We met friends here for dinner. I had the lamb shank, which was a bit dry. I have had better lamb at other restaurants. However, my fellow diners all had the rib eye steak, which was fabulous! Â Our salads and ALL side dishes (mashed potatoes and potatoes croquette) were awesome . Even the bread was wonderful. The service also did not disappoint. Our waitress was friendly and her timing was perfect. I love the look of this restaurant. The original brick walls adds character and warmth. Finally, we have a decent place to get a steak in town. Yay!
Review Source:We were in the area and decided to check the place out. Glad we did. All around excellent experience. Food, service, ambience was very perfect. We had the burger and the steak sandwich. Both were served to perfection. Christy Hayes, the owner, has done a great job. We will definitely recommend to friends.
Review Source:This place is a splendid revamp of the former Morrison's. Â It's one of the only fine dining restaurants in Woodland, yet they could easily compete with other Sacramento and Davis restaurants. Â I have dined here several times and am always pleased with the food and the service. Â It is very quiet and comfortable. Â No, it's not a hot spot for young singles and yes, you might feel like you are in an episode of the Golden Girls, but the food is delicious. Â I recently tried the rack of lamb, despite my affinity for the rosemary chicken, and it was divine, just cooked perfectly. Â Thank you to our wonderful waitress, Jill, for the recommendation.
Review Source:We were in town for a dog show last weekend. Â We really weren't in the mood for kettle korn and corn dogs so we jumped into our ride and explored downtown Woodland for the first time. Â Our eyes caught a cute little Thai restaurant so we parked on a side street and noticed an interesting looking restaurant called Kitchen Four Twenty-Eight to our right. Â As we were bent down peering at the menu through the window the front door opened and a very gregarious maitre d' popped his smiling face out and said "We also have a very delicious fish and chips luncheon special today if you're interested." Â He made me laugh and I wasn't even in the restaurant. Â A little voice inside of me told me to forget the Thai food fix and go with the good feeling I had about this place which is exactly what we ended up doing. Â We weren't disappointed. Â Never having been here before or even Woodland for that matter, it was very nice of Dave (the maitre d') to give us a brief tour of the restaurant and he was very patient with us while we decided where to sit. Â Julian was our server and he was a professional all the way around. Â Seasoned, smooth, nice and also patient. Â We both wanted to order the fish and chips special but I'm very particular about my fish and if it's smelly or too fishy I won't have more than one bite. Â My husband on the other hand buys fish at the store marked 50% off so....obviously, no problem for him I think he lost his taste buds somewhere in the 70's. Â In any event, he ordered the 428 burger and I ordered the F&C. Â If we had to switch we could. Â My husband was very disappointed though because I loved the F&C and he only ended up getting a couple of bites. Â By the way, his burger was delicious. Â Thank you Dave and Julian for giving us such a pleasurable dining experience last Saturday and thanks to the entire Kitchen Four Twenty-Eight staff and restaurant. Â If we ever go to Woodland again we'll be back.
