers who need some additional training. Â Enough said. Â Overall, the servers are attentive and prompt.
Now...let's talk food. Â Chef Kay, you have hit a home run on three separate days. Today's brunch was stunning. Â Fresh. homemade mini muffins to start the experience. Â Everyone ordered a different item, even the regular menu was available. Â I enjoyed three eggs, corned beef hash (homemade) and real, beautiful, sliced perfectly fried potatoes. Â The photo won't do it justice. Â My wife had an omelette, dad the pancakes...each meal was wonderfully prepared and plated very well. Â Want to go back and try the Lots of Pig...leave you hanging with that item. Â
Try this wonderful bistro that truly serves New American cuisine!!
