Seemingly hidden behind Chefusion, it's easy to miss Kaleidoscope if you're not looking for it. Â Upon walking inside, one might assume it's just a bar, but it is a full restaurant with a large dining room. Â I've eaten at the bar each time I've been there. Â
The bar is well-stocked, and has a quality, if limited selection of draft beers. Â The decor of the restaurant is charmingly kitschy and colorful.
In line with the decor and the name of the restaurant, the menu is colorful, eclectic, and difficult to define (Or as Kaleidoscope refers to it, "Kreative Food Undefined"). Â The menu consists primarily of a large number of pasta dishes and pub favorites, but also includes sandwiches and steaks. Â My personal favorite is the ouzo chicken penne. Â Most entrees come with salad or soup, and portions are substantial.
From my experience, the service is a bit slow, but very friendly. Â The food may take a while, but your glass, when emptied, will be promptly filled. Â While the kitchen seems to work a little slowly, the staff is clearly passionate about serving unique and quality food. Â Kaleidoscope is definitely something of a hidden gem in Green Bay.
Creative cookery is the hallmark of this friendly bistro. The menu features a mix of steak & seafood entrees, salads, and sandwiches. The grilled pear salad, the blackened haddock and the classic Reuben sandwich are just some of my favorites. However I also regularly sample Kathy's (the owner) specials. The dilled haddock, seafood Florentine and garlic Parmesan encrusted steak specials belong on the everyday menu. Be sure to check out the desserts as well. It's also important to note that many of the salad dressings are made from scratch - be sure to try the balsamic reduction and the blueberry balsamic. Kathy's triple chocolate cake is her specialty but my personal favorite is her rum raisin bread pudding with butter rum sauce. Also see if she's made any seasonal fruit pies. Â Also check out Kathy's homemade pepper jelly & cream cheese appetizer if you're into a full course meal. During the winter months there is also a delightful brunch menu. Kaleidoscope offers occasional live music on Friday nights as well. If you are looking for a great place for lunch or dinner, I think you'll really enjoy Kaleidoscope.
